I have visited this range several times and thought it was a nice facility! Unfortunately, that's where the good ends.... Two separate range safety officers have demanded to see my ATF tax documents for my fully legal firearms. I was told that the owner doesn't allow anyone to shoot class 3 weapons without presenting their tax forms to staff (I brought a legal silencer and SBR). I was also told that this is for my own protection because I don't know the rules/regulations. Myself and the gun community don't appreciate this overreach. While I understand that a private business can make their own rules within reason, treating customers like they are criminal or incompetent isn't the way to keep business. I don't need protection from you, I'm fully aware of the rules, and the fact that you don't have the right as an FFL to demand my private tax documents. If you are in the class 3 community - steer clear of this range. They are playing ATF Agent. I'll take my business to other ranges that don't trample my freedoms. read more

This is the nicest shooting range I've been to. Super clean, modern and a huge gun library of every kind of firearm you would want to try. It feels like the FBI shooting ranges you see in movies where it's like a laboratory. Allows me to focus on my shooting and improve my technique. I have had Beal as an instructor for private lessons and he is the AR15 wizard. Highly recommend private training by him. He is non-intimidating, professional and super knowledgeable which are the top things I look for related to guns. read more

Beautiful shop and range. I came here recently to practice with my new Glock, and was excited to see an indoor range close to where I live. The staff was very friendly, and didn't seem to be pushing me into things I don't want , especially having to go through the storefront to get to the range area. Upon first glance, it looked as though the guns were decently priced, but I wasn't there to shop. There's a waiver to sign and a video to watch on range etiquette for first time users. It may have a bunch of info that everyone knows, but I can see why they include it. I very much enjoyed my experience here, though I feel the range prices themselves are a little pricey for just renting a lane. You would expect them to want participants in longer in order to get them to purchase more ammunition. It's not a problem, I knew the price well in advance and will be back very soon. Looking forward to the events they host. read more

Went to Southwick's, for the first time, on a Friday morning and it was awesome. My son and I went to use their indoor range and had a great time. As newbies, we had to watch a short safety video. This was good information for anyone using a facility like this for the first time. The gentleman checking us in was prior military (as am I) so he knew his stuff. Speaking of military, we get a 50% discount for range cost. All in all, a solid two thumbs up! read more

Went for my CPL class. It was a long day ,but got all the needed requirements done for certificate in one day. Well organised instruction, knowledgable instructor, and answered any and all questions. Easy to find, newer facility, bright, extra clean.....even the range! Helpful and pleasant staff, reasonable prices and merchandise choices. Selections will probably grow with store, the room is there. Newbies get a Range Safety video, and liability waiver to sign. The video is starting to be the norm, to standardize orientation, and ensure all basic points are covered, even if the store is busy. Im sure their insurance carrier prefers it also. As said the range was Clean, well ventilated. and kept that way ! An up to date range, great lighting, even dimmable lane bench lights. Target carriers and controls work. Have been to numerous ranges and was excited to see one closer to Kalamazoo. The whole experience felt like a huge production and was a nuisance and total turnoff. New users have to watch a 5ish minute video, which with the traffic and other video being played for other new patrons, was hard to hear and felt like "busy" work. Why not just offer a gun range expert to new to shooting users? Oh wait, that's what the range experts usually do anyway soooo why make new patrons sit through a video? I can appreciate thoroughness and safety but this felt overdone. Also, though some of the staff was friendly, others could use some customer service training on friendless and approachability....maybe a 5ish minute video on it? read more

Upon arriving at Southwick's, it was found most of what my family had seen available online was not in shelf and there was a heavy lacking of middle priced items. What was available at the time were either very small items or items that were priced very high with little to none in between. Upon not seeing what was listed on the site, my family had looked elsewhere in the store and my father had found a gun he liked.He then had been talking with an employee about purchasing the gun where it would have to be ordered in store. He was also available to purchase the gun on layaway and pay down 10% due to the fact that he'd not been planning on buying a gun that day(He received a gift card for the holiday), but since it was also not in store. This employee was very polite about things and nice, however, had to leave mid-transaction where the store manager came in. Suddenly, the story had changed. The gun my father planned on buying suddenly now had to have at least 10% down in order to be purchased on layaway, and another 50% was required because it was not in their store currently and had to be ordered. A sudden 50% change in down payment is a hefty price when considering we are talking about a a high price item. It's not just a matter of a few tens of dollars, its a matter of a few hundred. The above could be mentioned with a grain of salt considering the possibility of mistake, however, it was found out to us that this manager, a relative of the owner, receives a commission for every thing he sells in store. When my family had asked about the items they'd seen online, it was told we could use the card online to purchase items, or to have it ordered in the store and come back later, which is a problem for us considering we live a distance away. When we looked online to order what we'd previously seen, we saw no option to use the gift card online, and called about the occurrence. We talked to another employee there and were told we'd be called back after the manager got out of a class due to the fact that she wasn't aware about using these cards online. We did not receive a call and called back later, and were told that we were not able to use the gift card like previously mentioned. When asked to possibly make this transaction over the phone with the gift card information, we were refused once more and told to come in store. Mind the fact, that these items are not in their store and we'd have to come back yet another time. Essentially, if you are not ordering online, do not expect to find much in the store, do not expect consistent customer service or policies, and do not expect to be able to order anything gift cards online on their website. Called yesterday December 21st to see if they are open. They told me yes and normal hours. Drove 30 miles to get here on the 22nd at 1030am. It's closed . The sign on the door says open the 22nd at 10am. That's just crappy. read more

Love this place. Started going to their range a few months ago and have gotten to know a few of the employees. Everyone has been helpful personable. Nice selection of handguns and ammo. A bit light on accessories. Good selection of rental guns too in both handgun and carbines. Great place to go if you're in the market for a handgun or just want a great place to shoot. read more

I went their to Southwick's find a holster for my wife's M&P 9 Pro and the lady at the counter was very helpful. She even suggested that I not try the stock holsters and look to alien gear. They didn't get a sale that day but they will have my future business. read more

Really displeased overall with the service, acted like I was a huge bother to them, I think I asked 3 questions, 2 of which were about short barreled rifles because I didn't know anything about them. Last one was a question about the different weights of ammo in a 9mm. Acted like I was a complete idiot. Selection leaves a lot out, they have a couple of really expensive, out of reach guns that they basically throw in your face as soon as you walk in and act like you're a criminal if you touch them. Will not be returning, try your luck in Kalamazoo. read more
