Dr. Soxman was my dentist when I was a child. Horrifying doesn't begin to describe my experience. She did multiple unnecessary drilling procedures (when I didn't even have cavities-- they were "exploratory") and never numbed me correctly. When I would complain, she told my mother I was overreacting and there was "no way" that I could feel anything. I had multiple cavities filled and two root canals in her office with insufficient anesthesia. This resulted in an anxiety disorder and a fear of the dentist that still haunts me to the point where I can't even have an exam without a panic attack -- and the sound of a drill is unbearable. I now can only have even minor dental work under complete sedation. I left Finding Nemo in tears because there was a dentist office scene.
Long story short, please don't trust her unless you have thousands and thousands of dollars for therapy and sedation dentistry in the future.
I've had two children with zero pain medication during labor -- so it's not like I have no tolerance or anything. I'm trying to save someone from the fate of a crippling fear of the dentist. read more
