Sonia and Jorge were absolutely wonderful. They were empathetic, understanding, and went out of their way to make the experience as smooth and supportive as possible. Their flexibility with timing and genuine care truly made a difference for our family during a sensitive time. We're grateful for their kindness and professionalism. P.S The bathrooms were very clean and fully stocked, which added to the overall comfort and ease of our visit.

Thanks to them we were able to obtain a Catholic mass & funeral services in our back yard. Our concern was also to get our mom's cremation/Urn within a two week time frame. Chavez Funeral &Cremation delivered reliability, assertiveness & expedited our request. A reputable foundation nonetheless. Under the circumstances where the last thing you need is more task to tackle, Chavez Funeral& cremations took a huge weight of our hands. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Especially to Sonia. Excellent, well done. Cons: Some reviews say that This organization doesn't get back in time. I totally can understand the frustration(under the circumstances) however a simple call and text to, friendly remind Sonia or her staff will solve that miscommunication. Any organization can get backed up or busy but I can assure you it's an easy fix. Atleast it worked for me. Best.

Could not have had a worse experience, which I should have anticipated considering when my father…read morepassed 3 years ago and they tried to convince my sister and I that our father was over 6'5" and would need an oversized coffin which was substantially more expensive than a standard coffin as well as overheard two employees complaining how slow my extremely old grandma (with a cane) was walking down the aisle during the service and how it would never end. Below is the SHORT version: Angelus was called to pick my grandma up after she passed from her home (less than 1 mile away) and charged $600 which I felt was beyond ridiculous. The burial was being paid with a life insurance policy and as beneficiaries (sister and I) of said policy we were sent a document to be signed that needed to be notarized so insurance could pay Angelus directly. The document had items listed in it regarding her estate that we had no knowledge of (we were not trustees) so we let Angelus know they would need those removed before we signed a legally binding document; otherwise, we would have to have insurance pay us directly and then pay them. The items could not (or would not) be removed so we let them know how long it would take to get the money from insurance. Angelus proceeded to be in contact with other family members to pressure us to sign the document. I would have been happy to pay out of pocket but I don't have 10k laying around so we needed that insurance money (which was 10k). After the attempt at manipulation I was very suspicious and went over the burial contract again where I realized there was a general charge of $5,000 for "cemetery charges". My sister called asking what "cemetery charges" were and she was told it was for digging up the grave/burying my grandma; it was so high because she'd be buried with her mom and they would need to dig my great grandma up, dig deeper so they had enough room for 2 coffins, and then bury them both. I was thankfully able to find the plot number of the grave my grandma had purchased decades ago THROUGH Angelus and, lo and behold, when confronted with that plot number, her actual grave was miraculously found and "cemetery charges" dropped by almost half. They tried to say that the purchase was so old and hadn't been imputed into the new computer system but are you really expecting me to excuse that people purchase plots decades in advance and you're not going to keep your records up to date? That's literally your job. You sell people plots and then not keep track of it? Angelus at one point threatened my sister that we'd start being charged a daily fee for housing my grandma if we didn't choose a burial date (which my sister had already done). When my sister confronted our contact on this and told them if that's how it would be then they could redo the contract for the cheapest immediate burial, their tones changed. I find it funny that they tried to make it seem like we didn't care because she was there for 5 weeks yet they hadn't said a word when my dad had been there just shy of that long (he died a few weeks before Thanksgiving and a lot of out of state family asked us to wait to have the funeral until after Thanksgiving so flights weren't so expensive). Everything was finally settles and the DAY we were paid by insurance, they were paid. This place is an absolute scam and I wish I could write the novel that's deserved to be written about all the other things we went through between my dads and grandmas death. Had her plot not already been purchased, I never would have chosen them.

After the pickup we were told that a representative would reach out to us the following day so we could start making arrangements. They didn't call till 3 days later even after leaving them multiple messages! Imagine not knowing what's happening to your loved one or where they are located after they died. Our assigned rep only called AFTER I switched to Anubis Cremations and had arrangements for the body to be brought to their facilities. Wesleigh was so easy to work with. She picked up my call right away and took care of everything. She communicated every step of the way. I told her that my uncle who is a priest will be arriving in 2 weeks and we would like for the cremation and memorial service to happen while he was here. She mentioned that it's a very tight schedule but she would try to make it happen. And she 100% delivered!!! Within an hour of my initial call she had my auntie's body arranged for pickup, she sent paperwork to us and the doctor so she could start the process of filing the death certificate. The church where we wanted the memorial service wouldn't let us reserve a time till they had a cremation date. We were able to get the cremation date within a few days. We opted for a private open viewing at the crematory in Van Nuys. The crematory only does night time viewing which worked well for us since our family is busy working during the day. Wesleigh's coworker Jonathan took great care of us at the viewing. The place had a room for up to 15 people where family members could sit with the casket prior to the cremation. They dressed our auntie in her formal barong and jewelry. We were allowed to provide flowers, letters, and mementoes in the cardboard casket. Jonathan gave us sharpies so we could write notes on the casket. There were aslo tissues and an easel for our use. Although the viewing was technically 15 minutes, we were not rushed and were given about 20-25 minutes to do a prayer service and say our goodbyes. And then Jonathan and another employee wheeled her into the crematory. We watched them place her casket in the "oven" and once the door closed we left. They even allowed us to live stream the entire time we were there to our auntie's relatives back in the Philippines. The following day Wesleigh delivered the ashes to the church and she provided the letters and instructions we needed to bring the ashes back to the Philippines. We were also very happy with the urn we ordered from Anubis. It was engraved and had a photo of our auntie. It was perfect. I can't thank Wesleigh and Jonathan enough for providing an outstanding service that was stress-free, efficient, compassionate, and super professional during this difficult time of grief. I whole-heartedly recommend Annubis.
