Animals in foster are so much more relaxed, they also have more of a routine. Check out the animal's diary to see photos and videos of them to glean more info on their unique personalities. Many dogs have been in play groups at the shelter, so they have information on their unique play style to better know if these dogs will be a good fit for your family

Wednesday, May 13, 2012, I went to this clown show to ask to be a volunteer kitten feeder, a.k.a…read more "foster mom for bottle babies". I waited more than 2 hours, during which time I overheard alot of discussion like, " well, what do we do? How do we handle this?" Then they gave me dog adoption paperwork instead of cat fostering paperwork. I filled it out and there was MORE waiting. Jeff , the " foster volunteer coordinator, mumbled and fumbled through explaining things ( terrible at it) and asking if I had done it before. I have fostered many times. I finally got the kittens. Two days later, one of them was bloated and had a firm belly. I did my best, following all tips and suggestions, to no avail, to help her potty. I took all 3 kittens back and asked them to potty ALL THREE, but they said the one pottied but the other 2 were fine. So, come Sunday night and the other two were constipated, even though I followed all instructions. The shelter was closed, so, as directed, I took them to Sage Vet Hospital. Sage told me to check the next day with CoCoAnimal Svcs. I waited 2 days, and called the the shelter several times and got really nebulous non answers. It is now Thursday, May 21st, and I had to call 3 times before getting Jeff ( above named).Jeff told me ( after asking me to repeat myself 4 times) that "the kittens were picked up from Sage by the humane society and then given to another foster."I asked him why. No good answer. This didn't sound right, so I called Sage. Sage told me ," That is impossible. The Humane Society never picks up animals here. We don't know where the kittens are." I am worried about the kittens, emotionally and time invested, lost alot of sleep and I am offended to be lied to blatantly. Jeff should be let go. I would really like to know how it is that they cannot track an animal when given a specific i.d. number. I will never donate or use this shelter again. Star rating : 000

I was looking for a baby kitten, and thankfully I found exactly the little cat I was hoping for. The adoption process was easy and smooth, and you can really tell how much the staff cares about the animals. The cats are very well treated, and the conditions they are kept in are excellent. Everything was clean, organized, and the animals looked healthy, happy, and loved. Thank you to everyone at Joybound People & Pets for all the care and dedication you give to these animals. I truly recommend this adoption center!

Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy complementary coffee or tea, also offered a box of tissues We were already pulling out of the parking lot before our scheduled appointment time Can't think you enough for your kindness all around this hard experience

If you're looking for cats, go to Pet Food Express at Slatten Ranch on Saturdays from 12-3. or Pittsburg Petsmart on Sundays from 12-3. They have different kinds of cats and kittens with different shapes and colors just waiting to be loved. After a short screening application, your new friend is yours! Cats and kittens have an adoption fee of $100. If you're looking for dogs, they don't bring them on site. Instead, they're all at a foster house in Brentwood. Man, I've never seen so many dogs in one place! Small and big dogs alike! You can tell they're well taken cared of at Joy's house. Usually you can just sit there, observe all their personalities, and pick from there. I'm sure one will steal your heart like my Wyatt has. Dogs and puppies adoption fees range from $125-$300, depending on age, special needs, purity of breed, etc. Email joysdogs@gmail.com or call 925 473-4642 to make an appt. And if for any reason you find that you and your new furry friend aren't working out, you can bring him/her back to the organization free of charge within a month after adoption.
