View from my seat - Leaving El Paso
    Shayla B.

Probably one of the most painless flights that I've ever had. I guess I can also attribute this to the ease of navigating the El Paso airport. I'm starting to learn that smaller airports are so much more enjoyable, even though I rarely ever get a chance to fly into smaller airports these days. Got to ELP two hours in advance thinking that the check-in and TSA lines would be crazy. Couldn't have been farther from the truth. Literally spent the better part of an hour and half just chilling and waiting for my boarding announcement. When it came time to board, everyone was in and on the plane in a breeze. Despite it being a small plane and small flight, I was able to snag a window seat and had a nice nighttime view of the city while the plane took off. The attendants were friendly, the seats appeared to be clean and they were quite comfortable. Since this was a shorter flight, I didn't partake in any of the "entertainment" services. They had extra snacks and the flight attendant offer me and the passenger next to me extras. I'll never say no to some Southwest trail mix :). The only thing that I found odd is that they had a "plane change" in Phoenix. Never understood why this is the only airline that calls layovers "plane changes". I also don't understand why they don't have a direct flight from SFO to ELP, but maybe because ELP is a smaller airport. But, I digress. In the end, I had a good experience with Southwest on this flight. I don't always fly Southwest, but this flight experience made me question why I don't fly with them more often.

I like Southwest. They seem to be on time. I love the no baggage fees for the first 2 bags. The employees seem more friendly than other airlines. Southwest airlines is my preferred airline to travel with. Not much else to say. Straight to the point and brief. Happy Yelping.

My kiddos took their first flight alone (yes, I thought I was going to die lol). Everyone who worked for Southwest...from the ticket counter all the way to the stewardess that watched them on the flight were great. They answered all my freaked out mom questions. They double checked everything and made my kids at ease. My kids said they loved the pretzels and drinks!

They told us check-in was closed and we'd have to try our luck at the gate, NO GUARANTEES. At the gate, we were told it would be $99 per bag for "late check-in." We explained we were there on time, and the downstairs staff just walked off, but the agent didn't care. She eventually lowered it to $99 for both bags, like she was doing us a favor or earning commission. To make matters worse, the flight was then delayed for over an hour. I asked for a refund since clearly we weren't "late" anymore, nope, too bad, money already taken, talk to customer service. So I did. And guess what? Customer service told me Frontier doesn't even charge for late bag check-in. Oh? Then what did I pay for? They gave me a generous $50 voucher, which might just cover a tray table rental next time. When I asked again about the charge, they changed their story; suddenly, it was for overweight bags. Impressive, considering no one actually weighed them. Another blatant lie. We weighed our bags at the airport and were well under the limit. To wrap things up nicely, our bags took over 40 minutes to arrive at baggage claim in Vegas. I guess they needed a nap after such a dramatic journey. The whole experience was a joke. From start to finish, we were ignored, lied to, and charged unfairly, and the best they could offer was a lousy voucher. Even after speaking to a supervisor. I'm beyond disappointed and won't be flying Frontier again

To be honest, I didn't really care since the flights offered were non-stop and pretty inexpensive. I decided to go with them because of this. I'm sure it couldn't be worse than taking a bus somewhere. Let me tell you...that can really be the pits! Been there, done that! I'll try to avoid that. Lol. We'll save those stories for other days. Anyway...My flight to Las Vegas from El Paso (vice versa) ran smoothly. The airport staff could've been a little bit friendlier in El Paso but that's fine. The staff in Las Vegas was friendlier and more helpful. I also booked the hotel through Allegiant online. Everything with this mostly ran smoothly. I did a separate review on the hotel experience for MGM Grand. I will say that I appreciated the complimentary night! I was charged for a two-night stay rather than three. Right now is a good time to travel if you feel safe enough to do so. The planes were spotless and seemed like they were newer models. All of the staff followed safety precautions by wearing masks. They offered passengers masks and gloves. They asked passengers to keep their masks on at all times while in the waiting area and on the plane. There are some minor complaints that I have. 1.) I wish they would fly out to more destinations from El Paso. Right now, they're only flying to Las Vegas, cities in Florida and San Diego. Allegiant...please consider adding Houston to your list of destinations offered in El Paso! I do see that they fly into Hobby Airport but not directly from El Paso. We usually go through George Bush Airport but that's fine. Why am I asking for this? Because I want to go visit my nephews in Houston more often! It is always SO expensive to fly to Houston with every other airline I've used. I have no idea why! The drive to H-town from here takes about 10 hours. 2). They charge ridiculous amounts for drinks and snacks on the flight. They aren't complimentary. A beer is around $9 and a can of soda is $3. The snacks are around $5. Water is $3. Another thing...It also costs around $30 for each bag you check in (give or take). However, you are allowed to take one carry on bag on the plane. Overall, I recommend Allegiant Airlines. I'll definitely use them again to fly out to Vegas and maybe the other destinations they offer us in El Paso at this time. I'm looking into driving to Phoenix and catching a flight to Houston from there. We'll see... I'm saying 4.5 but rounding up to 5 stars. :)

I'm surprised the president of this company, Mr. Paul Corman, will allow these things to occur. I've visited and spent much money with Westside SunTravel before, but never had any unpleasant experiences. I've been dealing with them for a longtime but never had to dear with such unspeakable, selfish people Who had no common courtesy to their clients needs..we canceled all our Travel with them & ask for our copy of our passport and credit card back. This was at Eastside SunTrevor located at 1718 N. Zaragoza. My neighbor & I had an appointment with one of the agents at that place. On 31st of October at 10:AM to pay the Downpayment that we've been talking about for our trip. The problem was when we were conducting business at their office about a one hour later I needed to go to the restroom. So I asked them & They said their restroom is only for the Employees going as far to tell me to go to the next door to Popeyes or theother side insurance company's restroom. I couldn't believe what I was hearing... I even asked to see the manager & explained it to-her that I'm Elderly person my bladder is not dependable as it used to be therefore I need to go now.. but they wouldn't give it up still want me to go to next door... keep saying it's their policy. Most of us, when the time comes to go you have to go ... I couldn't believe what was happening. I have been with SunTravel before but never experienced anything like it.... The reason we went to the Eastside, we live close to buy it. It only takes five minutes to get there. So instead of driving way out to the west side since it's the same company we never expected anything like this... What upsets me was that they didn't have the simple common decency of allowing their clients who is elderly need to use a restroom. I don't think the president of this company Mr.Paul Corman, will never allow it something like this. Anyway, next morning on Friday the November 1st, at 9 AM I called Westside wanted to talk to Mr. Corman, but they told me he's not in so I asked for the manager and manager who's name is Ann, came on when I explained what happened she sounded like she's not surprised and she said it's their contract whatever that means... but I told her that I want Mr. Coleman to know what is going on out there and then she said that she will let him know. There is no response whatsoever from them. But I want people of El Paso to know that's how they conduct their business. The way I see it, if they don't want anybody to use their restroom, they shouldn't be having business in the public first place.

And whenever I return, I'm always looking forward to my home and my bed and my life here. And it's a nice, easy airport to navigate. It's the equivalent of a 2-3 block walk between the check-in and bag claim areas (which are next to each other) and most gates (up one level and then to the right or left.) We are neither a big crazy airport nor a tiny airport. We're right in the middle. Airport staff are generally quite nice. Restrooms are always very clean to spotless in my experience. Precheck is a plus to sail through security in 1-5 minutes, but there are rarely long regular lines unless it's peak times on holidays, after a large event like the Sun Bowl, or a there's a large group traveling together. Areas for improvement: El Paso hasn't updated to provide a lot of outlets to charge devices - it should try to add some power stations with seating in the terminal. Concessions are a bit of a weak point. I wish they were less bland, less expensive. It would be wonderful if the selections better represented the El Paso/Juarez region. For example, I would love to see Chuco Relic selling their goods at the airport, and someone selling some food and alcohol from our region (such as our NM wineries like Lescombes, Zin Valle and Rio Grande, and our El Paso breweries like Aurelia's, Mountain Star and Three Missions.) There are lots of great local restaurants that would be great to see, too. Mexican burritos make great airport to-go food. Sadly, much of the US isn't familiar with true Mexican burritos -- but should be. I also think an airport El Taquito and a Panda Burgers would do well. I'd like to see Carne Asada, Barbacoa, Deshebrada, Machaca, Cabrito, Chile Rellenos and tamales available. It would also be nice to see more local art (we have amazing talent here!) and some more local history of the region, or profiles of people who contributed to making the El Paso / Juarez / Las Cruces region what it is today.
