I don't like to leave low reviews for family owned businesses where they're nice and trying to make a living. But I want to leave an honest review so that Soya can improve and give transparency to those who may visit in the future. I get massages a LOT, so I have a lot of experiences to compare this to. I tried this place as it was convenient. The establishment was warm, I appreciate the AC was turned on once my session began, but it was still very warm and only cooled down a bit. The massage was not good. I was fully clothed (they provided an outfit) and the masseuse just rubbed, squeezed and pressed onto my body, there were no true techniques used to massage knots or even in a therapeutic or relaxing way. It was not what I expected, usually I have a bare back when I get massages. I don't think the gentleman massaging me is trained. It kind of felt like one of those half-effort quick shoulder squeezes my fiancé gives me while I'm sitting on at my computer and he's checking in on me. If you're looking to just lay there and kind of zone out, this might be the place for you. Maybe. But if you're looking for an effective and solid / real massage, I do not recommend. read more

During Covid time I found this place. It's located in Korea town right on Vermont /olympic area. This place is kinda secretive but honestly I've been coming here for the past 5 years. I found Lina and love getting massages from her. She is amazing! She makes you feel comfortable and knows how to make you feel good getting into the knots in your body. I have been coming here for anywhere from 1-3 times a month for the last six months after having a baby resulting in more aches and pains than usual. They are professional and very good at deep tissue/therapeutic massages. I also enjoy their fire cupping or hot stone additions on the end. They use real fire cupping methods (better results with this) instead of the plastic suction cups that I've seen other places use. I didn't love that I had to change clothes completely just for a FOOT massage -- seems very unnecessary. Other than that, the woman massaging did an okay job but wasn't very firm. I always enjoy my combo massage at Soya. I usually try to call in to make sure they have availability since it's a small shop. I noticed a lot of walk-ins during my massage which was a little disruptive and I wish people would call/schedule even if it's while you're driving over to make sure if they are free. I paid $70 for my 90 minute combo massage...totally worth it as I have been there about 4 times and they were all legit masseuses. They have private areas for the massages closed off by curtains. Also, please make sure to tip generously. I know there are a lot of cheap people out there thinking 20% for a massage is generous but when you are paying under market prices, if your masseuse is good, you should give them about $20 for 90 min combo (or at least $15) It's a lot of hard work - I'm tired after giving someone a 5 minute massage. They are located on the second floor & have a private parking lot which is easy during the day but might be crowded in the evenings or weekends because it's shared with a few restaurants. I feel very relaxed. The warmth of the massage table was perfect as well. The price of the massage is extremely fair and appreciated. The masseuse give you time to get dressed following the massage. The clothes they provide you to wear during massage are loose fitting and comfortable. Cash tips are appreciated. We are grateful for the wonderful hospitality and service. I've driven by this establishment many times and never knew it even existed. It's located in Koreatown off of Olympic Blvd. and a block west of Vermont (aka not the best neighborhood). After weeks of complaining of stiff neck and shoulders, a fellow yelper recommended this establishment. I checked her review on Yelp and finally made an appointment. I made my way to a small strip mall and walked upstairs. The decor is not anything impressive but I can care less for the decor. I was there for a massage! Upon arrival, they checked my vaccination card and had me sanitize my hands. They then led me into a cubicle with a massage bed blocked off by a curtain. They told me to undress, wear the provided shirt and shorts, and put my belonging into a basket. They then placed the basket under the massage bed. As everyone mentioned in their review, Eva definitely has strong hands and fingers. I specifically requested her as she was recommended by other reviewers. Low frills, yet clean place to get a massage, which is totally okay with me because they have a parking lot, are close to my home, and have good prices. However, the last time I went in, the manager MADE me tip more than I was comfortable with. I wasn't totally satisfied with the services on my last visit because I called ahead and requested a 90 minute full body+feet massage, which they first agreed to, but shortly after the manager called me back and said they only had time for a 60 minute massage. Normally when I get 60 minute massages, they spend half the time on the back and half the time on the front. I was faced down for the entire massage so it felt like they missed entire sections of my body. (And only spent about a minute rubbing my feet, although this is where I said I'm having the most pain.) The woman doing my message tried to upsell me 3 times on hot stones, for $10 which I politely declined although it was annoying to keep interrupting while I was trying to relax. It was an ok experience but I wasn't totally happy, and wanted my tip to express that, however when I tried to leave after paying and leaving a tip, the manager MADE ME still tip more so it was 20%. Then he proceeded to look at me confused when I tried to decline. Weird, high pressure, money grab situation that left me feeling puzzled and taken advantage of. This place has massage in a long room divided into cubicles that are dimly lit but not atmospheric at all. No music to soothe your brain or help you meditate. You are given a generic grey cotton shorts/t-shirt combo to wear (and must remove your street clothes but few helpful hooks to hang your stuff up). Then the masseuses rub you down vigorously to break up the tissue in your muscles. This is called a DRY massage. It certainly breaks up any stiffness. The main issue is that this place is really no frills and you can feel like it's a line-up in a massage factory. Don't be too put off, they do a fantastic deep tissue massage at bargain prices. I normally don't have male massagers, but was comfortable with the head honcho guy and a second male (yes, I went twice!), yet I had a frustrating experience with a third fella...the issue is that the English comprehension is so poor I got frustrated that they were going too rough on an area in which I was especially sensitive and wanted them to ease off. I also listened to my gut that I wasn't feeling a professional vibe with this man (though that might have been my own hypersensitivity aggravated by a lack of spoken communication.) The language barrier is one you will have to decide how you want to navigate-- at times it doesn't matter but at other times it sure does matter that your male masseuse understands the nuances of the particular body issue you are trying to convey. There are literally hundreds of massage parlors advertising on billboards throughout Koreatown so I wouldn't know how to pick one for a decent full body dry massage other than with the use of Yelp. I really love soya massage! They give acupressure massages which are great for if you work out or if you're on your feet all day. Very consistent and hits all the right spots. I've been going for over a year and it's taken me a while to find a place that was right for me. The price is good too - compared to a lot of other places, it's fairly priced and they don't guilt you into tipping. I still tip well though because service is good :) The ambiance is modest which makes sense, reminds me of the acupressure massages that I got in China. No frills but that's what I need! It was okay. That's the theme of this place. We call in and they tell us $40/hour since we're bringing three people. We get there and the price is $60 so we already were thinking about leaving. Giving the place a benefit of the doubt, we decided to go through with it. They gave us shirt and shorts to change into, which is a plus and is actually pretty cool. Throughout the massage, you could tell the masseuse was experienced. Hit all the spots, however I fell asleep during the massage and when I woke up I was pretty uncomfortable. Tried to tip $5 and was heavily pressured into giving $5 more, didn't feel good about that at all. Overall, I feel better than I did before walking in, but I don't think it was worth the money, and the pressuring of the tip didn't really help either. I found this nice place to get a good massage from Sharon one of the strong masseuse there I highly recommend. She has strong hands applying a lot of good pressure during the massage so you feel really good afterwards. Massages start at $35 and go up from there. I usually get the $40 full body massage for 1 hour. They offer cupping too. When you park in the parking lot you need to notify the parking attendant where you're going. I made a mistake of not doing so. I ended up leaving very upset. Still paid for the session and gave a crappy tip but I didn't sleep well that night. Woke up the next morning really upset and violated. Called the establishment and gave them hell in Korean. They said they would grant me a 1 hour 50 min massage but that was not the case in the end. - My nipple was touched. Why TF would you do that. - The lady manager speaks AT you and if you want to get your point across, you have to yell at her too. AND she hung up on me. I was upset because they decided to not grant the 1 hour 50 minute make up session that they said they would. - If you don't like your session and it was traumatizing, say something then. Not later. And what I mean by dry massage, is you that you don't have to go to a Korean Spa, shower, jacuzzi and then massage. I usually am on the go for work, and this place really does the massage trick! No appointment necessary. Although, this one I had to wait 30 mins. Totally fine, considering one of KTowns beloved ToFu houses is right underneath. Anyone you get here has there own special technique, but pricing you're best experience is with a full 60 minute massage ($40). Tip: tell your massage therapist your strength level. I have a lot of knots in my back because of doing bootcamp and not stretching regularly, so he amp's up the pressure to "this hurts but breath and it'll feel amazing." They have clean loaner outfits they prefer you to change into for sanitation purposes. Always left with such relaxation and detox. They accept MC and Visa. Try to bring cash tips, but they'll make an exception. Overall the money and experience are both worth it. read more

I love this spot! I have really tight shoulders and crazy knots and the staff here really do a great job getting my problem areas. I prefer a really strong masseuse and they always deliver!! Friendly staff and although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a spa massage spot, I prefer this over a weak spa massage anyday!! Just what my body needs when it's feeling tight and stiff. I often come here for a 60-90min full body massage and I leave feeling completely rejuvenated and knot-free. My most recent visit was with Henry and he was really good! He really goes deep into your knots and kneads through it like dough! I'd say.. Its a good kind of pain (don't worry, you can communicate if you want them to go softer or harder depending on your pain tolerance). I've had a few other people and they were all great- they ask which areas/muscle group you want them to focus on and spend a majority of the time working on those areas but they'll find other spots you didn't know were in pain too.
