I found some really cute items and I was particularly drawn to the Gather Home: Home Goods & Gifts section. I ended up buying more than a few items but was really happy with my purchase. The lady at the counter was very sweet and friendly. She had a good aura about her. Overall, they have some really cute items for gift-giving. I especially loved the gift bags I purchased for future gifts to put inside them. So cute!

Apparently, the origin story of The Gilded Nest is that it started as a Christian bookstore. After…read morea while, the owner thought that if she changed it to a Christian bookstore AND a home decor and handcrafted goods store, the store would attract more customers. That seems like some 4D chess right there, and good business sense. I can imagine more people would want to visit a home goods store than they would a Christian bookstore, but I could be wrong. That said, there's still a Christian bookstore in the back of the store, with all sorts of nonfiction and fiction texts. (Even Christian romance books! Sizzling.) The rest of the store is home decor, candles, signs, dish towels, art supplies, greeting cards, artificial flowers, vintage pieces, and handmade jewelry and art from local artists. It's a mishmash of all kinds of things, and everything is arranged just so, and the whole store is pleasing to walk through. It also smells nice because of all the candles. The Gilded Nest also offers art classes and creative workshops, like flower arranging. They have a little art studio in a corner. This is a store that my mom would have loved. She liked to decorate her house with hand-painted signs with Bible verses on them, chalk-painted shabby chic furniture and cute little trinkets. As soon as I walked into the store, I was like, "Oh man! I wish my mom could be here! She would appreciate this." Most of the store is not my style at all, but I liked walking around and looking at all of the things and thinking about what my mom might have bought. There are lots of things here, and it's a great place to browse and maybe pick up a gift or two.

It feels so intimate especially with the books laying on the shelves flat instead of standing up. This way you can read the titles easier instead of having to lean your head over to read the spines. This bookstore is well organized. Our old friend Ken said it best! The books are grouped by genre first, then alphabetical by author within the individual genre sections. I had no problem finding my favorite authors, Lee Child, Michael Connelly and Harlan Coben. For Karen Marie Moning, I had to ask, but the staff knew exactly where she was without having use a computer. She was on the very bottom and we had to get down to the floor to see her books. No wonder I couldn't find her selections. But fortunately the staff is very knowledgeable about their shop and very willing to help you. I was pressed for time so I didn't get to shop for as long as I would have liked to, but I found one gem for only $5. I had to rely on Books In Series Order dot com slash "Author's Name" instead of my usual typed lists (they were not as up to date as I would have liked). I'm near the end of reading all the Reacher novels and Harry Bosch novels have been completed. I'm beginning to buy all the Harlan Coben stand alone books I've skipped over in the past. I'm finding the newer Moning books to be very rare finds in her Fae series. I gotta come back here when I have more time. I just know there are more treasures hiding from me but I'll find them because I am determined.

I've always wanted to go, but didn't know what to expect so I waited. How silly of me! It's bright and clean and is full of books - both new and used (mostly used, of course). The prices are very fair and there were some great deals. Even new bestseller books were a dollar or more cheaper than the manufacturer price. A great deal of: - romance (historical romance paperbacks, especially) - children's books (used and new!) - westerns - Young Adult - Large Print - and basically everything you can think of! The woman worker provided great customer service - she explained how everything is set up and the multiple sales that were going on. I told her she had an adorable store and she told me it was her mother's! How awesome to have a family owned local bookstore in the neighborhood! I will definitely come back. Today I got some pirate bookmarks as a gift but there's a lot more to check out. You could be in here for hours looking at all the books.

You can then turn your scent into a candle, body lotion, bath salts, perfume, reed diffuser, car air freshener, and more. The location is also great, right near Mass Ave and the Bottleworks District, making it a fun option for a date night, girls' night, or even a family outing. When we arrived, a staff member explained everything and was very helpful and receptive to our questions. You scan a QR code that takes you through the process of selecting your scents and choosing what you want to make. You can also adjust the intensity of individual scents to customize your final fragrance. The scents are organized into categories like floral, citrus, woody, and gourmand, which makes it easier to navigate the MANY options. They also provide coffee beans to reset your sense of smell, along with strips of paper to test different scent combinations before making your final choice. I especially loved that they had seasonal scents available--we went in the fall, and there were some really beautiful options that captured the season. I ended up combining patchouli, musk, jasmine, and vanilla and made a reed diffuser, while my boyfriend created his own combination and made a car air freshener. The staff makes your product right there in the store, so you don't have to come back later to pick it up. They also offer 20% off refills when you bring back your empty container, and you can refill it with the same scent or create a new one. My biggest downside was the price and the quality of the finished products. I originally wanted to make a perfume, but the prices were around 80-90, which was more than I wanted to spend. We also found that our finished products weren't nearly as strong as the scents were during the testing process. My reed diffuser in particular smelled very strong on the testing strip, but once it was made into the diffuser, the scent was barely noticeable. So, while I wouldn't necessarily go expecting a phenomenal final product, I would definitely recommend going for the experience itself. Overall, I had a really fun time and would recommend The Aroma Lab, especially if you love fragrances and enjoy experimenting with different scents. I loved being able to smell so many individual fragrances and play around with different combinations. It made for a really fun and memorable date night!
