Jordan, SLP-Assistant was a GOD SEND for my son. She started seeing him at 2 years old when he was mostly nonverbal, and a year later...he is talking up a storm!! Jordan travels to several ABA centers and was able to see my son 3 days a week while communicating with his other therapists. We started therapy at such a critical time for his young mind, and we're grateful that Jordan travelled to him to make it easy for us. She even allowed us to observe via zoom a few times and would call us to give us updates. Thank you for teaching my little one to speak, for giving him a voice, and for truly changing his life. We are so very grateful for your big heart, and we'll miss you!

Playing with a puzzle and never letting go of baby.

My son has been coming to Speak for yourself for only a short time. In that short time he has learned to say so many new sounds and words. The style of therapy they use gets him excited and want to be vocal. His therapists, Jenny and Christina, are so knowledgable and always answer my questions. We really enjoy coming here and my son never wants to leave.

Today The Center for Hearing and Speech had free hearing screenings. How did I find out? Yelp…read moreEvents, that's how!!! At 2:27 I opened yelp events and realized I forgot all about it. I called over there and asked if it would be ok if I came on by for the screening since it was supposed to be over at 3. The kind lady on the phone said "come on"!! I grab the kid and sped down Shepherd to get there by 2:43. We only almost died twice. We were in and out in 10 minutes. First, they performed the standard headphones with the tones test. Raise your hand when you hear a sound. But, he did not do well on that one so she put these things in his ears that sent out beeps and measured how his inner ear reacted. The boy flunked his test (first test he has ever flunked.) The Audiologist told us to go to our pediatrician and have him get on an antibiotic to make sure there is NO infection in his ears, then come back and get the full diagnostics. She asked about our insurance, which we have none, and luckily they have a sliding scale based on income. So, hopefully when all is said and done, this will not break the bank. I really appreciated the intern who posted this event on Yelp Events.

This place is phenomenal! After failing his newborn hearing…read morescreen, our son was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss and then aided at 2 months. We didn't have a clue where to start on helping him develop spoken language and listening skills. The Center put us on the right track with weekly therapy sessions that also gave me good speech activities to do at home. Our first therapist was Hannah for a few sessions and then we saw Miriam until the time our son was released from the program. Miriam really took us under her wing and helped tremendously. I learned so much about his hearing loss and how to work with him. The audiology department is wonderful as well. They offer hearing tests for babies including diagnostic ABR testing. They can do everything right there including sound boith testing, making molds, etc. except for sedated testing which they refer to Texas Children's Hospital. We've worked with several of the audiologists and all of them are professional and knowledgeable. Our son is now 4 years old and you can't even tell he has hearing loss by listening to him talk. He was released from his sessions at 2 years old because he was testing at and above age appropriate listening and speech skills. Everyone from the receptionists to the billing department have been friendly and helpful. They also have a library where you can check out all kinds of resources to help you and your little one with hearing loss. We are grateful to everyone at the Center who helped us through the first part of our journey!

An adult relative of mine has had an excellent experience with myofunctional therapy (MFT) here…read more The problems Isabel treated with MFT were tongue tie, snoring, obstructive sleep apnea, and chronic neck and shoulder tightness/discomfort. Momentum Therapy Center isn't just for kids! Excellent for adults too. Isabel has been very thorough. The initial evaluation was in person, as well as some of the weekly follow-up visits. Once the coronavirus pandemic started our local stay-at-home orders, Isabel did virtual visits, which were also excellent. Within weeks of starting myofunctional therapy here, there was marked improvement in symptoms. Eventually, the neck tightness/discomfort was 100% better, and the shoulder/trapezius area issues were 70-80% better. Snoring was also improved. Visits were in network with insurance, so that's another plus. Overall, highly recommended!

I am so happy with my son's progress to date. Recommend to double check insurance benefits before starting. I thought that we had coverage with Aetna but unfortunately our individual plan was limited. The Momentum staff were very helpful with facilitating the appeal process. Luckily our insurance plan coverage expanded for 2019 so we don't have to worry anymore.

Want covid for your children? Come here. I just found out that the SLP, whom my 2 year old and 3…read moreyear old have been seeing for months is not vaccinated. The owner of the clinic, Michael Gatto, thinks that this is fine since she is a contracted employee. However, he also stated that he does not require his employees to be vaccinated. He also disclosed that he was unaware of the vaccination status of our SLP and also unaware that she did not inform her patients of this either. There was no apology or a trace of remorse in his voice. With cases rising (It's December 20, 2021), it is not a question of if but when our SLP will contract covid and give it to my kids. She sees multiple kids a day, many who cannot be vaccinated because they are under 5 years old, and at most wears a face shield but the past several weeks has worn nothing. The first SLP we saw is vaccinated; we had to switch to the current one because of scheduling conflicts and it was not disclosed to me at the time of the change that our new SLP was unvaccinated. This only came to light beca use the SLP's husband contracted covid so she reached out to let me know. To be in healthcare- especially in pediatrics- and choose to be unvaccinated is irresponsible and shameful. It also brings into question why she has chosen to not get vaccinated; the last person I want treating my children is someone who doesn't believe in science. I trusted that she was evidence-based in her practice but can't trust this to be true if she doesn't believe in getting vaccinated. The Speech and Language Connection has robbed me of both a sense of security and time. The time spent on admit paperwork and for my children to build a rapport with the therapist is too many hours to count. I'm sure it will take months to get in at TCH, but at least they require their clinicians to be vaccinated, like the majority of healthcare facilities in the city and country. I'm beyond upset- I trusted our SLP to provide therapy and to have my kids' best interest at heart. She has put them at increased risk for no reason and it's unacceptable.

I repeatedly asked them to bill my insurance, but they ignored me and kept sending me bills. Today I got a call from their lawyer demanding the money. They have plenty of competitors that know how to correctly run a speech therapy business and bill insurance. The services offered by this business aren't worth $300.

I heard about ODPT from a family friend and I'm so glad we had the opportunity to visit and get some good feedback on our toddler's development. The staff is incredible. The owners, Michelle and Amber are serious about making the business the best place to work so they really can choose the best therapists. You'll regularly find the entire staff supporting a kiddo on their birthday with a fun shirt or costume, which speaks volumes to a "customer first" culture. They have sensory rooms in the office that are genuinely one of a kind in the States. When specialized care is so difficult to find, it's a relief to find a place like ODPT to calm your nerves.
