(a 1930s Marlene Dietrich 'do) They booked me to come in the day before the ceremony, pin curled my hair to perfection, and the next day styled my hair in the most stunning way possible. To boot, they did an absolutely stunning job on my "there but not there" wedding makeup and I couldn't believe how fresh, even and flawless my skin looked all day. I just finished having a 50 minute relaxation massage with aromatherapy by Amy (the spa owner). It was wonderful! She really listened to my difficult areas and customized the massage to meet all my needs. She even included a 100% natural medicinal oil that helped work my tight spots without having to go all deep tissue on me! Even though I needed a deep tissue massage, I specifically said I wanted this to be a relaxing massage. She was able to work out my problem areas while I was still able to enjoy the massage! The spa is a really fun tiki theme upfront with comfortable seating areas. I particularly love the "meditation cave" in the back where you have the massages and facials. The very dim light, sounds of frogs, crickets and waterfalls but you quickly in the right frame of mind for a massage! This place is a 5 star organic experience! Hard to find in these parts! The "shopping mall" that others referred to is one if the best I've ever seen. Just a few shops surrounded by lush tropical banana trees and palms with multiple parrots and other birds! Terrible tea. Owner was nice, only tried the boba black milk tea here and felt like I had to warn others. This place sells upscale cold water with hard tapioca for 6$ each. I went to Spatini yesterday for an airbrush organic spray tan. It did not disappoint. Amy was even nice enough to test the product on me the day before, to ensure that I didn't have any sort of allergic reaction. I have had a number of spray tans over the last few years, and this was as good as it gets! The price $45 for a full body spray tan is in line wth the market. I was booked for a 10:30 spray tan and was stuck waiting outside the spa for 45 minutes, as the owner didn't show up to open the spa until 11:15 despite having booked me herself on the phone. The spray tan itself was also problematic. She had mentioned that the spray gun was finicky, and it completely broke midway through. Although she assured me that she had fixed the gun and the spray solution was coming out, I left and after waiting for the "development period" I saw absolutely no tan. While the owner was friendly and kind, and partially discounted the service because of the issue, that did not make up for the fact that I should not have paid at all given that I did not get a spray tan. I am not one to write a bad review, but I just wish I had known to go somewhere where I could actually get a spray tan before my vacation! Ugh read more

Bought a gift certificate for my wife's birthday. When she went to have a pedicure and manicure she was very disappointed in the service she received. Not only did she not receive the pedicure upgrade that I paid for she was charged extra for the polish she picked out. They should have told her the polish was extra, they did not. My wife said it was the worst manicure and pedicure she ever received I provided my contact info and Amy never contacted me like she said she would. She originally stated that my wife DID NOT receive what I paid for and would provide a refund which I never received. Now 6 months later she changed her story and states that my wife received what I paid for. She is right I will make sure everyone on the island knows how they do business Amy at Spatini tea bar is woman of her word. I did much research before booking my husband and I deep tissue massages!! We frequently get massages and we decided to get the more expensive massage that was compared to a hot stone massage on their website! We received the bamboo massage that we signed up for. Spatini advertises that they are a TEA bar, NOT once were we offered tea. My masseuse SMACKED gum during the ENTIRE massage and did an AWFUL job! The massage felt awful and she was rolling the bamboo over areas that didn't make sense and it was very uncomfortable! My husband did not enjoy his massage at all either! When I called, I first spoke to the manager and she told me that they don't do bamboo massages very often at all so we probably should have gone with the relaxation massages!! Wow!! We spent $200 total for these massages and to be told that?!? The owner who I spoke to, who was also my masseuse become irritated at me even though I was very respectful in explaining why I was unhappy and she...HUNG UP ON ME!! Not ONCE did she apologize!! I had a bridal hair & makeup trial and was very unhappy with the service. I have never taken the time to write reviews, however , I use them all the time. So I felt it was necessary to write how disappointed I was in Spatini. I booked the appointment for hair and makeup Bridal trial with owner Amy. She was very nice and then again confirmed the day before appointment. I arrive with my mom, was greeted and ask for a beverage. Salon VERY small tiny and already felt crowded with just 3-4 people in salon. My hair appt started and stylist was nice and was working with me to achieve the up do I wanted. THEN, right in the middle of my hair undo( with hair in my face etc) Amy the owner says she wants to start on my makeup. It was obvious she double booked something, because even the hair stylist said ," how are you going to do this, I am still working on her hair?" Amy proceeded to GLOP on mineral makeup without even asking what I like, what i normal wear in colors palette, or a look i was trying to achieve for my makeup. I told her I felt very "cake" face and it was too much. She did have to wipe off ALOT I looked very unnatural just on the foundation. The lighting was terrible. She proceeded to keep applying makeup between working on SOME ELSE'S NAILS and coming over to apply me in stages!! Who does that? she put foundation,, blush, then stepped away 5-10 min, came back did eyes, stepped away and then painted someones nails! really, who's appointment was she working on??? she kept saying, don't worry , I didn't forget about you." I will be right over,, to finish mascara. I have been to many salons with brides and have gotten my hair and makeup done for others weddings, and you get your done then move onto makeup area. It was hot and true disaster. I was starting to get very upset and was holding it all inside, as my mother and i are really being bothered by the way the owner was not even catching on how frustrated upset and how wrong she was to apply makeup on the middle of hair appt. This was a trial and i was paying for this full service, we should not have been squeezed in for the makeup trial! The owner Amy, even called to confirm my appointment how can she overbooked herself. The icing on the cake was...... , I asked to step outside 1-3x to see makeup in natural sun light since the wedding will be in Oct during the day, and when i came back in and looked in hand mirror, Amy commented" OH, hold the mirror like that, that gives me better light." As she noticed i had raccoon eyes from all the makeup that drifted to under my eye. !!! Really, you put in makeup with such horrible lighting and even an employee at the front desk , said, how you can see with such bad lighting?! " and of course Amy, the owner shot her a nasty look. So , this was a terrible $125 spent at SPATINI and I do not recommend this salon to any brides. Besides it is so small and hot how could they fit more then 1-2 people at the hair stations. From the bleeding of my big toe to the excruciating pain in my finger nail bed I wanted to ask for proof of certification. Great massage! Skip the resort places and come here, it's basically the same experience for practically half the price. The manicure was so-so. (Thus the 3 stars.) Spatini has a very fun, relaxing Thai-tiki atmosphere. There are no pedicure thrones, just a pan of hot water for pedicures. The massage areas are semi-private with curtains between the tables or floor mats for Thai massages. The massage area is very dark, with lots of bamboo and textured cloths draped over a typical white ceiling. They have worked hard to create a unique and relaxing atmosphere in what is basically a mall store. The big question: Does it work? Yes and no. I enjoyed my services here but that was because I was the only customer! If the back area was filled with strangers getting massages 3 feet away from me, I doubt I would have felt as comfortable and relaxed. I really enjoyed my massage therapists, both were very kind and experienced. I'm trying to figure out whether I would return or not - my lasting impression is that it was kind of awkward. I went in to get a hair cut. I have longer hair, I wanted a few inches off so that my hair was touching my shoulders. I am a performer, I specifically told the stylist that my hair needed to be able to go into a bun near the crown of my head. She gave me a shapeless bob. I can barely get my hair into a ponytail and I will now need to use a full box of bobby pins every day to put in my hair piece. Clearly, she is not capable of following directions and will just do whatever she wants. I would not recommend getting a hair cut here if you have any investment in the outcome. read more

Best massage on Sanibel and Captiva and it won't break the bank. While waiting for your service, you get to enjoy a cup of tea and relax. The massage rooms are dark which is a nice escape from the bright sunshine outdoors. It allows you to truly relax. I spent 3 hours getting a gel manicure.When the initial gel manicure bled into my cuticles and parts of my nails were not completely covered do to the manicurist rushing we had to start all over again. It took more time to remove the old gel not to mention the scraping and acetone remover on my nails and cuticles. While finishing my second manicure she made comments about the rough shape my cuticles were in and how short my nails were. Not my problem They are the professionals. If she couldnt provide a professional job she should have said it up front. To add insult to injury no discount or compensation was offered When mentioned. Not a great way to start my vacation. A long time visitor to Sanibel Island, I had my first massage at Spatini recently. Given that I have had many massages both in my home city and at resorts/spas while traveling, I think I am quite qualified to evaluate their service. I opted for the 50 minute relaxation massage (using organic coconut oil) for $85. My appointment was made about a week in advance. The day prior, I was called and asked if my appointment could be moved back by 15 minutes. I agreed, but found this curious because I was told when scheduling that 3:00 was their latest massage appointment. When I arrived (right on time), I was kept waiting for about 10-15 more minutes until the massage therapist arrived from Fort Myers. The massage therefore started late and was mediocre at best. During the massage, my therapist was whispering to someone in the next "cubicle", which was another tiny area with a desk. The two "cubicles" were separated only by long bamboo sticks. The 50 minute massage lasted about 45 minutes. One would think I would get the full 50 minutes, if for no other reason than my inconvenience in changing the start time and then waiting for the therapist (not to mention paying for it)! The facility is not impressive either. Inside the front door (which is upstairs in the Jerry's Foods complex), there's a small "bar" on the left and hair stylist stations on the right. The "spa" facilities are down a dark hallway, where one can barely maneuver due to the absence of light. The tiny rooms (barely larger than the massage table itself) are separated only by hanging bamboo sticks. As far as I could tell, no one else was present while I was being massaged, but I can't imagine that total silence is easy to maintain in such an environment, let alone privacy while changing. The only positive experience was the receptionist, who was friendly and quite accommodating. Go to Sanibel Day Spa instead; its "Island Sampler" package is divine, and it's facilities are far superior. read more

HORRIFIC! I'd put negative stars if possible. Charges more than 2x times any salon in the county. I went to get full highlights for shoulder length hair. I decided to do half highlights and half low lights and was charged $240! The break out on the receipt was 120 for highlight and 120 for low light. Even more than Manhattan salons. And to top it off, the owner hung up on me when I questioned the prices. Am absolutely appalled by the terrible customer service and for being robbed. An update on Spatini for reviewers. I wrote the previous email immediately after I left the establishment. I stewed on the situation for a while and upon return from my vacation, I decided to contact the owner. The owner was very professional and listened to my story. In the end, she refunded me back $25 (the difference between a wash/cut/blow and the "makeover"). I would encourage future patrons, if you have concerns or issues concerning your experience, to contact the owner. She did indeed "make things right" as best she could. read more

Searched for a nail salon to get a gel-manicure. I would have thought that with this salon being located on this exclusive resort island, that my nail service would have been much better. No true manicure, the owner put a little oil on my cuticles after my nails were painted. She didn't even completely remove all the old polish. Left unpainted areas near my cuticles. I'll stick with the 25 year old kid who does my nails at home. He is much more into detail than Amy was. The tea was good, over priced. The salon did find a time for me the day I called, but, maybe they aren't that busy due to doing a poor job. read more
