Friendly staff & great food from this Cafe. We've been there a number of times & have not been disappointed.

I'm only giving one star because I can't give them a zero rating! We sat there for one hour before receiving our food because the waitress forgot to put our order in!! We had to share a table with a nice gentleman who got his food within minutes of ordering! We all ordered at the same time. read more

This is a hidden gem that I wish we found earlier. Definitely returning next time we visit the area. Restaurant has a hole in the wall vibe and is filled with locals that may wonder who the heck you are, but customer service was great and so was the food. Great catfish and good breakfast. Good service. Very popular local spot, so expect a crowded dining room. Not a good place if you are afraid of getting covid19, because the servers don't wear masks and it's so tight inside. They have a little spot to sit outside behind the restaurant, but it's not really intended to be used by customers. read more

This place is your typical hole-in-the-wall diner but has AMAZING food! Our group of 5 went specifically for the fried catfish plate and you got the most bang for your buck! This little cafe may not look like much on the outside. But when you see this many cars and folks standing outside, you hit the jackpot. Food is great, service is outstanding, you can't go wrong. I will start by saying this place is what one would expect from a little, local, country meat and 3 diner/cafe. Breakfast is breakfast, all the normal choices as somewhere else. I like the biscuits and gravy. ( sticks to your ribs for hours). Sometimes the eggs are a little to greasy, but it is a diner. It can be very busy for breakfast and lunch, seating maybe sparse to nonexistent. However, as one could expect from folks in the country...... at the bigger tables, if there are empty seats, and you ask if you may join them. You will probably be welcomed. The lunch special changes, and it has enough choices to make even a picky eater happy. If not, then order from the menu. Service, some blame the waitresses, but they can only bring the food when it is ready, and the cook can only sling it, when it is done. Grills are only so big. If you want fast food, maybe you should visit McDonalds. Instead, sit down and have conversation while waiting for food. Prices are good. This is a locals place, but outsiders/passer throughs are welcome. We stop here every time we are passing through that area. read more

I was looking for a place to stop for lunch that wasn't a chain. My first impression was how clean the place was. Even the HVAC vents in the ceiling were free of dust (a spot many restaurants overlook when cleaning) Next was my unsweetened iced tea. It was great! Most places have so much chlorine in their water that their drinks taste like pool water. Not here. They're either using filters or they're not on city water. (I drink a lot of iced tea so this matters to me) I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (fantastic!) and fries (crinkle cut) and couldn't have been happier. The service was quick and friendly. We dropped by here for lunch while we were out property searching. $6.95 lunch special included so much food we had to take some home. I had fried catfish with side of baked potato salad. That potato salad was dreamy! My husband had hamburger steak-naturally covered in gravy. We were both happy with our meals. I ask a friend to recommend the best catfish place in town. This was there recommendation. It was exactly what you would expect from a southern style home owned restaurant. It is a dive. The catfish was excellent. Very moist with a good breading. I also had white beans, corn on the cob, and fries. Good cornbread. They offer a variety of vegetable plates. For deser,t I had warm pecan pie with ice cream on top with a cup of coffee. The filling and pecans were great very rich, countered by the ice cream. The crust was a little dry. amazing! i was critical when i saw it at first. it looked small, a little run down, and was local. but the parking lot was packed (that's a good sign.) i suppose it's what's on the inside that counts, because the second we walked in i felt welcome and at home. and the food was delicious ! the best burger i've ever eaten!! the employees even knew the regular customer's names. highly recommend. don't judge a book by it's cover. also, love the toilet flower pot in the front read more

The burgers are great. The loaded Hamburger Steak is amazing and the fish is the best in Paris. The only complaint I have is the size. It would be great if they could eventually expand. It's our favorite diner in town. read more

This cafe is delicious! Fast. Friendly. Great prices. Husband saw spicy pork chops on the dinner menu- server happily added it to the breakfast selection serving it with eggs. So good. I went with the basics- eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, with home fries. Great housemade sausage, airy biscuits and gravy swimming with chunks of even more sausage. Oh the potatoes. I'm writing this review while my husband is eating the two GIANT pancakes that came with his 2x2x2. The pancakes are great (I had a bite), and he raved about the bacon (perfectly crisp) and fried eggs (farm fresh and cooked to perfection) as well. I had the grilled chicken sandwich - very tasty and perfectly sized for the smaller appetite (if you eat more, you'll want to order a side). The place is frequented by locals and the cops (always a good sign) and so has a friendly atmosphere. It was crowded at 11:45 am but had cleared out some by 12:30. Why 3 stars? It took 45 minutes for us to get our food and refills on water and coffee were slow and sporadic. There was a rancor among the three waitresses manning the 1,000 square foot area...as expressed by the one waiting on us. But both waitresses we interacted with were friendly with us. Nevertheless...Four stars for food, two for service...brings me to three. But the pancakes may be worth it all. I don't think the slow service would keep us from stopping in again if another road trip brings us this way. read more

I had to put ice cubes in my soup to cool it down. My husband's hamburger steak didn't have gravy on it and his mashed potatoes had just enough gravy to say that they put some on. The spiced apples that they served came straight from a can. The staff was so rushed that they were turning away before you were done talking. (Team work did not look like a strong point) All of the customers knew each other and even sat down with each other to eat. I have lived here for a couple of years and heard here and there that Southside Café had good food and especially pretty good catfish. Well I tried it and the catfish was not good and could not have been more bland. The mashed potatoes were fake "mashed" potatoes. I ordered the country fried steak and received a bland fried chicken breast. Lima beans were bland and straight from the can. I was born and raised in the south and love country dives that actually do the work and make good homemade southern foods. This is not that place. read more
