Although I did not buy my chainsaw from Sparrow and Kennedy Tractor Company, I took my Stihl 271 Farm Boss saw in for warranty repair there. The gentleman informed me that the tech that evaluated my saw denoted I ran the saw with the brake on and ruined the clutch and some internal parts so the warranty would not cover it. First of all, I never use the brake even when I start my saw. I have been cutting wood for over 40 years, own two other older saws (no problems) and generally place the saw on the ground with my foot securely holding the saw down to crank it. I mentioned this to the service desk representative and asked him if there was any other way that my saw could have been damaged. He "smugly" replied that that was the only way that could happen. Well, I researched the fact and his "smug" reply is incorrect because there are numerous other ways this could happen as well. I will elevate this issue to Stihl and never step foot in Sparrow and Kennedy Tractor Company. On another note, the sales department is outstanding. They have great attitudes and are very helpful. Before this bad experience with the service department rep, I purchased a Stihl BR 800 blower from Sparrow and Kennedy. I guess if it ever needs service I will take it elsewhere, although I live close by the business. read more
