The main objective of his Veterinary hospital is to extract as much money as they possibly can from patients. I had a four month old puppy that had had three examinations in the past four months and needed a booster shot or a shot at later required a booster and I was charged for an examination That was about the most slip shot examination I had ever seen. The doctor barely squeeze the dog he did not check the oral cavity or do anything else except go through the motions of an examination to extract a fee from me. I was told the booster shot was covered, and there would be no charge next time And then I got charged ready for this for the shot and for the technician who gave the shot! How else was the dog gonna get a shot if somebody didn't give it to her? The office manager Kim has absolutely no interest in having a courteous discussion with regard to Protocols in the office that are to say the least fee generators. Don't be fooled. This office is sold to a corporation that manages all the fees and all the policies of the office that are centered around making you broke. The office manager is in articulate and a bad listener and in flexible. I would think twice before I went here. Go to tractor supply they have a much better system And their fees are not gonna send you to the poor house. read more

Finally, I found a great vet and wonderful kind, caring staff in the USA! I'm from Denver, Co and I needed to get Boss Hogg in for his well care check up and urgent allergy medicine and shots. I called to see if I could please schedule same day appointment for all this treatment including yearly shots, heart worm and allergy shots, nails clipping and sure enough I got a 1:00pm appointment. When we arrived my dog and I were happy greeted and got an exam room right away. Dr. Davis came to check his ears and gave him a physical and was so nice to my fur baby. The staff treated him as if he was their own family pet. I do come Grasonville, Maryland quite often and me and Boss Hogg are so grateful and lucky to find this amazing veterinary. read more

Two weeks ago I would have given this vet practice five stars, or, I would not have thought about given a review because I was happy with the care and would have gone on about my day. Today I think it's important to share this review to help pet families make sound decisions regarding who they are taking their precious fur babies to, and if you are thinking that I am just a keyboard warrior with a bone to pick with this practice, you are wrong. I am hoping to share my experience to help pet families make good decisions on where to take their pets for care, and I would definitely say don't take them here. My fur babies have gone to this practice since 2019 when I moved to Kent Island. Dr Shaw taught me how to give injections to my senior lab, and Dr Busick has taken care of my newest additions to the family. Two weeks ago, my 20 year old cat was in need of a prescription refill, I called, as I always do to get it refilled and it was like talking with a different practice that ended up with me asking to talk with the practice manager. Nobody would listen and it was clear this practice did NOT want to do what was best for a 20 year old cat who just needed medication refilled to keep her from pooping. I won't go into all the details, just know that even when I produced proof to get my cat's prescription refilled the practice manager CHANGED her story , would not listen, and the only thing that she could say, FIVE times over the course of two weeks was that she would send me my cat's records, and then send me my other two pets records. In other words, she wanted to discharge me from the practice versus listen to me, work with me, to keep my business. It was more important to her to be right than to do the right thing for my senior cat. I don't think pet owners should be fighting to keep their pets at a vet practice. The vet practice should be caring, compassionate, and willing to work with pet families to ensure they are cared for. I did email Dr Busick to talk with him, as this practice manager said I couldn't talk with him about my concerns. No reply. Again, not the type of business for any pet family looking to have compassionate care for their pet. read more

We moved to Kent Island from Olney in late October and in late November, we had to say goodbye to our 14 year old Goldendoodle. We were going to drive the hour to the vet we have been using for over 30 years but decided it would be too overwhelming for us and our dog. We ended up at Chesapeake Veterinary Hospital and I just need to say that they were wonderful! From the first phone call and visit until we left our fur baby after the procedure,. We were treated so kindly that it made an extremely difficult time easier to bear. I highly recommend them and if we decide to get another dog, we will definitely go back to them. read more

Have been with them for years. Even through the lock down, they were able to work out a way to still see patients, coming out to cars to get info, take pets inside for shots, treatment, etc. I'm so glad to be able to go in today for my doggies' teeth cleaning! First, let me say the staff is great, especially the front office team. I would not recommend using Dr. Busick for dental care. I took my dog in on a Thursday for a cleaning and a canine tooth was removed. We were sent home with some pain meds but no antibiotics, which I found strange. I returned Friday morning out of concern my dog wasn't bouncing back/acting right. He wouldn't eat or drink and still had blood dripping from his nose. Was told he had a temp and to remove his coat, pumped him with liquids and a shot for pain. Called again in the afternoon because he STILL wasn't acting right. I was told that some dogs just take awhile and to see how he was the next morning. I regret listening to the office and not following my instincts. We went back Saturday morning and they said that I should take him to Bestgate. Twenty minutes after we arrived at the clinic on Bestgate, my dog was diagnosed with pneumonia and had sepsis. He was dead 6 hours later. Horrible. Tragic. read more

We have brought our animals to this vet for years. We have spent many thousands of dollars here and done absolutely everything they've recommended. When we recently had to put our dog down due to cancer, we thought we could trust them. We asked for our dog to be cremated and returned to us. It was very clear on the consent form, and not a cheap option. We were told we could pick him up in a week. We had to call after 2+ weeks of not hearing from them. Apparently there was a mistake. Our dog ended up part of a mass cremation, and is now lost to us forever. We are devastated. This is absolutely unacceptable. We will be pulling our other animals and going elsewhere. read more

We started taking our Siamese cat to CVH in 1989, when we first moved to Kent Island. Four cats, two dogs, and one rabbit later we are still going there, frequently leaving our elderly cats with them when we travel. Their service is always quick, caring, and friendly. They respect our animals, as well as their owners. Our daughter interned with them one summer, and now she is a vet--but we still go to CVH! read more

We are on vacation for the week and our dog unexpectedly stopped using her front paw. She recently had a surgery on that paw and we were concerned. I called Chesapeake Vet and they were able to get me in that day, treated us with respect and prompt care. The staff and veterinarian, Dr Shaw, were excellent! My family has been using Chesapeake Veterinary for many years for the care of our dogs and cats. All of the vets at this practice are so helpful and understanding when it comes to answering our many questions in the care of our pets, especially the questions concerning our aging Yorkie who requires special food and daily medication. The girls who work the front desk are wonderful. Always so attentive and polite and quick to ask the vets any questions we may have forgotten about during our appointment time. We especially like the reminder cards that arrive in the mail to remind us about upcoming tests for which are pets may be due. This is so helpful to us because our cat requires blood tests every six months as she has a thyroid condition. With the hectic lives we all seem to lead, these reminder cards are so convenient. The fact that the office sends out thank you emails for keeping our pet's appointments, is also a very nice touch. Any time we have needed to contact one of the vets after hours, our calls have been answered very promptly. In our family's opinion, these vets are the best! We not only consider them our pets doctors, but we also consider them our friends. read more

Exorbitantly priced with poor service. They performed surgery on our dog to remove a nyla bone she swallowed. The surgery went well, and while I've been told by another veterinarian that other vet offices routinely perform this surgery for abput $1000 less, the thing that was most irritating was the follow up visit a few weeks after the surgery. Over $300--and the vet spent about 2 minutes looking her over. I called and asked them why it was so high and asked them to consider a reduction. The receptionist told me she would ask and never called back. read more

These people are great. Not only did they accommodate a traveler with a small window of availability who needed to get booster shots for her cat, but they did it in the midst of a day already full of animals. Then they took the time to also give the cat an exam, an ID chip and check for fleas and more time to help me learn about shots that don't cause tumors and the importance of feeding a wide variety of foods to kittens and more. Lots of vets do well with our dogs, but it's special to find someone who knows so much about cats. Their fees were reasonable and their staff caring. You'll like this place. read more

The best! From routine yearly check-ups, to after hours emergencies; my pets have always been perfectly cared for, by the best veterinarians. Also important is the quality of the support staff, from the front office staff to the vet techs, the knowledge and care is the best. Would not consider taking my dogs anywhere else. read more
