We've been regulars at Spazo Restaurant & Bar for years, and I'm not sure why I've never written a review until now. This is simply a fantastic neighborhood Italian restaurant with consistently excellent food, a fun bar, and a great atmosphere. We especially enjoy sitting on the outdoor patio when the weather is nice. Every meal starts with complimentary bread, which is always a nice touch. We shared an order of calamari as an appetizer. It was good and exactly what you'd expect from a classic Italian restaurant. On our most recent visit, we ordered the Chicken Alla Panna, featuring mushrooms and shallots in a rich brandy cream sauce, the Eggplant Parmigiana served with pasta, a New York-style pizza, and the sea bass special. Every dish was excellent. The sauces are flavorful, the ingredients taste fresh, and it's clear the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The bar is equally impressive, offering an excellent selection of beer, wine and cocktails to complement the meal. One thing to know before you order is that the portions are large. We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy for lunch the next day, which is always a bonus. I got the Eggplant Parmesan. The side salad that came with was somewhat strange, but the entree itself was quite good. The red sauce was well flavored and I wish there was more of it in the Eggplant Parmesan, which was somewhat dry. Partner and I came as a fallback when the place we wanted to go for date night was closed. We had a pleasant time here. Our included salad was good, and I ordered Piccata, my Italian place staple. I'd say the sauce and overall dish was okay, maybe a bit above average. Partner's eggplant parm was pretty good for $12. The prices are really what makes this place a draw, since our dishes were about half the price they would have been elsewhere. There were a few minor irks about our experience that kept from 5 stars. Our drinks weren't refilled until we got the check, and we didn't get bread until we were halfway through our entrees. Our table was wobbly and unstable and we sat by the bar, which smelled like smoke pretty consistently during our meal. Like I said, all very minor but enough to note. Cozy place with indoor and outdoor seating. Not a BYOB but they have a full bar. Wine selection is okay but prices are decent. Food prices are super cheap but the food was spectacular. My wife praised the lasagna and I loved the spaghetti with sliced sausage. Rolls and salads were perfect. Great place! read more

Casual and cozy Italian spot in Allen serving up solid food! I came with my fiance and a friend on a Thursday evening for dinner, and we were seated immediately. Service was good throughout our meal and our food also came out rather quickly after we ordered. They start you off with complimentary bread, and then we ordered calamari to share which was pretty standard. For entrees, I got the baked ziti with meatballs and it came out piping hot! The flavor was delicious and it was such a warm and comforting dish to enjoy on a cold night. My fiance got their sausage & peppers with spaghetti which was also very good. This place is a cozy neighborhood Italian spot. Everything that I got was a 10/10 and super fresh! The chicken florentine was sOoOooOo flavorful. The bruschetta was one of the best I've tried. I came for a family outing party of 6 early on a weekend night (thankfully we had reservations, the place got rather crowded)! Honestly 2.5. First time here and just wasn't impressed. I got the lobster ravioli in brandy cream with Caesar salad. Caesar is $2 extra. Caesar dressing was good, I think the salad and free bread were the better things here.. The lobster ravioli came out lukewarm, and the brandy cream sauce was too light and lacked flavor. Additionally, there was a small piece of shell in one of the raviolis and in the sauce they used imitation crab instead of actual lobster! The filling of the ravioli did contain lobster but really lacked flavor. For $16 I expected more. I also tried the pasta combo, and that was also disappointing. The filling of cheese and spinach or meat was uneven. The lasagna came out sideways and the meat was only put in the bottom, they didn't even layer the lasagna pasta layers with meat. The overall flavor was also a bit lacking. My friends also thought all their dishes were only okay or slightly lacking. The service was good, our waitress Adelina got everything we wanted or needed without us asking. Food also came out fast. The interior is cozy and older. It is a little smaller on the inside but clean. I do not think I will come back as there are better Italian places. Though their prices are on the lower end, it would be better to make some yourself. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is a local business that supports Allen in return. Got lunch specials that came with salad and garlic rolls. The Italian dressing is homemade and amazing. The rolls are fresh and fluffy. My chicken parmesan was a huge portion (enough for 2 meals). It came with spaghetti. We received a flyer for Spazo in the mail and I'll have to admit it looked very good. So we decided to try it out Saturday afternoon. We ordered a large pizza. The equivalent of an everything pizza. And a Calzone. Knowing we'd have leftovers. The pizza was hot, great crust and loaded with toppings. Very good and very reasonably priced. Maybe my new favorite pizza place when I need something nearby. The calzone came with a nice side of marinara sauce. It was loaded with goodness. Nice crust. We were all meeting as realtors for lunch and one of our coworkers had an accident so one person in our group needed to go rescue her at the accident. When the manager found this out he made up a free meal so we could take it to her! Much appreciated by all...it is like a home town family feel restaurant. Stumbled upon this place driving around; and my kids wanted pizza; so Google literally brought us here! We went during lunch; wasn't too busy but it was steady. At first I didn't feel we were greeted with a warm welcome; but after being there; I noticed it was our waitress' personality and that was her being friendly. The menu has a large selection; I love that they offer options other than just pizza. I ordered a few things; we started off with the fried mozzarella and the stuffed mushrooms. Both were very good; the mushrooms were amazing!! Best I've had in a minute. I ordered a pizza for the kids; which they loved and tore up. I had a piece and it was really good pizza. The food was not what I expected, the salad they serve you literally is like two pieces of lettuce. Everyone got chicken Alfredo or regular pasta. The pasta tasted sweet and the chicken tasted rubbery and unfortunately just off and nasty. The cheese bread isn't authentic at all something I make at home for half the price. The server we had felt we were being rushed to leave even though it was more than hour til closing time and many others there as well. I don't understand the hype. We ordered this delivery. Our driver said the restaurant seemed understaffed and the food came out 25 minutes later than expected, but it arrived warm and well packed. Chicken Caesar salad was fine - the lettuce was fresh and the chicken was cooked, though dry and tough. I wish we hadn't ordered garlic bread; I didn't realize bread rolls would come with everything. All of the bread was tough. It was hot, but definitely just stale bread that was warmed. The pasta dishes were all greasy and swimming in sauce/cheese. But I know some people are into that. We are not. The most unforgivable thing to me is that the tomato sauce is canned or jarred. It's an Italian restaurant. Come on. I can't even say it tastes like Ragu.. more like Spaghettio's. I would give it a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the frozen Tiramisu. The pizza is amazing (that's coming from someone who is born and raise in the northeast - good pizza in Texas can be hard to find). Regarding the Tiramisu - it is frozen and I had to nuke it in the microwave for 15 seconds because the tiramisu was frozen in the middle mostly by the ladyfingers, along some of the cream. This has happened on 2 separate occasions - I am wondering if this is just a To Go issue?? If they would work out a different process for making/storing Tiramisu, this place would be my go to 100% of the time. Part of the middle feels like I'm having frozen ice and once tasting it - it's like freezing ice dessert and doesn't taste well at all. It needs to be thawed before eating BIG-TIME! I dealt with it after my first go around with the microwave and ate what I could and then threw out the rest. I LOVE my tiramisu - I rarely finish without scraping the plate. I'm hopefully they can improve on that, because I reallllly love the pizza. read more

We were very pleasantly surprised by the amazing italian food that they have to offer! Before I get to the food, have to commend the service. Our waiter was very attentive, wore a mask at all times, and just wonderful. He kept our water cup filled, brought red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese, and constantly checking up on us and inquiring any needs. For an entree, I ordered the linguine with white clam sauce. Your entree comes with a side salad and I highly recommend the house dressing. I don't know what's in it, but I wanted to take home a bottle, lol. Two friends ordered the seafood linguine and another friend the chicken marsala. All three entrees were HUGE. Definitely enough to bring home for a second meal. I completed the evening with 1 cannoli which was crispy and had a nice cream (pretty smooth) on the inside with lots of chocolate drizzle. We'll be back for other dining experiences for sure! Our pizza was great but the salad left a lot to be desired, both in the ratio of the constituent ingredients as well as the quality of those ingredients. We took our family of 8, parents and young adults and their dates, out for dinner. Arrived to a full restaurant but amazingly they sat our large party within minutes. The service was prompt and soon waters and appetizers of calamari, garlic bread and mozzarella wedges were served. The atmosphere was very nice, darker with modern table mini lights for lighting with a huge screen tv appropriately with football games on - perfect for our sons. We ordered margarita pizza, spaghetti n meatballs, baked ziti and we also ordered the menu special of the day a wrapped chicken cutlet with prosciutto and mozzarella in the middle with spaghetti and vodka sauce. This special sounded delicious but we had them add spinach ($3 extra for a few pieces & why the less star) but was really good. The bus person took our photo and we left full bellies and happy to have spent quality time. I would add we tried to call another restaurant Numero 28 and they were rude so we were happy to remember Spazo and try without calling. Very good choice 1000%. Just bummed they chose to add up charge for spinach when it comes auto on other menu items anyway. read more

The service was not good. The waitress kept forgetting things the whole night to the point where we asked at least three times for something. The food was ok at best. Nothing spectacular that would bring me back. The pizza was riddled with grease. It feels like nothing was fresh or homemade. We didn't even get through dinner before my stomach decided to start rejecting the food and it is still upset the next morning. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. If they can't keep a basic bathroom clean, it makes me severely question the cleanliness of the kitchen. read more

We just had food delivered, and it is below average Italian food. The food is bland. The bread is stale, the sauce on my Alfredo and baked ziti was interesting and the margarita pizza is not Margherita pizza. It's an odd white cheese with little bits of tomato and green.
