Ask for Vivi! Her skill is exceptional. Cured my shoulder and back pain. The service was great and the environment was peaceful.

A different technician than Sophie was at the appointment, and she kept pausing the treatment to answer the door. The massage itself was underwhelming and I was troubled by the smell in the room- somewhat medicinal and also stale air. I immediately took a shower upon returning home. read more

Been having some shoulder and lower back discomfort and saw this was close to my office and I was so happy I found it , from the time I walked I was comfortable and greeted with a big smile from Sophie , the stretches and exercises she taught to do daily have been wonderful ! Can be easy to miss, a hidden gem. The best massages I have ever had, technique is unique and very healing.

The friendly woman in the window, smiling and encouraging me to try something, that gave her confidence, that if I gave it a shot, that I would not be disappointed! Well after one full hour,of massaging, deep tissue, and shiatsu massaging, I realized, this was what I'd had been in need of that day. This was a pleasant surprise, the friendly lady in the window, the massuse, and the kindly gentleman that took my payment afterwards ,convinced me. That this is the place to go,for resetting, refreshing, and a great massage experience. Aesthetics are not that important to me,even though the small location is quaint and out the way. My massage experience, far outweighed, the aesthetics, and the ambiance of the small room, helped with making a great trip to the massage parlor, especially this being my first visit to any massage parlors. I will be back again, and again! Great experiance! read more

I need to start by saying that this place gives great massages and, yes, I will be coming back. That being said, I initially had trouble finding it. The map on Yelp showed it next to Ben and Jerry's, but in fact it is under in the basement. Once I was inside I noticed that the spa is small and the ceilings are low, but it is overall a nice shop. I am used to Tui Na massage places with curtains for doors and sometimes even "walls." This place has true walls and sliding pocket doors. I was impressed. My therapist was great and her English was alright. I tend to be very quiet during a massage, but she wanted to talk (called it a chance to practice her English). She was very hands on with deep pressure and stretches. At times it felt more like a chiropractor's adjustment than a massage. A few things that didn't really concern me, but others might struggle with: she did pull my shorts/underwear down a bit without asking, but it made sense with what she was trying to do (hot stone treatment). She also got very close during inner thigh massages. Neither incident was concerning to me, but unexpected. read more

Solid spot. Have been here a couple of times. No frills massage place. Super friendly staff and for $50 / hour, you really can't go wrong. For that price, you get what you pay for. No luxurious amenities, but definitely a good massage. I got a deep tissue massage there last time, which they did not upcharge me for, which is always an annoyance in my opinion. Try and have cash though because they charge a 8% service fee on credit card transactions. read more

Just what I needed after a red-eye flight from the west coast. The spa is no frills but the bodywork is excellent. One of the best massages I've had. Definitely intense, firm pressure and stretching, but the masseuse identified some long standing issues that I've been going to a physical therapist with her first first glance. I wish I'd seen her 3 years ago. The doctor didn't see it. I'd be here on a regular basis if I lived in town. I'm feeling pretty good now. read more

This place is where you go if you don't care about the spa experience. If you strictly want a massage for sore muscles then Spa Casual delivers. I went in becasue my back and neck are super tight and sore and I've gotten a massage just a week or so ago from hand and stone but was still feeling tight/sore. Spa casual - they are not messing around. 60 minutes for 50 dollars. You cannot beat that anywhere. They do not cut the massage short - you are getting that full hour. In addition you are getting a massage that is sure to loosen you up. The girl I had got up on the table to get my back perfectly and also used hot stones. They also pulled my arm in different ways to make sure to get the back in certain positions. I really liked this. I walked out feeling great. The service was great. They were really kind and sweet to me. Yes, it's located in the basement of another business on sansom, and you can hear some banging around from the upstairs, but they still have some spa music on and it didn't bother me since I was most focused on my back. They do accept credit cards, but they charge 8% surcharge for accepting which was explained at point of payment. I had to minus a star since the merchant credit card rules put a cap of 4% on cc surcharges. read more

I just stopped by this lovely place today to see what their pricing was. I didn't plan on staying for an hour long AWESOME massage. But their prices are so good I decided to give it a shot. The massage lasted a full hour. The woman who gave me the massage was very skilled and it felt SO GOOD. I'm still reeling. It was as good as any other incredibly pricey spa. Actually, it was better. It was the best spa massage I've ever gotten. Nice people, nice place, lots of services, great prices. I'll definitely be going back. read more

First off- if you are looking for a soothing and elegant spa experience stop reading. This places is located in the basement of a building on Sansom. It is very small and is run by a Chinese family. BUT- if you want a great massage for half the price of those in the surrounding area then you will love it here. I wanted a massage and nothing else. Sure there are many things that could be better but the massage itself was amazing. 1 hour for $50. There is only one room which was seperated by a curtain so you could hear everything on the other side...which could get annoying especially when the other client clearly did not care to whisper. Besides that- the massage was amazing. THe ambiance of the place made me feel like i was back in Thailand. There are no frills here just straight up massage. I also decided to try the facial when i asked the price and was told $35. I could swear she said $35 but when i came to pay it went up to $55. Ok. To be expected. But the price list that she gave me after said $55 so maybe I heard wrong. The facial was also great. She knew what she was doing. Again- don't go here if you want the 'experience' go here i you want something cheaper than others in the area and if you don't mind sharing a room. read more

I love massages. Either from fancy spa or humble Chinese massage place. Sometimes I feel like spend extra $$$$ and get pampered, sometimes I do craving really awesome Chinese massage. They both give me different satisfaction. I go to see Helen whenever I have sore muscle especially my shoulder. Helen works like magician than anyone else. Non of fancy spa massage therapist can work on my shoulder like Helen does since I prefer strong massages. She speaks English very well so easy to communicate with her unlike other Chinese massage place. She is kind and understand body very well. I go to see her regularly and very satisfied. read more

This is a great no-frills chinese qui gong tui-na acupressure massage place--50$ an hour. Helen speaks excellent english, but not all the masseuses do. But everyone was super nice, and they accommodated me when I walked in at 6pm without calling to make an appointment. Simple, clean room. Strong pressure, she even found the little tough knots in my neck that usually get skipped at other massage places. Helen checked in with me throughout, to make sure the pressure was ok, and overall it was a really therapeutic and intuitive massage. read more

I was recommended to this place by my hairstylist. I was in need of a massage so bad after a long exhausting week at work so I decided to check this place out with my sister and a friend. I had Sophia and she was so good and hit all the pressure points. She checked on me periodically to see if she was doing it too hard or light which I appreciate. She's so cute and sweet. I will be coming back here again. The only thing is I wished each room had music or something that way it's not as quiet. Btw, if you're looking for a real good massage for a good price, then come here but if you're looking for a nice fancy place, this is not the place. Overall, I had a good experience. read more

Really good massage and the price was decent. The owner was super friendly and worked on my body really good. Will definitely come back.

The is a place for no-frill massage. It's located very conveniently and the owner Helen is always nice and patiently listen to your needs. She helped me to make my lower back pain gone just after 4 sessions. read more

Neck and upper back was feeling achy for the last two days. Did some quick research on places near Rittenhouse Square - specifically a CHINESE, TRADITIONAL MASSAGE (vs. "frou-frou" Spa). I found it in this place. Greeted by a lady named Sukee who also did my massage. Told her that I had to get this during my lunch hour and she was very sensitive to that. It was a traditional, deep tissue massage that she really worked through the depths of my shoulder blade muscles. PROS - quick, effective massage that you can fit in during lunch hour :). CONS - very simple basic atmosphere in the basement of another business. Fine by me... as I was looking for EFFECTIVE massage not "Spa experience." In my opinion these traditional Chinese "hole in the wall" places are the "real deal" and truly fix one's issues through traditional Asian skill anyway (i.e. incorporation of pressure points, etc). Note: they start getting busy starting 3:00 pm and to the evening hours. Only gave four stars... not for bad service... but because the ambience was not fancy, else I would have given it five stars. read more

I've never walked out of a massage before but this place I had too. I asked for have a deep tissue massage and to get out the knots in my back and neck. The woman just kept on lightly rub up and down. I stopped her and said I'm in pain right now and need you to really go deep in the knots and get them released. She kept on telling me she was. To the point I told her to stop cause I'm wasting my money. She was nice enough that I didn't have to pay for the 15mins. read more

I received several nice massages and decided to try a facial. I had my eyebrows waxed and afterwards, as she was beginning the facial she stopped and applyed a little wax to my temple explaining that she was just "evening things out." She proceeded to wax part of my hairline! This was very upsetting and felt like a violation. In addition to this throughout the entire facial she made rude comments about my "thin skin", the "wrinkles under my eyes" etc. I left feeling anxious and miserable on what was supposed to be a relaxing day-off from taking care of my toddler. read more
