The last time I purchased at Sparkle Kids was over ten years ago at their South Lamar location. That location has since closed. The Burnet location is the original and only location remaining. Unfortunately their boys section wasn't as extensive as their girls section but I was still able to find a pair of swimming trunks I traded. I traded in a boys Tea Collection t shirt for 3 - 6 months for $3. I plan to sell more clothes in the future but am worried about their banking app that I don't have installed. read more

Been coming here for years to buy and sell excellent kids clothes. I just sold $180 retail value new of gently loved and new things and got $22 credit. I wanted the other option ($17 cash) check like they had done for years but they are now not writing checks or giving cash. It's a bank program app which I don't have. I hope they change this as I want to continue my relationship. Hopefully the owner will not just have one form of bank payment available and go back to checks. read more

I really really want to love this place. However, you're better off selling at Once Upon a Child or another local consignment. On the phone I confirmed which brands they take when I made my selling appointment. I brought in a tub of clothes that were all the name brands they carry and were in great condition or even better than some of what they carry in the store (Hanna Andersson, Janie & Jack, Nordstrom, Gap, etc). They didn't take a single item of clothing and they took the one toy I brought in. The girl goes "we didn't need any of this but we can offer you $5 for this" and then the other gal working says "actually we can offer you $3 cash or $4 trade in." It was awkward. I purchased my one thing and I left. Not sure I plan to go back. I left with a bad taste of pretension in my mouth and annoyed I wasted my time. read more

I can only speak for my experience of trying to sell here... I'm sure it's a lovely place to shop... but offering $5 cash $7 trade for a brand new pair of upscale European shoes that cost $65 new is pretty bad. They were BRAND NEW and I only brought them because they didn't fit the intended wearer. Hmph. read more

I love the spacious feel of the environment. Most re-sale shops feel like a thrift store, overcrowded with stuff and cluttered. SparkleKIDS feels expansive with the great window light and organized racks of clothing. The times I've visited I've always felt welcome, and the owner is friendly and open. My husband was pleasantly surprised how clean and organized everything was.You can tell the store is selective and tries to only sell quality items. If SparkleKids won't sell it, I don't want it. They only carry the higher-end goods (Gap, Janie & Jack, Tea Collection, local Austin designers, labels-I-don't-know-but-make-the-cutest-clothes, etc.) and, while I'm sometimes a little skeptical to put myself into used goods, I have no hesitations about putting my little darling in the items at SparkleKids; they're clean and in wonderful shape. It's also well-organized, with manageable collection. Second-hand stores are often off-putting because of the sheet volume of the disorganized array or items. But not so here. More than just clothes, they have new hair accessories, small jewelery-type items, shoes, and used toys and nursery goods in the back, with the toys to keep mobile kids occupied. I stumbled upon this place after getting my hair cut next door. What a find! This place is great. Its got lots of nice kids clothes, and it's very manageable to navigate. Some of the items they had were priced really well. Others were a little overpriced, but that is the way it is at any resale shop. I'm looking forward to going back and continuing to check out their selection. Here's one final tip. They have a kids room in the back complete with toys and everything. Love, love, love this place! They don't take everything people bring, which is nice because what they do take is super cute and great quality. They are selective on what they take which is more than I can say for others in the area. They don't take bedding flat out and I assume it's for multiple reasons. They could take anything like Pumpkin Patch does but then they wouldn't be so great! They carry known brands, not stuff like Carter's that's everywhere. I bought a Vera Bradley onesie for $7 which I later saw at a boutique in a gift pack with a hat for $50+! Also picked up a super cute Mud Pie dress for $12! Their prices are really good and worth what you're buying. I highly recommend shopping here over other children's resale shops. Will definitely frequent this place! read more

Walked in here for the first time today looking for shorts for my 7 year old (After we told her no to some $50 Roxy short shorts at another store ;) Don't get me wrong I LOVE Roxy, these were just not cool for a 7 yr old). Found 3 pair--all fit--daughter is so cute, happy, stylish and classy. Will definitely walk back in here from time to time and grab a few more needed items. I was there maybe 22 minutes. Yay SparkleKids! Upscale Resale, low-key prices! Really, there are enough of these resale shops in town, but they just aren't discerning. It takes someone with an eye for the Major McCute to weed through all the clutter of kid duds, and madam Lauren has her finger firmly planted on the pulse of this trend. I don't wanna buy new crap. I don't wanna buy old worn-out crap. I wanna buy things that make the cut past a really picky designer (that's me) and be able to afford it... on a lowly designer's income! Really, I am just amazed that the children's clothing industry is so lackadaisical about their styling. Like, was there a collective decision to just give up putting good-looking things on our kids? I totally did not get that memo! I have a girl and a boy, and finding things for either of them is kind of a challenge especially for the boy. Like, oh, you're a boy, so you can just wear monkeys and trucks and dinosaurs because that is your whole personality from now until eternity. Oh, and you, little girl! Put on this pink crap with tutus and lace because your entire identity hinges on being able to look pretty and sweet! Oh. Did you feel that? It was the earth quivering in the wake of my enormous eye roll! Anyways. SparkleKids took a lot of my used goods at a really reasonable rate, and sold me some super stellar wardrobe-boosters for both my tots. I wasn't that impressed with my first visit here. I wanted to find a kids' light jacket, but they didn't have anything in the right size. I browsed all of their boys clothing, and I wasn't that impressed with their selection or pricing. $7 for a well used Baby Gap t-shirt is not a good deal. Some of their items were nice and they had some premium brands, but nothing really knocked my socks off. The service was indifferent too; no one asked to help me find what I was looking for. My favorite resale store by far (& I've been to MANY) in the area. Soooooo happy to have found it. I admit I'm a thrifty momma with expensive taste in kids clothes and I buy way too much clothes for my girls. I've sold several outfits here and hardly ever leave empty handed. Really fair pricing for the quality. Great selection that is updated pretty regularly--I've been slowly building a gender neutral wardrobe for a 6&under month old and find new cute things every time I stop by. So far I've spent less than what it would have cost to rent a baby bundle--the other eco friendly/cost conscious option I was considering for baby. Hoping some of the pieces remain in good enough shape to resell making it even more of a cost effective option. Her request came the day before the party, and I was not about to spend all day going from mall to mall looking for styles and sizes that work. So I tried SparkleKids. I called ahead of time asking what they had available that fit the bill. Lauren offered to pull items from the rack, so I could walk in and shop quickly. I picked up a Burberry shirt-dress with hearts for under $20. I was in and out of the shop in a matter of minutes. SparkleKids made me feel like a VIP shopper. This is my second visit. The first left such a good impression that when visiting on vacation I had to make it a stop. I was very disappointed. The sales clerk was indifferent and rude. I asked several questions and she sighed, didn't smile and acted bothered that I interrupted her. I like the cleanliness and organization. The prices are high for a consignment so don't expect to find a "deal" but the clothes are quality and prices reflect it. There were several matilda jane items that had tags but were obviously worn and washed. They were still $35. That seems a little dishonest but may not necessarily be the stores fault.
