He got a role model who demonstrates a great combination of physical strength, confidence, and kindness. Bruno is incredible with these kids. You would think it would be like herding cats teaching the gentle art to sometimes up to 30 plus 4 to 7 year olds but he is a master at keeping them interested and engaged. It was his impressive charisma that made me decide to try Jiu Jitsu myself in his fundamentals class. His ability to teach adults is just as impressive. In the beginning of this journey I felt very uncomfortable and even thought it might not be for me. But I enjoyed Bruno's teaching style and warmth and charisma so much I hung in there and I am sticking with it and enjoying it more than ever. I feel like it has made me better. Of course Bruno is an accomplished black belt for the more advanced practitioners out there too! Training Jiu Jitsu has made our lives better. I can't imagine starting this journey with any other teacher other than Bruno and I feel blessed to know him.

Sensei Des is a dedicated practitioner and a gifted teacher. His enthusiasm for the martial arts is highly motivating and his interest in sharing this with others is genuine. That passion seems to rub off on most of the members too. Everyone is motivated to excel, and supportive of one another. It really is a great environment to learn about martial arts, about yourself, and stay fit and healthy. Unlike a lot of martial arts dojos, this one is not about money or contracts. It's not about mixed martial arts or the latest crazes. It's traditional Okinawan style karate, pure and simple, taught in a non-intimidating but highly effective way by people who understand the true essence of martial arts. BTW, If fitness is your primary goal and you want to push yourself, a session in this dojo can make CrossFit seem like a walk in the park!

Sensei's Dan and Susan work with groups and individuals during sessions and make it fun for the junior classes. The classes focus on a lot of stuff and rotate back to self-defense which everyone could use! Many people attend this club and seem to be loyal and dedicated. They are helpful with anyone who is new if you are serious about whatever you are signing up for. The owners are hardworking and dedicated. It's a family owned and operated business. They have great achievements under their belts. Music played here is PG-13, not good for the little ears. (Unless that's what they hear at home) Children are not allowed to hangout during your workout session unsupervised. They have limited seating for those who are waiting on someone. They lack parking spaces. I can't wait until they have a building on their own with better parking.

The mediation request was NOT due to personal issues- but the lack of one caused inappropriate interaction to be witnessed. This occurred even after I specifically asked for her to stay because consistency is especially important to children with her type disability. They told everyone that we chose to leave, which we did not. We had been there for FOUR years. I took the time to write this review because my special needs daughter was affected and I don't want that to happen to anyone else.

I also switched over to the Gerber Soy formula they provided, so that was another less expense to add to the list. The only drawback (As with any daycare) was that he did get sick three times in one month (Roseola, severe bronchitis and 24 hour bug) and since he was only 6-7 months old that was a very rough time, but they were always willing to work with me. We had a horrible experience with this club. We had heard mixed reviews from the community and knew…read morethat some girls would sit on the bench especially if the coach wanted to play his/her own players from their affiliated high school over higher skilled players. And that is exactly what happened. Our daughter's skill didn't improve but if a player played high school vb for the coach then they got to play every game and didn't rotate off the court. When we spoke to the owner about play time, the owner had every excuse for why girls sit on the bench. She needs to acknowledge that her coaches are biased towards their own high school players and that is the information that is coming down the pipe and passed to other parents considering this club. But do what you gotta do. Just don't expect $$$$ for our kids to sit on the bench. FYI: Many of the players don't return the next season. The best athletes in our county go to an Orlando club because they know that this club gets them no where. Go watch recent youtube videos. The older elite teams look like high school JV teams. The coaches scream at the players during the games. I saw our coach stomp their feet in a tantrum and scream at one girl until the girl quit trying. That's pretty abusive. The players on my daughter's team said they were disappointed in and embarrassed for our coach. Only half the team returned the next year. Bottom Line: I can't say we had one positive experience with our coach, team, and the club owner. It was a total waste of our money and time. Buyer beware!

1/5 Stars - Highly Disappointing Experience…read more My experience with Vera Children's Academy was deeply disappointing for both me and my child. For anyone considering this facility, please know that despite the name, it is a regular daycare disguised as a learning academy but in reality there is no learning going on just a regular unprofessional daycare The financial burden here is outrageous, especially given the poor quality of care. A recurring issue we faced was their illness policy and unfair billing. I would send my daughter to daycare on a Wednesday, she would catch something from another child, and by Thursday, they would call me to come pick her up because she was sick. She would then have to miss the following day. Despite not being allowed to leave my child there, they still charged me full price for her attendance. This happened on multiple occasions, to the point where I was paying for far more days than my daughter was actually able to attend. Even more concerning than the cost was the lack of supervision and safety. There was an incident where my child came home with claw marks all over her arms. When I brought this to the teacher's attention, nobody on staff was aware of her injuries, nor had anyone called to let us know something had happened. A week later, she came home with the exact same injuries to her arms. It wasn't until I made a major issue out of it that I was finally able to request to speak to the director, who promised an investigation. Having two separate instances where my child came home injured without a single phone call or incident report made is completely unacceptable. I was finally so fed up with the lack of communication, safety, and fairness that I unenrolled my kid. I would not recommend Vera Children's Academy to any parent looking for a safe and reliable environment for their child.
