It took me FOREVER to find my medication. Well not forever but over 6 months. My doctor suggested I contact Sparta Pharmacy which is over an hour away from where I live so I was nervous. Not only was Sparta Pharmacy able to order my medication to fill my script but they had it filled and delivered to my front door in only a couple of days. I am blown away by the ease of this process. I hate talking on the phone (don't judge me!) so the fact that I never had to during this whole process was a plus for sure! **UPDATE APRIL 6th** I forgot I already left the above review and wrote another one which I am just going to add below Of all the pharmacies I've used, and I've used many, Sparta Pharmacy do it the best. The least hassle, cheapest price, and best at communicating. Way better than CVS, Walgreens, or any of the "big box" stores, and I've used ALL of all! They simply are the best and the delivery puts them over the edge as they are at least an hour drive from where I live. I can't recommend them enough! read more

This pharmacy is the best I have frequented in my lifetime. Sharad is an amazing pharmacist and the epitome of what a sole proprietor should be in such a highly sensitive and high touch business. While I understand that other customers may have had challenging experiences from time to time in the past, in my opinion those experiences are short lived because of unavoidable front counter turnover as new colleagues are properly trained. Received a call from the Pharmacist. She provided credible information as to The insurance situation as well as the 30 day supply situation. I also spoke to the insurance and it was Anthem that pushed the date of availability, not the pharmacy. Sparta Pharmacy is fine to use. In fact I am still a customer there.. read more

Customer service has definitely went downhill over the last several months. This is after several occasions. When you call, the automated message recommends to text. When you text, you sometimes don't get a response for hours, sometimes not until the next day. I called and was on hold for 15 minutes and just hung up when I reached the pharmacy. They have about 6 people working behind the counter, some looked busy on the phone, only 2 people in line. There has to be something wrong with this picture. Not as organized as they used to be either. I plan on switching to another pharmacy. read more

If there was less then a star, they would get it. I transferred my meds from one place to them cause my co-pay was cheaper. My third time there and for the third time, 27 hours later, my meds were not ready and this time was for antibiotics plus regular med refills. They had a ton of people working so that was not this issue. Tried to support mom and pop stores but sometimes, cheaper is not better. read more

Prescriptions are rarely ready when they are suppose to be. When doctor sends a prescription in, you are expected to call pharmacy before they fill it. They often don't have the medication prescribed and takes 24 hours to get it. read more

This is the best pharmacy I have ever used. The employees are very helpful and the pharmacist goes beyond what is expected. Always has time to answer your questions and go over all of your medications and concerns. I was out of the country and unfortunately became very ill. My daughter in law got in touch with the pharmacist and helped me navigate through my medical care in a foreign country. My daughter in law would get my concerns answered and get back to me. I never had a pharmacist go out of his way like this. He would look up the foreign medications if he did not know the name and get back to my daughter in law. I highly recommend Sparta Pharmacy to everyone. The individual, specialized service is so worth switching pharmacies. I know this is a family owned pharmacy and I'm not sure if they're short staffed or what the issue is. My doctor only uses this pharmacy for my medication. The first month I had no issues. They promptly filled my prescription and I received the text to pay for it and get it delivered. Was actually surprisingly convenient. The passed 2 months, I've had to call..each time on hold for 40 minutes or longer. For them to tell me both times that's my prescription has been ready for days and I guess they just never decided to reach out and let me know. Two months in a row that I now have to drive 45 minutes to this pharmacy to pick up my meds because someone dropped the ball on their end. Again, maybe they don't have enough people working or they're overwhelmed with work, but there has to be a better way to improve customer service for clients, because this is unacceptable, especially when dealing with medications that patients need. read more

Refills called in over a day and still not filled. Have to wait. This has happened many time.

I broke my wrist and was in a tremendous amount of pain and my doctor gave me a prescription to help relieve it. I went to CVS to get the prescription filled and was told they were completely out of this medication for another month (apparently this particular painkiller is popular in the area), but I could drive to a CVS elsewhere to see if they had it in stock. Luckily Sparta pharmacy came to the rescue and was able to fill my prescription right away! read more

As a prescribing neuropsychriast , I myself and all my patients are frustrated with the Walgreens and other chain stores. Sparta Rx is by far the most efficient, kindest staff , and get all the meds needed, at bargain prices, helping out with insurance aND PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. Once I introduce them, with the deliverable and the efficient procurement, patients want to continue. Long valley and greenhills pharmacy are also great, I think maybe affiliated? If you asked me a month ago I would have rated this pharmacy stars,until today. Today i walk in to get my regular prescription filled. Than I ask if they have insulin syringes . They get a lady and she says over 20packs have to be prescribed. This is something I know, because I have been a diabetic for over 6 years now . Type 1. They tell me go to cvs. I go there . They tell me to stop and shop . I go there . Get turned around. All these places say try Sparta pharmacy . MY pharmacy I have been using for over 2 years . I felt completely judged in every one of these places I went . And I still am looking for insulin syringes so that i can actually take my insulin . I do not think i will ever be going back to this pharmacy . Use to rant about it until today 4-20-2019 . I'd give this 0 stars but the counter girls are the only good thing left. I never leave reviews. This is my second. The first was for CVS. I was a customer of this pharmacy. I am all about the "little guy." I stuck it out for a very long time before deciding to go back to CVS. As on the bottom of this review: I am not family, socially involved with anyone at Sparta Pharmacy or CVS and can't believe how much the experience at CVS is over a small mom and pop shop. Like I said I never have left reviews on Yelp. But it is kind of interesting how CVS has been around Sparta a lot longer but has 17 reviews, Sparta Pharmacy has 12 reviews--all of which are 5 star. Come on. First of all, it is my OPINION, most of these reviews are from the staff and/or family. They are just not truthful. How could a business possibly get 5 stars across the board from everyone. There is always several people that are not happy regardless of what you do for them. Here is my review that I left on CVS as well as incorporates why you should stay away from SPARTA PHARMACY and go somewhere else! It is 2017. I am talking about the Sparta CVS. I am all about the small guy. I am an entrepreneur myself and unfortunately am disabled so require a great deal of medication. After being treated, abused and talked about at Sparta Pharmacy (yes the new one) along with just them acting as if they are doing me a favor, not properly submitting insurance (which ended up costing me hundreds if not thousands of dollars that I wasn't suppose to pay) -- after all these negative reviews of CVS I didn't want to go. I actually went there with my list of medications, spoke to the manager, explained my situation and after 2 months I have now been a customer for approximately 1+ year of CVS in Sparta. 1. The ENTIRE pharmacy staff is extremely nice. 2. If I ask for something to be ready quickly, it takes 15 minutes. At Sparta Pharmacy, I would call AHEAD OF TIME, wait 2 hours and it still wouldn't be ready and then they would make me wait another hour. It always took me an HOUR at a pharmacy even if I dropped prescriptions off BEFORE hand. 3. CVS has employees. All I can say is the employees in Sparta are all real nice to me (I don't expect them to but they just go out of their way), when I do have to wait I see they give the same treatment to EVERYONE else. 4. I'm sorry but being all about small business I don't even want to write this as I don't believe I have ever put down a small business. But SPART PHARMACY = -1 star. I have no relationship or affiliation with Sparta Pharmacy OR CVS. I do not know any of the people on a social level. So I feel that these reviews are definitely either bogus or from Sparta Pharmacy. I do see the staff at Sparta Pharmacy doing this. Additionally what makes me sick is when Sparta Pharmacy first opened, I got about 20+ people from Sparta to change to them. 1) They never thanked me. 2) They didn't even give me just ONE co-pay on them...nada, zip, nothing. My appreciation was shown (as mentioned before) as if filling a prescription was a FAVOR. DO NOT GO TO SPARTA PHARMACY. If you don't like CVS for whatever reason then Stop & Shop is also a better alternative, I hear they take a little longer to fill prescriptions but they are nice from what I have been told. read more

I have moved from a larger chain pharmacy to Sparta Pharmacy for the individualized care. The pharmacist is always ready to answer any questions and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. During a snowstorm, they even tried to work with me to deliver my prescription, and were apologetic when the driver had stopped delivering (which was absolutely understandable and a good choice!). The best service! I've moved all of my family's prescriptions here. Last time I went to pick up a prescription, I got there just after they had locked the doors for the day. As I was walking back to my car after realizing they were closed, I heard someone open the door. Never have my husband and I encountered such efficiency, willingness to help, and genuine concern for our well-being as we always receive here. Everyone behind their counter, regardless of title, is always ready to take care of us, and we have never been subjected to anything less than professional service, combined with such caring and uplifting attitudes. I used to be very happy with Sparta pharmacy and recommended it to other Mommies like myself. But recently I have had a negative experience and I am NOT coming back. They might have gotten overwhelmed and can't handle the demand,I don't know but I am extremely disappointed. the reason I was using the pharmacy in the first place was because I wanted to help a local business but they didn't treat me fairly. So here is the story. I dropped my prescription off, a girl with lots of piercings on her face (no judgment- just plain description) told me it would be ready in 15 min. I had to pick my kids from school, so I thought I could pick them up and get the prescription after. 40 min later, I stop by and the same girl told me again it would be ready in 15 min. I waited for another 20 min, I am getting impatient because I am in pain, hungry kids, etc. I left. I get a message from them 40 min later that they FINALLY filled up my prescription, which was for antibiotics, nose spray and steroid for 4 days. It took them about 2 hrs to fill it up. Sparta Pharmacy is the best place in Sparta to get your prescriptions filled and your Health needs met. They're prices are great and their hours are convenient AND as of the time of this review, THEY DELIVER!! They opened around March of 2015 so they're fairly new but EVERY TIME I have gone there, they have been polite, courteous and professional. And they can also handle your special needs to! For example, if you need a medication compounded, just ask! Something ordered? Just ask! Can't find anything on the shelf, just ask! FYI, just so you don't expect them to deliver at the drop of a hat, their delivery schedule was twice a day as of the time of this review (Aug 11th, 2015.) Around Noontime and then again at closing. But to be on the safe-side, just call and they'll help you out. PS. They even have big boxes of chocolate in case you need a box for the woman or special person in your life. My Mom LOVES chocolate so it makes it really convenient for me to pick up a box of chocolate when I go get her medication. They've got Whitman's, Russell Stover & even Jersey Girl!! Yum, Yum!!! PPS.
