The explanation... none really. Maybe everything they touch does turn to gold. Back in the day, when factory mufflers rusted through every two to three years, Midas guaranteed their parts for as long as you owned your car. I even remember an ad where "Old Man McCreedy" would bring his ancient Model T in for his umpteenth "free" muffler. Now that mufflers routinely last ten years or more their guarantee is largely illusory since most people dump their cars long before then. There's a common scene in many old movies where the unsuspecting customer asks how much will something cost... "how much you got?" comes the smirking reply. I don't drive a foreign car so the fact that I had to pay for some special type of oil I didn't want and wasn't aware was highly unusual to me. There wasn't anyone else there and maybe their prices are keeping business away. They advertise auto & truck sales so maybe that's where the pricing comes in? I mentioned my hearing impairment and they seemed very courteous on how they spoke to me, which I definitely appreciated. The front entrance is wheelchair accessible & there's plenty of room in the lobby.

I purchased a car today (my lease just expired) and when shopping around it was clear that Malouf had the lowest price. For the same make/modal/features, Malouf was over $1,100 less than the nearest competitor (Lester Glen). This takes into account markup over MSRP and dealer rebates. The Trailblazer I purchased was being sold by Malouf at $1600 over MSRP. BUT, they offered me a dealer rebate of $1,000, so the net addition was $600. Lester Glen (identical specs) was $1800 over MSRP. All American & Quality Chevrolet (Old Bridge) were $5,000 and $3,500 over MSRP!!!! Do your research then head to Malouf.
