One particular visit the water attachment wasn't working properly so she used the dental tools from my try to fix it because they couldn't find pliers. She then attempted to use them on me but I quickly stopped her and reminded her what she just used them for! Dr. Varkey has become rough and rude if you question him at all. His work has actually worsened the condition of my teeth and mental health. At one visit he was resting his body weight on my face, I stayed quiet but eventually started to tear up. He become super frustrated saying " you're always here and when you come you're a problem! " The tears really began to flow as he partially finished the work. I'm so thankful to the lead assistant for hugging me up and trying to make it better. Unfortunately I still have to see him again to finish up work (uncapped tooth left open for 3 months) and hopefully not leave out with ANOTHER ROOT CANAL. Those are given out more than the toys in the treasure box. I'm down to 19 teeth since United Smiles and requested dental partials now that I can't chew many solid foods. That was a year and a half ago and the response everytime is I'll look into it. She finished entering the other patient's info and she was on her cell phone and other people walked in and she continued to help them, instead of helping me out as I was next on line to make a follow up appointment for my daughter. Most times it was hard to get her to even go back to the dentist because she just didn't want to be in that pain. She understood there would be some pain but not to the extent she was in. She would say I think they drilled or did something too hard. The pieces of the braces often fell off in her mouth. She was careful about what she ate like gum, candy and other foods that could damage the braces but these things still occured. My older child had gotten braces from a place in Lynchburg, VA and never had any of the problems with their braces that my other child ended up having. It's up to you where you go but just do your research and make sure this is the right place for you because even with good customer service we sometimes overlook the real service we should be getting.

She said things like, "I don't have time for this," and, "she doesn't understand," while using an aggressive and unpleasant tone. Instead of feeling supported, I was left feeling inadequate and confused about the billing. I eventually had to seek reassurance from another staff member to feel more comfortable. Overall, the clinical care was acceptable; however, I felt that Dr. Patel could have been more reassuring, especially for patients like me who are going through this type of treatment for the first time. It is important for both staff and providers to take the time to explain procedures and billing thoroughly, and to offer reassurance to patients who may feel uncertain or anxious. Greater care and communication in this area would help patients feel more confident and supported.
