We absolutely love Spanish in Action! We started attending the Mommy & Me classes when my daughter was younger, and she had such a wonderful experience that we recently moved up to the 4-year-old level. Maria, the owner, is fantastic and has created a warm, welcoming environment for children and families. The teachers, Luis and Alba, are amazing. They have a special gift for teaching young children and keeping them engaged while making learning Spanish fun and interactive. My daughter always looks forward to class. I highly recommend Spanish in Action to any family looking for a fun and effective way to introduce their children to Spanish! read more

If you are looking for a great interactive experience for your child whatever age, I highly recommend Spanish in Action. For myself, my young teens were not getting the fully rounded Spanish instruction at their middle school and Spanish in Action provided us with a teacher resident in Argentina (via zoom). The once per week class was conducted entirely in Spanish, very immersive and very much supplementing what was missing in traditional Spanish instruction in public schools. They have many in person classes also. They are very responsive and provide very good instruction and feedback. This is the missing link you have been looking for in your child's Spanish journey I believe. It was for us. Thank you Natalia. read more

I highly recommend Spanish in Action. I love the way the teacher Mrs. Maria teaches and structures the curriculum she makes it fun and enjoyable for kids. The kids are not only learning how to speak Spanish but also how to read and write. One of the most impressive things about her classes is how she is able to capture kids attention and interest and keep them engaged throughout the entire class. I have two kids in her classes and they both are interested in continuing to learn Spanish thanks to her. She's an amazing teacher! read more

I can't recommend Spanish in Action enough. I participated in the mommy and me with my 2.5 year old. The class is incredibly engaging and fun for both parent and child. Each week includes the right balance of consistency and new activities. The instructor, señor Luis, is wonderful and so great with the kids. My kiddo has started speaking more Spanish with me and even requests books in Spanish now. Highly recommend! read more

Been bringing my child here for years. First mommy and me and then in class and now one on one. We could no longer make it to the school so we switched to virtual. She loves Natalia and is learning Spanish fluently. It's awesome to see and hear. Highly recommend. read more

I take two Spanish classes for adults over Zoom. One is a private and the other is semi private conversation. My two teachers are completely fabulous. I could not have a better experience. They are caring, professional, and the lessons are completely personalized. They go the extra mile. Dealing with the office staff has been a pleasure as well. Anyone who is serious about learning Spanish should sign up. read more

Maestra Maria is amazing!!! My daughter took her Spanish in Action summer camp and she said it was her favorite camp she attended! M. Maria made learning Spanish fun for the kids, incorporating lots of pretend play and games to keep the class engaged. I'll definitely be sending my daughter for more camps next summer! read more

I sent my 4 year old for a summer camp and couldn't be happier. First of all, the place has such a nice decor, it's clean, colorful, and just joyful! So, just when you enter the room, you feel happier already! In addition, Maestra Maria is a true educator. She is high energy, attentive, engaging, has great boundaries and clear expectations. She is truly a gifted teacher and a true professional. She is kind and yet disciplined. I couldn't believe that ten 4 year olds would sit still and listen to her but they did, because she knows exactly what to do to capture their attention. She created a learning environment that is so joyful and so engaging that my kid literally was running to the class in the morning. We are so happy with the summer class that we want to do it throughout the year. If you want your kids to speak spanish, this is the place to be! I highly recommend it!!! read more

I've heard about Señora Maria and Spanish in Action for years and finally enrolled my 4YO in her program. After the first class, my child cried on the way home because she wanted class to last longer. She also asked that she have it every day. Over the last few months my child has learned many Spanish words. Marias approach is both fun and effective. After each class, we review the curriculum together so that we can practice it together. My child absolutely loves going to Spanish class - she even asked to go on a vacation to Argentina where Maria is originally from. We're excited to continue with Spanish in Action! read more

As a bilingual family - we were hesitant in enrolling our 5 year old. I wondered if a 1-hour a week class would make any difference as I was already trying to speak Spanish at home and she was getting some Spanish classes at school! And still she was refusing to speak Spanish - could understand proficiently but unwilling to practice. This was quickly becoming a point of contention and I was sure about 2 things - I wasn't ready to abandon the dream of her being bilingual AND I didn't want to sacrifice our relationship to get there. I decided to register for the year long class and am so glad I did. After the first 2-3 classes, she was excited to practice at home, teaching her little brother words and phrases, she was singing the songs from the class and consistently responding to me in Spanish. I was AMAZED! Gracias Maestra Maria - for infusing the love of the language, teaching it in a way that is fun and engaging and helping me preserve my relationship with my kid while also supporting our family's goal of being bilingual!! It is clear why Spanish in Action has been a local favorite for a long time - they are brilliant and know what they are doing!!! read more

I highly recommend this Spanish class. Ms.Maria is a great teacher, kind and patient with the kids. My nieces have been coming here for 3 years. They are excited to go to class and they learn so much each time! The classroom is so cute, colorful and clean! We really love this Spanish immersion program! :) read more

María has been awesome. I reached out with some doubts I had regarding placement and she was so helpful. That same week, I was able to schedule an appointment for an assessment and my boys loved her classroom setup. They were engaged with the different activities she used to gauge their language abilities. She was even gracious enough to show me how I could support them at home to read en español. I definitely learned a thing or two from her and know my boys will gain a lot this summer during camp week. ¡Gracias María! read more

We absolutely LOVE Spanish in Action and highly recommend checking it out if you have young children. I was fortunate to take the Mommy and Me class with my son and my daughter just completed a year of Spanish for beginners. I couldn't believe how much she had learned in just one year! The classroom is beautifully decorated with a lot of color and is always VERY clean. Maria puts her heart and soul into her classes as she dedicates so much for these children. read more

Senora Maria and Spanish in Action is stellar! My first child started with the Baby & Me classes a couple years ago and has continued and now is in a higher level commensurate to her age/language abilities. We've seen so much growth in her confidence to speak. The structure & organization of the classes give each lesson a purpose. Simultaneously, the classes are personable and enjoyable so that children have a lived experience with the language. In my own journey to learn Spanish there has been a difference between consuming a language (ie, listening, watching, etc) versus synthesizing it (ie Speaking). The Spanish in Action classes foster both important elements for true language growth at the onset for children. My 2nd child is 2.5 and is in the Baby & Me classes. are ideal for their young minds: there are simple things introduced in a very fun, tactile and interactive way to engage all different types of learners. For me what is most important for a young child is to have a positive experience with Spanish and foster the desire for more- Spanish in Action classes do this! Side note, the space is very beautiful and, since it draws parents who desire to raise bilingual kids, i've even made some friends there. Background: both my husband & myself learned Spanish as a 2nd language as young adults and wanted to introduce our kids to it at an earlier age, so this has been totally worth it. read more

For about 4 months my wife and I had been looking for a supplemental language study program catered to kids that could help teach my 5 year old the basics of Spanish. My mother spoke Spanish but never taught me and for years I've tried to teach myself with little progress and frustration. For my son I wanted to ensure he was educated on the basics and Spanish and comfortable with hearing it from a young age. During the pandemic we were limited with in class teaching but found Spanish in action through online searching. Not liking the group zoom aspect they found my son a personal tutor through Zoom and my son has been attending twice a week for 5 months now and loving Senora Flor. The curriculum is perfect for kids and the 30 minutes is excellent for a 5 year olds attention span. It's been a slow progress for my son learning a new language but he loves the silliness and teaching of Senora Flor. My only downside is for individual families it can be a bit pricey but they have other group options for your child and acquaintances to manage a different budget. read more

Señora Maria is wonderful! I'm so grateful to have found Spanish in Action. I started attending mommy and me classes when my son was 3. Even though my husband and I both speak Spanish, he doesn't always want to speak it at home. Spanish in Action has helped with his confidence and has kept him interested in learning and understanding more Spanish along with the Latin American culture. Highly recommend to any parent that's looking for a fun and interactive Spanish immersive experience! read more

My 4yo son and I had a great experience at Spanish in Action! Mrs Maria was wonderful--strict in a good way, but also warm and welcoming and easy to talk to. She captivated the kids' attention and they start speaking Spanish immediately. The classroom was bright and sunny, bathroom clean, and the decor colorful and thoughtfully designed to educate about the many, many cultures that speak Spanish. My only complaint is that the class is only one hour long, once per week-- I definitely would have signed up for a longer, multi day after school program. read more

My 5-year old son loves his Spanish class with Señora Maria. He fights me at home with Spanish, but at Spanish in Action everything is so fun and natural he doesn't feel forced. Maria has spectacular program filed with music and rhymes that makes Spanish stick. I've had my son do Spanish elsewhere and teachers are just not as cómmitted as she is. She knows what she's doing and is truly a professional. read more

My boys who are in 2nd grade and kindergarten now have been taking Spanish in Action online classes for a year and a half. I was hesitant with signing them up for an online class because my boys are so wiggly, but they both learned a lot and enjoyed their classes. Natalia made class time engaging for my younger one who started when he was 4 years old. She was encouraging and made learning fun. Ximena worked with my 7 year old and has him speaking in short phrases now. We really enjoyed our classes! read more

Maria is an amazing teacher! The girls come home singing Spanish songs and they are learning so much even if they don't seem to speak all the time. one of them heard a Spanish word and said what it meant in English and I asked how she knew, and her response "Ms Maria teaches us a lot of things mom. She even told us we would recognize words every day and be surprised that we know what it is saying." I am so happy we have such a great person teaching them! read more

I signed my seven year-old up for the beginning summer camp class. He showed an interest in Spanish when he was in preschool and I was curious if he would still engage with the language. He had a great time in the class. In fact, he asked if he could stay longer. I highly recommend Spanish in Action. read more

I was looking for a place for my 5 and 6 year old to learn Spanish. And my concern was the teaching method wouldn't engage them and keep them engaged to learn and retain the language. A very good friend recommended Spanish in Action to me as I was looking for him to start speaking more. My son understands most spanish, as I am from Argentina and I speak spanish at home with him, but he is not very fluent. We started semi-private classes and he came back from his first class so excited and ready for more that I could not believe it. I am not sure exactly how the magic happens... I can't wait for him to continue working with Senora Maria regularly. read more

My son and I love this weekly class so much. He is so excited to get into the classroom and absorb everything. There are two teachers Maria and Lucia and they both do an amazing job of keeping the class entertaining and interesting for the kids. It is a very high quality class. I have been to lots of mommy and me type classes throughout South Bay and although none have been bad, this class really sticks out as special & fun because of how well the class is coordinated each week. You can tell the teachers really plan out the class and give a lot of thought to everything they do with the kids. It also is a very clean and happy space. read more

We have taken year-round Spanish and done many summer camps with Miss Maria for several years now. She is so warm, responsive, caring and most importantly GREAT with kids. I started my older two a bit later but she worked hard to watch their progress and suggest ways to help them advance. My little one started quite early and has become a pretty decent speaker as a result of her time with Spanish in Action. She always sang her songs and practiced her new words...it's a great environment! read more
