I can't recommend Spanish in Action enough. I participated in the mommy and me with my 2.5 year old. The class is incredibly engaging and fun for both parent and child. Each week includes the right balance of consistency and new activities. The instructor, señor Luis, is wonderful and so great with the kids. I take two Spanish classes for adults over Zoom. One is a private and the other is semi private conversation. My two teachers are completely fabulous. I could not have a better experience. They are caring, professional, and the lessons are completely personalized. They go the extra mile. Dealing with the office staff has been a pleasure as well. I sent my 4 year old for a summer camp and couldn't be happier. First of all, the place has such a nice decor, it's clean, colorful, and just joyful! So, just when you enter the room, you feel happier already! In addition, Maestra Maria is a true educator. She is high energy, attentive, engaging, has great boundaries and clear expectations. She is truly a gifted teacher and a true professional. She is kind and yet disciplined. I've heard about Señora Maria and Spanish in Action for years and finally enrolled my 4YO in her program. After the first class, my child cried on the way home because she wanted class to last longer. She also asked that she have it every day. Over the last few months my child has learned many Spanish words. Marias approach is both fun and effective. After each class, we review the curriculum together so that we can practice it together. As a bilingual family - we were hesitant in enrolling our 5 year old. I wondered if a 1-hour a week class would make any difference as I was already trying to speak Spanish at home and she was getting some Spanish classes at school! And still she was refusing to speak Spanish - could understand proficiently but unwilling to practice. This was quickly becoming a point of contention and I was sure about 2 things - I wasn't ready to abandon the dream of her being bilingual AND I didn't want to sacrifice our relationship to get there. I decided to register for the year long class and am so glad I did. After the first 2-3 classes, she was excited to practice at home, teaching her little brother words and phrases, she was singing the songs from the class and consistently responding to me in Spanish. I was AMAZED! Senora Maria and Spanish in Action is stellar! My first child started with the Baby & Me classes a couple years ago and has continued and now is in a higher level commensurate to her age/language abilities. We've seen so much growth in her confidence to speak. The structure & organization of the classes give each lesson a purpose. Simultaneously, the classes are personable and enjoyable so that children have a lived experience with the language. In my own journey to learn Spanish there has been a difference between consuming a language (ie, listening, watching, etc) versus synthesizing it (ie Speaking). The Spanish in Action classes foster both important elements for true language growth at the onset for children. My 2nd child is 2.5 and is in the Baby & Me classes. are ideal for their young minds: there are simple things introduced in a very fun, tactile and interactive way to engage all different types of learners. For me what is most important for a young child is to have a positive experience with Spanish and foster the desire for more- Spanish in Action classes do this! Side note, the space is very beautiful and, since it draws parents who desire to raise bilingual kids, i've even made some friends there. For about 4 months my wife and I had been looking for a supplemental language study program catered to kids that could help teach my 5 year old the basics of Spanish. My mother spoke Spanish but never taught me and for years I've tried to teach myself with little progress and frustration. For my son I wanted to ensure he was educated on the basics and Spanish and comfortable with hearing it from a young age. During the pandemic we were limited with in class teaching but found Spanish in action through online searching. Not liking the group zoom aspect they found my son a personal tutor through Zoom and my son has been attending twice a week for 5 months now and loving Senora Flor. The curriculum is perfect for kids and the 30 minutes is excellent for a 5 year olds attention span. It's been a slow progress for my son learning a new language but he loves the silliness and teaching of Senora Flor. My only downside is for individual families it can be a bit pricey but they have other group options for your child and acquaintances to manage a different budget. read more

My 4yo son and I had a great experience at Spanish in Action! Mrs Maria was wonderful--strict in a good way, but also warm and welcoming and easy to talk to. She captivated the kids' attention and they start speaking Spanish immediately. The classroom was bright and sunny, bathroom clean, and the decor colorful and thoughtfully designed to educate about the many, many cultures that speak Spanish. My only complaint is that the class is only one hour long, once per week-- I definitely would have signed up for a longer, multi day after school program. read more

My son and I love this weekly class so much. He is so excited to get into the classroom and absorb everything. There are two teachers Maria and Lucia and they both do an amazing job of keeping the class entertaining and interesting for the kids. It is a very high quality class. I have been to lots of mommy and me type classes throughout South Bay and although none have been bad, this class really sticks out as special & fun because of how well the class is coordinated each week. Spanish in Action has a great Mommy and Me class that my toddler and I have been attending. He loves going and talks about it all week. He's been learning colors, shapes, songs, vocabulary words, he plays with instruments during class, play-doh and there is also story time. They provide him with different colored shapes to take home each week so he can practice at home. Maria and Lucia are very friendly and are both great teachers.
