WARNING! Do not book with this spa. The prices are not worth what is being offered and they bait and switch with pricing. My wife and I scheduled an appointment for a couple's massage. We had a voucher for a discount price and booked the date/time. On the date of the appointment, we arrived on time and they had given our appointment to another couple. The staff said they could do nothing despite having another Spa 505 located 3 blocks away on the same street. My wife and I showed up at the other Spa 505 and met with Anna who is the same person that had originally booked us over the phone. I asked if they had a couple's massage available to which she said it was available. I then advised her of the situation and the discount voucher she had previously advised me to bring. She explained that the voucher would not be honored and we had to pay the full price which was $40 additional. Very dishonest. read more

Came here with my cousin for a relaxing girls day . I received a great massage . It was so relaxing and she was very nice , at first the woman in the front started massaging me , that also was great ! I really enjoyed the service , I gave a $20 tip for my hour massage . My only complaint was it was so noisy. I really couldn't relax as much as I would have liked , and I wish the products used were a little more skin friendly instead of just baby oil, my skin is already breaking out. Last weekend this Asian woman who is the owner came over to the new Spa 505 location in the Marshall's shopping center with 3 additional masseuses for my friends & I & went up on the price from the Groupon special & only gave one massage, not 2 like I had last time! I bought a groupon for a massage here and just got home. Upon walking it, this place reminds me of the small spas in the city: little rooms, curtains for doors. The massage was easily in the top 3 I've ever had. Anna was incredibly strong and literally rubbed every muscle in my body into mush. I paid for a 60 min full body (which doesnt include the feet) but was offered to upgrade to a 90 min with 30 minutes on the feet at the end. I was so relaxed, she could've upsold me to buy anything lol. The owner (i think) was there to greet me and make sure everything went well when I was done. Been going here for awhile - started from a Living Social/Groupon deal. Very basic place, but if all you are looking for is a massage, its good. I go for back pain, not so much a spa experience. I called and made an appointment with a specific massage therapist. I had only met her once before, so I assumed the therapist they gave me was her. I realized at some point, it wasn't. I then overheard a therapist in the next room say her name and she was the woman I had made my appointment with. :( During my massage, I asked my therapist her name and it was not who I asked for. There weren't two therapists with the same name. So you can make an appointment with someone specific, but no guarantee you will get who you ask for. Just not a good way to do business. :( read more

They told me that I needed the bar code from Groupon and as I explained it was a gift from my sister in law who was already in a room. Bought a groupon for three sessions and had to pay a $10 tax for the three, which I've never done before. That was the only downside. I've used two of the sessions before, and they were decent. My first massage was the best, but I forgot to get his name. It's not an elaborate space, but there has always been a few clients there when I went. They also have specials - they were listed on the board on the front desk. Bottom line is I'd go back as long as the price is right. read more

Went on a Friday afternoon after work for a 1 hour deep tissue massage. When I went to the front desk, I gave her my Groupon and was told that I had to pay for tax separate ($3). I thought this was odd, as I've never been charged tax for a spa service, unless other places add it into the price. I only had enough cash on me for the tip, so this resulted in my leaving less than I had planned. The room I was shown to was the first one on the left, just next to the reception area. It had a curtain for a door and the walls did not go all the way up to the ceiling. So as I was getting my massage, I could hear noise from outside the room and it distracted me from completely relaxing. I don't remember if there was music playing. As another reviewer mentioned, the massage was done for about 10-15 minutes over a towel. I've never had that done before at any other location. I don't know what the purpose for that was and I didn't care for it. And the face hole was very uncomfortable. Once we got past the towel massage, the rest of the massage was excellent. I have some terrible knots by my shoulder blades and the masseuse really worked to get them out. I was very sore for the next 2-3 days. The woman at the reception desk was very nice. And the masseuse (I think her name was Julie) was very good. Overall I think the massage was worth the Groupon price but I wouldn't pay the full price. There is nothing wrong with the massage my 2 friends and I received. But I have NEVER, EVER been told how much to tip!! There is a hand written sign above the cash register stating you must tip $10.00--in fact, my friend went to put $8 tip on card and was informed it had to be $10.00 by the owner!!! All the massagers were fantastic & it is a shame the owner demanded a $10.00 tip.....that is 40%...a little much.... No one should be told how much to tip...that is a personal decision----in fact, I would have tipped more but I do not like being told how much.....no one goes in restaurant and owners' demand you to tip the server 40%---would be nice..... just informing everyone....??? doubt I will return..............:( read more

I couldn't believe the experience I had here. I called after I found a deal on LIvingSocial. The deal was for a $60 deep tissue massage but there was a limited time additional 8 dollars off on the site. I called before purchasing to see if they could take me and my mother later that day and mentioned the deal. Anne said that I could pay the Livingsocial price at the location at the time of my appointment. My mother and I drove an hour to get there and when I got there the woman at the front desk had no idea what LIvingsocial deal I was talking about and so I showed her. She proceeds to call Anne at the other store location down the street who says the deal is for $60 even though I'm showing her the special offer. The woman tells me the prices are higher at this new location because of the grand opening and I have the option to go to the other location, to which Anne who is still on the phone says "no I don't want them here." So I agree to pay the $60 despite having the option to purchase the deal on my phone. After I agree to $60, she says "its $60 if I pay with cash." Which made absolutely no sense. So my mother and I decided to leave, at which point she says "you can pay with card if you show me that you have cash for gratuity." I could not believe it. I was also told I couldn't book the day of( which is not mentioned on the groupon). After i tipped I was told that I did not give the recommended tip( which is leo not posted). SHE stepped on my back after I told her it was hurting very badly, and it wasn't one of those weak massages it was decent. I noticed prices of Asian massages have gone up in terms last few years, so 60 isn't that bad. After reading previous reviews about this business I was apprehensive about redeeming a groupon gift for massages. I had no trouble making an appointment. When I arrived the young lady at the desk was very welcoming and helpful, they redeemed my groupon with no problems or extra fees requested. While not a fancy spa the facility was clean and restful. I am so disappointed right now. This is the first review I've ever left and that is because i feel it is necessary to expose this place. I booked a couples massage and wound up having to reschedule it. I could not get a person on the phone that could communicate with me. I have no problem with people whi speak a different language but if you are running a business you need to be able to understand your customers needs. I have run a dj business for 20 years so i understand the needs of a customer. I originally called and booked a couples massage for a saturday at 2:30pm. Due to my dj business, i had to reschedule. It took me 3 phone calls to reschedule. I rescheduled for the following Saturday at 11am. The original Saturday at 2:35pm i get a call that i missed my appointment. I explained to someone who barely spoke English that i did not miss my appointment and that i had rescheduled to the following Saturday at 11am. He told me that the front desk would call me back in an hour. 3 hours later i finally get a call back. They now tell me that 11am is not available. So i ask for 12pm. They say that is fine. The evening of the massage my girlfriend had a Bachelorette party to go to so that's why i wanted 11am. So, we arrive at 11:55. When we first walk in they tell me Groupon doesn't charge tax so i have to give then $7. That was fine. Then they ask for my phone number which is apparently how they keep track of appointments. Then they scan my groupon which redeems it. Then they take us in the back and stop to put my girlfriend in a single room. Not a couples room. So back to the front desk we go bc that is not what i wanted. The woman argues with me. A man who i believe was the owner had to push this woman out of the room to stop her from arguing with me. He then tells me that it was for 11am. I tell him they told me 11am was not available. He says the past is the past and the couples room is not available right now and nothing else today. I tell him i understand that but that's not what i paid for. At this point i just want my money back. I ask for my $7 back and then he tells me i have to call Groupon for my money back. Now i am waiting for a refund. So, i did not get my massage and desperately needed it. I feel they were unprofessional enough that i needed to write my first Yelp review. I wasn't told same day appointments wasn't an option when I made appointment but after driving all the way out there I was told I have to either pay her $45 for a massage today or come back the next day. I was already there and none of the workers had customers and she still refused to service me. Made an appointment for my bfs birthday. Spoke to Ann 2x on the phone because i had read all the previous reviews and I wanted to make sure that we would be taken on time, be in the same room, and the price to be paid by credit card wouldn't change upon arrival. Strike 1: we got there and the lady helping us SCREAMED the price out. This massage is a gift and i don't want the person on the receiving end to know how much I'm paying. Totally unprofessional. She didn't even ask "would you like to pay now" she just screamed it out and caught me totally off guard. Strike 2: I handed my credit card, as planned. The lady didn't know how to work it so Ann came out. Of course she waits until NOW to inform me that there's an extra charge for credit cards. She was very rude and had ZERO customer service skills. I decided that i didn't want to make this horrendous experience anymore awkward, so I reluctantly paid the extra money. Strike 3: The ambiance is just terrible. The place looks cheap and tacky and throughout the WHOLE massage you could hear people outside the room talking and a doorbell sound going on and off. As if i wasn't already stressed from my unpleasant encounter with Ann, these background noises were startling and made the experience all the less relaxing. I've been getting massages monthly for about 11 years now. I've spent the last 6 years at a variety of Massage Envy locations around long island and a couple during my year in florida. I've had in-home and on-site massages. I've been massaged on cruise ships, in hotels, and in physical therapy. Spa 505 is hands-down my worst experience(s) ever. The place looks like a dump inside and out. I tried not to let that impact me too much as it wouldnt be the first time ive discovered a diamond in the rough. In this case, it was perfectly representative of the business. I won't go into detail. Just take a look for yourself. From construction to decor, everything is under-sized, worn, and cheap. I was charged $10.50 tax on my three Groupon massages. Never had tax collected from me on a Groupon purchase. I presented a Credit Card and was told "cash is better". The whole thing seemed really shady. I paid cash and was offered no receipt. The cash was tucked into what looked like a cigar box. No register. I was also told that Groupon sessions cannot be booked "next-day". The woman at the counter said they need more notice and I could not book on friday, saturday, or sunday. The first masseuse was not much better than having a friend rub your back a bit. To her credit, she used a good amount of pressure. Not too hard, not too soft. Unfortunately, she seemed to have no concept of bio-mechanics or structure and was just rubbing. So i tried another individual the following visit and she was absolutely terrible. I would quite literally not be surprised if I was told this was her first week providing massage. For my third visit i re-scheduled the woman from my first visit, a week in advance. Upon showing up, the owner, Jim Wang, told me he had given away my appointment to a walk-in who he just assumed was me because they showed up at my time slot. No apology or anything. I complained, asked for my money back on the last unused session, to which he flatly replied, "no". I just walked out. He was obviously not going to offer me anything. Not even an apology. The entire experience has been so poor, I am not even going back for my last groupon session. I hate leaving money on the table but it's not worth subjecting myself to this place again. I purchased a groupon for a couples massage here. The groupon stated that it could be used any day. However, when I booked the appointment I was told that they would charge me a ADDITIONAL $86 for an appointment on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. So I just booked an appointment for during the week. I arrived on time, but was told that my boyfriend and I had to get massages in separate rooms because they used the only "couples massage room" on other people and it would not be ready for two hours. What was the point in making an appointment then?? After my second couples massage here I have changed my review to 5 stars. I was skeptical the first time, however, this place may seem unnoticeable but the service is excellent. The room has dim lighting and calming music to make you feel relaxed and with full length body towels covering you on the massage table you are never exposed. Wish I could give a negative star to this poor excuse of a business. My husband got me a groupon for an hour massage for me for my birthday. He then decided to get one for himself so we could enjoy the day together. Walked through the door was greeted by a cold, unwelcoming voice. Asks me if I have an appointment right away, no Hi, "how are you", no "welcome". Tell the person we do. She directs us to the other person up at the front. They loudly speak in another language ignoring us for a solid 2-3 minutes. The desk woman starts to look at me, begins to point to my stomach and ask me if I am okay. I'm really not sure what is happening, but she is literally POINTING at my stomach and saying"your stomach... You OK???You pregnant?" And I am NOT pregnant. I got so livid I stormed out the door. I am suffering with major mental illness that has made me gain weight rapidly, and I had recently just lost 45 lbs!! That is no way to conduct a business at all, completely unprofessional and appalling. Have your customers fill out a form when it comes to personal questions instead of POINTING at them and asking. I was mortified, upset, and extremely angry. To come into a place to relax and leave more tense and upset than I got there is just honestly horrible. Today, August 20th, is my one year anniversary with my girlfriend. In anticipation of this big day, she booked us an appointment at spa 505 for a couple's session on groupon. So imagine our surprise when we arrived to be told that our reservation was booked for August 19th. Not only did the person at the front tell my girlfriend that it was her fault, that she had requested the wrong day, but she rudely informed us that she would not honor a coupon on a "day of appointment". This was not a walk in, this was scheduled and mishandled entirely on their end. They mess up our appointment and expect us to pay more because of that? Will not be getting our business going forward, and they should seriously reconsider their policies. Negative stars. read more

WARNING ... Let me start with as soon as i got there they werent happy that i had a groupon. I had a pocketbook with me that had a Bose over the ears headset with an ipod attached . The hour massage was good but in the long run cost me $600 bucks because when i got home i realized my headset and ipod where gone from my bag. All a planned scheme since i was the last appointment i had to wait till morning to call, in which of course they had no idea where it was . When I called them to schedule they told me that they would not accept the coupon for weekends and that if I was displeased I should get a refund from Groupon.
