Oh my goodness I'm in love. This is pure bliss for cat lovers. There are cats of all shapes, sizes, and ages to play with. For $20 an hour (the funds go directly to the cats' expenses) you can play with them all you'd like! The volunteers were super friendly and informative, introducing us to each cat, telling us their backstories, and explaining their demeanors. They also gave us treats to lure the cats in and I had a blast seeing all the different personalities come to life. The cool thing about this place is they're a non-profit organization run by volunteers, and all the cats are up for adoption! There are also volunteer opportunities if you're interested. They have a stamp card system where if you visit a certain amount of times, you get a free visit. So if this place sounds like it's up your alley, come pay a visit! You won't be disappointed.

The odor was so strong I could smell it from where I was sitting !

Went next door to the yogurt shop, was sitting outside enjoying my frozen yogurt, I see a t mobile employee knocking on the door to the cat lounge, the t mobile employee was very upset about the smell the cats were causing . Seems like the odor was causing the people at the t mobile store to get sick ... just as the cat lounge employee closed the door out came a very strong odor of cat urine it was so nasty. This is not right at all. If they can't take care of their cats then don't even have them. This is a huge health and safety hazard t mobile should contact osha!!! Also the cat lounge employee was not helpful and was rude!

I found this place on TikTok. I was so happy it was in the Bay Area. I called to verify they were open and the owner was so nice. It's in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. You can't miss it there's literally cats on the window. You walk in and on the side there are free books they give you. You pay as soon as you walk in it's $20 for adult, $10 for kids, and they give you a discount if you're a student. It's like a giant living room. We were greeted by someone who worked there took our payment. She took her time to show us pictures of every cat and explain their personalities. The couches are very relaxing. There are a lot of cats. They give you treats to give to the cats. There's plenty of cat scratchers , toys, and places for cats to nap. The entire staff is extremely nice and friendly. This place has literally saved cats lives. They definitely stand for a great cause. Highly recommend to come here and if you can adopt a cat.

There's books, games and cats. A plenty of cats. Wish I had a picture of Kitty, she is very lovable. Kitty has gentle paw gestures and gentle love bites. Made a great first impression.

This handsome fella is my Jett who I adopted from the Zone (formerly The Cat Lounge)

Have been coming to the Cat Chillin Zone (formerly The Cat Lounge) in Martinez for almost an entire year. I love the wonderful variety of cats there (up to 25) and the friendly volunteers that make it work. Great effort is made to keep the place as clean as possible, which can be a chore with that many cats, but the volunteers and staff bend over backwards to do a really great job. They also host fun activities and events.

Hi my name is Minnie! I JUST GOT ADOPTED!

I'm so happy with the job they do with my little friends. We're blessed as a city to have them.

I waited more than 2 hours, during which time I overheard alot of discussion like, " well, what do we do? How do we handle this?" Then they gave me dog adoption paperwork instead of cat fostering paperwork. I filled it out and there was MORE waiting. Jeff , the " foster volunteer coordinator, mumbled and fumbled through explaining things ( terrible at it) and asking if I had done it before. I have fostered many times. I finally got the kittens. Two days later, one of them was bloated and had a firm belly. I did my best, following all tips and suggestions, to no avail, to help her potty. I took all 3 kittens back and asked them to potty ALL THREE, but they said the one pottied but the other 2 were fine. So, come Sunday night and the other two were constipated, even though I followed all instructions. The shelter was closed, so, as directed, I took them to Sage Vet Hospital. Sage told me to check the next day with CoCoAnimal Svcs. I waited 2 days, and called the the shelter several times and got really nebulous non answers. It is now Thursday, May 21st, and I had to call 3 times before getting Jeff ( above named).Jeff told me ( after asking me to repeat myself 4 times) that "the kittens were picked up from Sage by the humane society and then given to another foster."I asked him why. No good answer. This didn't sound right, so I called Sage. Sage told me ," That is impossible. The Humane Society never picks up animals here. We don't know where the kittens are." I am worried about the kittens, emotionally and time invested, lost alot of sleep and I am offended to be lied to blatantly. Jeff should be let go. I would really like to know how it is that they cannot track an animal when given a specific i.d. number. I will never donate or use this shelter again. Star rating : 000

The adoption process was easy and smooth, and you can really tell how much the staff cares about the animals. The cats are very well treated, and the conditions they are kept in are excellent. Everything was clean, organized, and the animals looked healthy, happy, and loved. Thank you to everyone at Joybound People & Pets for all the care and dedication you give to these animals. I truly recommend this adoption center!

Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy complementary coffee or tea, also offered a box of tissues We were already pulling out of the parking lot before our scheduled appointment time Can't think you enough for your kindness all around this hard experience

I have known Odessa for years and have so much respect for her incredible personal commitment to dog rescue. Most of the dogs 'roam' freely in her house, learning to get along with other dogs and with people. Puppies (and moms) stay in the puppy palace (a charmingly converted and furnished garage space). Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Thank you to everyone who supports and adopts from rescue, saves lives, and appreciates those doing the really hard work. And please consider fostering a little dog if you can. It's a rewarding experience being part of the pipeline to forever homes.
