I had my car towed to them about a month ago, it took them several days before they even checked it out. $601 later I had my car back, but the exact same problem occurred three or four days later. They refuse to stand by their repair, so I'm having my car towed someplace else. read more

I had this shop pick up and install an engine in my car. They said they could get the engine for $80 and the engine install would be around $2,000. I was fine with this until the flatbed showed up to get my engine. They had no means of lifting it onto the bed, so the guy who stated he had never transported an engine before tried lifting the engine by hand off of my engine stand. He dropped it right in my driveway damaging it. I spoke to the owner of the shop about fixing the engine and he began yelling at me. He stated that I could just take the engine back home and he threw the papers down on his counter. End result... I am out 2,000 and now have a damaged engine thanks to this shop. Shop elsewhere for a good mechanic. read more

So tired of scammers, I call the company number, asks does he do battery jumps he says yes, asks me my city and says $50, I say fine I have my CC, he says "oh...my shop is closed today can you do cash" weird to me so I say "no thanks and hang up" I then have him call me back from a different number and say "oh I can call my brother/cousin who works at another shop for you. I dropped my car off at Sparks to have a hydraulic clutch line replaced last Friday. I knew that it wouldn't be done until at least Monday. I was assured by Gary that they could do the work. By noon Monday, I hadn't heard anything from them regarding the repair of my car. So I called them. He told me that he was having a difficult time finding the part, and he'd get back to me soon. Didn't hear from him again until my wife called on Tuesday at noon. I won't try to quote what exactly was said, but my wife said that Gary was very rude to her. After Gary spoke to my wife, he called me explaining that the part was obsolete, and wasn't sure where to go from there. At an auto repair shop??? They don't know where to go next?!? I asked him for the exact name of the part, which he gave me. I told him I'd look around to see what I could find. Literally, under 20 seconds. Rock Auto had it online for a very reasonable price. Gary told me that labor alone was going to be in the $250 ballpark. Long story short, we found a garage that took the time to cross reference the part number to find the compatible part for my car. It took the guy under 5 minutes to cross reference what I needed. If I would have gotten there earlier, it would've been done today; probably yesterday. But since I wasted away so much time dealing with Spark's Auto, I have to wait until tomorrow now. Oh, and the kicker you ask? At the other garage, $190 out the door. Parts AND labor. And as I've said before, my wife and I like to use locally owned stores for parts and service. But not here. This is the reason why so many people prefer taking their business to chain businesses. I was told that I was in good hands when I dropped my car off there. Not so much. For one garage to charge me $60 less for parts and labor versus $250 for just labor? That's a no-brainer. Even my neighbor said that when he spoke to Gary, he seemed disinterested in working on my car. I even had my car towed for $10 cheaper than what Sparks wanted. Steer clear of Sparks Auto. This place was so helpful after a stressful morning wherein Discount tire told me I needed a new tire. These folks said they could fix it. They did and it is still working after a week. While they worked I waited in their comfortable and clean waiting area. The owner (or at least I think he is the owner) offered me coffee, tea, and they even had a huge bowl of bananas for customers to help themselves. They were quick and did good work. At first Gary was polite but then when he up charged the quoted price from 65 dollars to 135 dollars and I raised a concern, he proceeded to talk down to me like I was a child. When I left a negative review on Facebook he continued to harass me. I was taken advantage of because, I believe, I am a young and trusting female. I have told and will continue to tell everyone I care about not to give this place their business they are thief's and rude when one doesnt lie down and take it. Typical adult bully. read more

I took my Truck to Sparks Auto for a large anti-freeze leak on 1-16-2016. Little did I know that it would turn into a three month nightmare! 12 visits, $600.00, over 40 hours of my time, and a grand in lost wages. All for an anti-freeze leak that I was given a $140.00 estimate at another mechanic a couple months prior. I requested a pressure check to determine the source of the leaks. Gary showed me a hose that was cut by a moving belt. I was charged $102.76. I drove to the nearest gas station, and checked the anti-freeze, and it had all leaked out within five minutes! When I got home, I called Gary, and was told to come in again. I set up an appointment a few days later. He told me the hose his mechanic put on had a very large slit in it.: Why didn't they see this? Also, Why didn't they check their pavement, and the anti-freeze level, before I left? When I got home, all the anti-freeze was gone again! The same day, I called Gary and again set up another appointment. on January 27th. This time Gary, and his young mechanic, informed me that the reason for the very quick dumping of all the anti-freeze was a faulty water pump. The mechanic told me that it had a very slow leak that would take a couple of months to drain. I told him it was a very fast leak, but he assured me the water pump was the cause, so I agreed to have it replaced. Weeks prior, I had a full system check, and the water pump was never mentioned as a source of the leak. Gary, and his mechanic, told me I should get it done because my old 1996 Dodge truck was in great shape. I had them replace it assuming they were honest, as someone had recommended them to me. I paid a whopping $369.35, Gary even charged me another $10.59 for anti-freeze that had all leaked out because of their mistake! After I left, once again, all the anti-freeze leaked out within five minutes! I realized the water pump was not the problem, and I had been lied to! I called Gary, and he told me to come back the next morning. This time he told me that the hose, attached to the water pump, slipped off! He claimed to have repaired it once again, but when I left, all the anti-freeze again leaked out! Again, I called right back, and again set up another appointment. Gary was sounding more and more agitated every time I immediately called back to set up another appointment. I doubt there was even a problem with the water pump.because of the recent full system check. I requested the old water pump back and they told me it was already at the bottom of their dumpster. I continued requesting a pressure check to determine where the major leak was that they kept missing. Obviously, they don't have the device to pressure check a 1996 Dodge Truck, and should have just told me that upfront so I could have gone elsewhere. Finally, after spending all of February, with another four visits, the anti-freeze started to take one-two days before it would all leak out, but was still costing me a great deal of money constantly adding anti-freeze. I was tired of repeatedly going back, losing wages,and anti-freeze. I finally returned again on 3-7-2016, and Gary showed me two very uniform, side by side, holes in a hose that looked like someone had made them with a pitchfork. I told them I didn't have the money right now to repair more leaks. I knew these strange double side by side holes were very fishy! They assured me the final bill would be no more than $50.00. One hour later, they were done, and I went to pay a bill of $111.76! I knew I couldn't complain until the anti-freeze leak was finally fixed. I told Gary he just told me $50.00, as did his mechanic. Gary, told me that the additional $60+ dollars was all tax to insult my intelligence. What kind of nut-job would make such a crazy comment like that? He also told me to trash my truck! I went into my truck and looked at the bill. Gary charged me $21.18 for two gallons of anti-freeze, $12.70, for two quarts of oil, and an additional $26.00 for supplies. The price of $50.00 was given after they checked it over for a half hour. Before I left my house, I filled the anti-freeze tank with distilled water, since it was 70 degrees, to save money and was full when I arrived and checked it. When I left, I checked and there was only distilled water in the tank, and the oil I was charged for was not added either! Crooks! Also, in a couple of days, the distilled water all leaked out, so again a major leak was not fixed! At this point, I couldn't confront him about the bogus fuel charge because the leak still hadn't been fixed! I came back a few days later and once again they didn't fix the leak, and while driving home my power steering gave out as well my reverse! I went back on 4-6-2016 and Gary kept my truck for two days and the leak was finally fixed, but he wouldn't tell me what he finally figured out to stop the leak! Also, a quote of $850.00 to fix the power steering gear box and pump, and $1,750.00 to fix the transmission with no reverse! read more

My usual mechanic is in Southfield, but I had a power steering line failure down by Westland - I tried to tighten the visible clamp by the leak myself but only succeeded in getting covered in power steering fluid - so I went to nearby Sparks. I was working long day shifts 6 days a week so I was happy to be able to arrange to drop it off and leave the keys before work and made arrangements to pick it up after they were closed by paying over the phone. Lucky for me, I got off about 10 minutes before they closed and called, so they offered to wait for me - I got there about 5 minutes after they officially closed and there was someone waiting, they were friendly and the waiting room is really neat - they've got an old Ford - maybe a Model T - in there. Anyway, I'd have given a better rating but I felt like they took advantage on price - it was nearly $500 for a ten year old Chevy truck power steering line (pressurized). I was glad I was working a lot, because that stung a bit, nonetheless everything seems fine now and I'm glad they were able to help. I would probably go back if I couldn't get my vehicle up to Southfield. read more
