My sister and I took our pups to get fixed. My sister has one dog that came back with his sake hanging down. The other dogs were done right. Now the boy boy is losing his hair since the procedure. She has always feed him Diamond, dog food. With salmon oil Some, told me she had the same experience. And because of the messed up procedure he had a testosterone problem. My advice don't take your animal to this place. They are butchers. read more

My cat, Garrus, has had several urinary track blockages over the years, and when he had his third one the vet suggested it would be best for him to have a perineal urethrostomy (PU) rather than going through the unblocking process again. I live in Montgomery County, where the cost of everything is approximately 10x what it is anywhere else, and there was no possible way I could afford the anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 that it would cost for him to have surgery in MoCo. The vet who'd recommended the surgery in the first place gave me the contact information for this clinic. I was very surprised and a little skeptical that they would only charge $975 for the surgery, but they were able to fit him in later that same day considering the urgency. Originally, they said he would go home later in the afternoon, but they changed their mind and decided to keep him overnight at no additional cost due to it already being mid-afternoon when he had the surgery. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I highly recommend them. Their costs are much lower than anything you can find closer to the DMV, but their work is still very high quality. My cat didn't have any issues after the surgery, and several weeks later he's well on his way to going back to normal. read more

Don't let the name fool you, they don't just do spaying and neutering. Our cat ate some yarn and our vet recommended surgery for removal just in case. Our own vet wasn't able to perform an object removal surgery. With the vet surgeon they recommended and also calling around to several places most wanted anywhere from $5000-9000, which seemed outrageous to me. Luckily one vet surgery office overheard me saying "we can't afford that" and recommended calling Spay Now. They were able to fit us in day of and it only cost us $715. They told us it might cost more, but they charged us the lowest possible price first, then after an exploratory surgery to cut open our cat, the surgeon called us personally and told us she was able to push the yarn into his colon and wouldn't need to do any other surgery. The surgery itself was slightly cheaper due to a military discount and we loved how the vet called us personally and answered any questions we had and also that they could fit us in so quickly. I would definitely recommend them if you don't have great pet insurance or if you're wanting to price shop. They gave me a price range on the phone. Worth every penny! read more

My rescue pup was neutered there and a few years later they did his rabies vaccination but that is the only vaccine that they do. Otherwise they are a surgery center only. They are very, very affordable at just $15 for a three-year rabies vaccine. His neutering was a fraction of the cost of other veterinary hospitals too. Highly recommend. read more

I'm shocked with how few reviews the grasonville Spay Now has since they are known for being a high volume surgical outpatient clinic. Having a few reviews and low prices seems sketchy but I reassure you this place is legitimate and your pet is in good hands. I was referred to Spay Now by the vets at Friendship Animal Hospital for PU surgery for my male cat. As of June 2020, the cost for a PU is $855, all inclusive which sounds too good to be true. If you are also looking into PU surgery you may know this is not a small decision - they cut off the boys penis so he's functionally a female and no surgery without complications. My cat was / is experiencing a urinary blockage with complications starting thursday 6/4 over the weekend and had to stay overnight at the DC hospital. He was experiencing complications during his healing process, prolonging the healing rpcoess which incurred approx 1k everyday I boarded my cat. I could have waited until Tuesday to see if non-surgical intervention was successful but it literally cost as much as the surgery and had no guarantee of working. That weekend I researched the heck out of this procedure and consulted with multiple clinics. Due to financial constraints and the concern that he maybe prone to blockage because of the complications, I decided to get surgery but had to wait until Monday morning to schedule an appointment. When I called that morning around 9, 10 they had an opening same day. The receptionist, Star, answered all of my questions thoughtfully and with reassurance. They mentioned they do many of these surgeries (as expected for a high volume clinic) and by and large the patients go on to lead successful, normal lives. In fact Star made a remark about how it was exceptional my boy made it to 9 without an event and seen kittens with blockages. I wasn't 100% sure that I wanted to commit with the surgery when I called them since I already paid for a second round of nonsurgical care at my DC clinic but Star was super reasonable. The best part was that I was able to make a same day deposit without a deposit which is insane. The fact that they did not do anything to pressure me and were understanding of my situation won my confidence so I withdrew him from Friendship to get the surgery that afternoon. The check in process (during COVID) was incredibly simple and I dropped him off at 2:30 and picked him up at 5:30 (note: they recommend early morning drop off but it was not possible for me.. They provided litter, a new cone, and medication for his post-op care. I was worried initially when he came home because his first pee was pretty bloody - it wasn't dark red and coagulated (ie: straight blood) but it was substantially bloody and got all over his hind quarters which made me nervous. I snapped a picture and sent it to the vet that evening. He kept trying to visiting the bathroom, like 5x an hour when he first came back. After reading other medical literature and post-op care from other providers as well (look up "pernieal urethrostomy bleeding" and you get a lot of good post-op documents that confirm that bleeding is normal the first two days.) By the end of the evening he was purring, head butting, cuddling, eating and drinking like his normal self. The next morning he was much more regular, no excessive amounts of blood, and had a happy appetite. The vet also got back to me first thing in the morning to tell me this is a normal amount of blood the first two days (I would share but it seems like an obscene amount and I don't want readers to judge this is a bad thing when it's normal!) I think it's valid to have concerns how they can keep the price so low but do note that they are an outpatient facility so by taking your cat home right after the procedure, there are risks. Having it done in DC would have cost me 4-5k but have an overnight stay so you win and lose some. Thankfully despite it being the "budget" option my cat is doing amazing and I am very optimistic about his recovery. I would recommend this clinic based on my experiences within the past 24 hours, and will update after his 2 week. PS: due to the short visit, I made a visit to terrapin nature park nearby to kill time rather than going back to the western shore so that's something to consider, weather permitting! read more

KILLED A LITTER OF KITTENS BECAUSE THEY WONT FOLLOW BASIC SURGICAL PROTOCOLS. Brought in a stray today we had recently adopted, she was thin when we got her, and she had rapidly gained weight since. We had made an appointment with these basic biology dunces to get her spayed after two days of having her, but the appointment was two weeks out. The morning of the appointment, we told the intake "technician" (some moron with no care for animals) "she may be pregnant, or just getting fat now, we're unsure". We were told they would check, and we assumed a basic pregnancy test would be done before surgery was even contemplated....you know, as you would do for any living thing going into surgery, you need to establish a baseline of health BEFORE administering anesthesia. When we came to pick her up that afternoon (following no calls from them to tell us anything), we asked if she was pregnant or just getting fat. Same intake "technician" told us, "no, she wasn't pregnant......wait....". Only then did she glance at the paperwork and realize "oh my, she WAS pregnant". The only reply I could muster was "WAS?!?". She proceeded to tell me, rather matter-of-factly, was that they had administered anesthesia and started the surgery before someone went "uh-oh" (read: the cat was cut open, they saw kittens, this was news to them). They had killed a litter of kittens for the lack of basic surgical procedure, and against our own explained suspicions. No apologies were given, no "mistakes were made" speech came forth. We were looked at like its their job to throw away pregnancies. It was all I could do to not jump over the counter. They looked and spoke like $85 wouldn't have covered a hormone presence test or 5 seconds of ultrasound work and a phone call to come get her early, the spaying would have to wait. I would have happily paid that for the shots and news she was expecting, saving them money and time...but hey, why not just shove drugs in her and start cutting blind, I'm sure that works out a lot..... The kicker? The very next line they spoke was "...and that comes to $xxx.xx today..." . The level of incompetence, literally first year student procedural breakdown, and lack of compassion at their own willful errors is frankly mesmerizing, second only to the nerve to demand payment. (i know, you can get free kittens almost anywhere, but if you even meagerly value them at $10 each, they threw more than their bill worth of kittens in the garbage due an easily preventable mistake). The worst part of it all is explaining the sudden weight loss to my 4 year old daughter. I refuse to lie to her, but dancing on this one is hard. Most negative reviews here are full of their excuses in replies..."we're not a traditional veterinary clinic...", Etc. I dont want excuses, at all. I want EVERYONE to know this is a chop shop at best, and I will NOT rescind any of this for any reason. No medical technician, veterinary or otherwise worth their "degree" would ever knowingly operate on anything if there was ANY question of safety without testing properly. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. They are priced low because they cut whatever corners they can legally; morality, safety, or decency to life be damned. If they had this level of disdain for routine procedure, its only a matter of time before it happens again....and again...and again....Pay the extra for a real veterinarian and staff that know what they're doing and dont consider themselves some kind of glorified spay assembly line doing YOU a favor. We were referred to Spay Now and decided to get our cat's dental extraction done here given the lower cost and excellent reviews. Just days before our appointment our elderly cat had a sudden ataxic episode and based on the exam the vets no longer thought he was a good candidate for sedation. Spay Now was super understanding and empathetic and responsive and were able to cancel our appointment and refund us. This review is for the Laurel, MD location I can't say enough good things about the people and staff here. I emailed them late one Friday (like 8pm) with a general inquiry and received a reply within an hour. When I eventually spoke with someone live, I received the utmost courtesy & concern for my questions...and I had many. I have a large breed older puppy who was over 90lbs so I was very nervous about the procedure and her health. Not to mention she had never been dropped off alone before and I didn't know how she would be treated. To my delight, they treated her extremely well and the surgery (and healing) went very smooth. My dog had a mild case of Open Pyometra. I contacted a handful of vets and they wanted upwards of $2600 for a somewhat simple nonemergency procedure. I then found Spay Now through a simple google search. I contacted them through email, and they emailed me right back the following business day. I then called and very friendly lady answered the phone. She was very patient and listed very carefully as I explained exactly what was wrong with my dog. She then booked me for an appointment for the same day. I called at 9am, and they saw me around 11am. After dropping my dog off, they took my payment. I paid only $650!! That's $2000 in savings compared to all of the other vets that quoted me. After paying she instructed me to come back in about 5 hours. They did the procedure and carefully watched my dog for signs of swelling/allergic reactions. Once I arrived to pick up my dog, they explained everything I needed to do at home to keep my dog healthy. How much meds to give her, keep her cut dry, walks on leash, etc. I highly recommend going to Spay Now! Not only are they affordable, they are extremely high quality when it comes to their surgeries and customer service. I'm convinced that they do a better job than the ER doctors. Those ER doctors do a wide variety of surgeries. However, The Spay Now doctors SPECIALIZE in spay/neuter procedures. This includes pyometra surgeries! They're practically the same thing. read more

I can't say enough good things about Spay Now! Veterinary services in our immediate area are astronomical in cost, even for basic wellness visits and vaccinations. I have really started to understand why many people fail to get their animals veterinary care. I was excited to learn that Spay Now was taking on new patients for wellness visits and booked an appointment immediately for my two small dogs. I drove from an hour away to bring my dogs in, and it was worth the extra time in the car! Everyone in the office was very professional and kind, and my dogs received their wellness visits and vaccinations for less then a third of the cost of what we paid for the same services locally. The vet was very kind and understanding of my concern about getting a dental done for my older dog, and treated me with respect even though she felt that course of treatment was best and I was still on the fence. I also love that they have the staff hold your animal for you instead of having you hold your animal yourself. Called about a 12 week old puppy having a UTI. Breeder called and said most of the puppies had them. They made me wait almost two weeks to bring in dog. Went in got urine sample and left Then said they would call back next day or two. Never heard back day 3 I called them. I complained and politely. They said they were to busy to give my pup good service and informed me that I could take my business somewhere else. I did get the meds she did have a UTI and this awful place made my pup walk around sick for two weeks. Protect your puppy this place is to busy to do a good job. My wife and I have been taking our two dogs, and more recently a cat, to Dr. Howard's clinic for the last couple of years, and we are so glad that we found this place. Don't be fooled by the name -- they do a lot more than just spays and neuters. I've been told that they're not a "full service" vet, but we haven't yet found any services we need that they don't provide -- so definitely call them first if you're in doubt. Their prices are very reasonable, and for spays and neuters, are unbelievable -- four to five *times* less than any other vet we've called. They do a good business, and though sometimes Dr. Howard is pretty busy, she has always found time to consult with us personally, and is very helpful and knowledgeable about the questions we've had. Best of all, we really trust her and the staff -- and that's a pretty rare feeling to have these days. Couldn't recommend them more! read more

I have a 2 year old female cat with seizures. We had been going to Spay Now since she was born. We were told that our cat could continue to go to their clinic even though they have gone to surgery exclusively. We made an appointment for a routine blood draw to get her seizure medication level and to check her weight. Because of Covid-19 we were not allowed to go in so the staff took her crate and closed the door. Over an hour later my husband went to the door to find out what was happening and why it was taking so long. Apparently my cat scratched "several" employees. Didn't I take my cat to a professional veterinarian hospital? Wouldn't they know how to handle cats and other animals? She is less than 6 pounds and is on seizure medication which is a neurological medication, sedative and mellows her out. They NEVER got her weight or blood work in the hour plus time they had her. When my husband said to give her back, they "generously" said there was no charge. I would hope not! They didn't do anything except keep her for over an hour. When I asked for the veterinarian to call me so I could discuss and find out what happen, she was not impressed and never offered an apology or opportunity to correct the matter. Go at your own and your animals risk. I would not recommend and I will make sure I spread the word. I wish I knew how to post a picture of my " vicious" animal. I realize she has claws and that claw scratches can hurt but again are you not professional veterinarian clinic?? I guess not. read more

This was my first visit to Spay Now, for my new adult cat that needed to be spayed, examined, given vaccines and FeLV blood test. It was a great experience! Their check in process for the spaying procedure is different from other vets - you do not go to the exam room with the animal and observe the doctor examining the pet. Instead, they check in the pet at the front desk. A little different, but no big deal. Overall, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it looks like they took great care of kitty. As a comparison, the vet I've used with a previous pet quoted me a price for these services that was 4 TIMES the price at Spay Now. Quality care, affordable prices. Love this place. I took my 1 year old lab to the vet about a week ago & was told she had a fractured tooth. Which had root damage & needed to be removed...no biggie. However they wanted 800 dollars to removed a tiny bottom tooth. Not even a K-9. So of course I started looking around. After calling spay now & speaking to Megan my nerves started to settle. For a quarter of the price they could take her tooth out & spay her. Awesome! Fast forward to surgery day. Due to covid 19 I couldn't go in so a nice lady came out & got my pup. I got a phone call around 3:30 saying my pup did great & I could come & get her. Come to find out her tooth wasn't even fractured. It was a retained baby tooth pushing though. Which the vet removed for 20 bucks! I paid 199 for the tooth, spay, microchipping & a take home sedative (optional). Now a week ago her vet charged me 145 for a misdiagnoses & a antibiotic she didn't even need. Spay now treated my pup like their own. If I had to do it all over again I would go back!
