Great teddy bear cut achieved on my mini doodle. I plan on going back for sure. They also have camp.

I'm heartbroken and furious about what happened to my dog at Southpaws (1315 8th Ave S, Nashville). I trusted them with his grooming on April 10, 2025--something I've done before. When I picked him up hours later, the groomer casually mentioned he had swallowed "a very small piece" of a toy. No one had called to tell me. They claimed it was no big deal and described it as only a few inches. Fast forward two days--my dog was violently ill. I rushed him to the emergency vet (Blue Pearl), where they discovered a full stuffed giraffe toy, larger than a water bottle, lodged in his stomach. Emergency surgery was required. He's now recovering with pain meds, a cone, and crate rest. The vet bill? Over $7,000. The owner admitted fault and promised to "make things right." First, she claimed she didn't have insurance. Then, when I involved an attorney, she suddenly said her provider would reach out. That was over two weeks ago. Still no word. Just delays, excuses, and a complete lack of accountability. This level of negligence is unacceptable. If you care about your pet's safety and your peace of mind, I urge you to reconsider before bringing them here. read more

I travel a lot for work and my girl has always been well cared for by this amazing staff. I have been going to SouthPaws's for 7 years even with my rainbows pups. My dog absolutely loves walking through to door to see everyone and I rest assured because they love her back. I can't recommend this place enough and we are so blessed by each of them. read more

I have two dogs, one with separation anxiety, and they both start jumping with excitement when we pull up to SouthPaws and they run inside and don't look back! The SouthPaws team is extremely professional, warm, and compassionate about every dog in their care. All dogs should be lucky enough to go to SouthPaws! read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience at SouthPaws yesterday. I went in for a groom and they told me she was so agitated while getting blow dried that she "scratched her nail completely off". Either that's true and she was completely neglected while in distress, or they cut her nail off on accident and lied about it. Either way, it was not okay and what's worse is they still charged me for the service!! I have given this place my business for the last two years and sadly now I don't trust her in their care. I was shocked and disappointed at the way the situation was handled when I picked her up. I will now have to take her to the vet which is an expense I shouldn't have had to incur due to their carelessness. Being charged $60 to pick up my dog with a missing nail and bloody paw is just wrong. read more

They have been great. Always there when we need it. Very kind to our pup. He is totally excited when we arrive. Not as polished a facility as some others, but that is not what matters. They are right on top of it if there is a community outbreak of a virus across Nashville, warning customers to be careful and what to watch for. They are very careful about dogs being up to date on shots. All good. read more

I've been bringing my dog to Southpaws for years, and I always appreciate that they always know who I am and that Briley is who I'm there to pick up/ drop off. They follow up things I've checked in about (how does he do with getting his nails done for example) and just seem really on top of things. It give me a lot of trust in them, and of course Bri loves getting play time with friends :) Thanks South paws! read more

Do not bring your dogs here. My boy was dropped off and he has a humping problem. We told them this and they said "no problem! We'll take special care to train him out of it. And will keep an eye on it." The first time he was there he got into a scuffle and they put him in a separate room and also kept him up front with the elderly and staff dogs and he had a blast. The second time is when it takes a turn. I get a call that he got into a fight. That he bit another dog and she's requesting my info and that we pay for her dog's vet bill. The employee admits openly to me that they're short staffed so he left all the dogs alone for a while and left. However, we weren't allowed to look at the tapes from the fight. I asked several times only to be told no. We paid for her vet bill to be nice, but when my dog got home, he had HUGE bite marks on his throat and an infection they didn't tell us about. We saw an employee on camera once throw my dog into a kennel and not check on him once after. The woman (whose dog my dog got into a fight with) then starts emailing me saying I'm lying because they told her my dog had been kicked out of every doggy daycare in the area for being "aggressive". Uh this is the ONLY doggy daycare he's ever been to. So that's news to me. Steer clear of this place! read more

At first I was very happy about this new experience. But then I watched the cameras and they just have all the dogs in one room, mopping the pee as the puppets go potty on the concrete floor. They refuse to let them outside when it rains (which drives me bananas because my baby won't pee INSIDE) so he held it the entire time he was at that place. The workers seem nice but truly they're just kids that don't care about the customers nor the experience provided. Just there to collect a check. I would never recommend this place nor take my baby back EVER!! read more

Best dog service in town. My dogs leap out of the truck to go to SouthPaws in the morning. They just take great care of your dogs. Two thumbs up. read more

Overall, this established should be awarded the SHITTY CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD. Come on down if you want shitty experience, cause you'll get it here! I brought my dog here several times to have his nails clipped and pads trimmed which they did an OK job. Several times his nails were cut a little too short causing him to bleed. Unfortunately, I picked him up with blood crusted on his fur/skin. This place has ZERO attention to detail in keeping their clients "clean" when returned to their owners. My dog is a white/red Papillion and has a red patch near his bum. I finally brought him in for a grooming appt and asked to cut the white fur around the red into the shape of a heart. Well, aside from hacking the red patch with clippers and the 3.5 hours time it took to groom a 15lb dog, the customer service at this place is absolutely awful and ridiculous. For the 3.5 hours my dog was under SouthPaws care, he had NO WATER. He drank water for over a minute when we arrived home. They told me he had "access to work" which was near other dogs, which my dog steered clear of that area, but they didn't bring a bowl to him. I also informed the person on the other end (an ignorant teenage kid) that I wasn't happy with the "heart" - he was completely silent for over 10 seconds. When I responded with "well, I guess no response is a response", he replied back, "I'm not sure what you want me to say". Has this kid EVER had customer service training? The response is common sense...but we all know that not everyone has these basic skills. I called back to ask for the manager's name, and the woman who answered the phone refused to give me information and hung up on me. She was so rude, full of attitude and never once offered an apologize or acknowledgement of the awful services my dog and I received. About 20 mins later and without my request, they provided me with a full refund. Obviously they realized their faults, especially at my expressed anger. This was a poor attempt to downgrade the shitty customer service because it doesn't place any hesitation in writing this review. read more

We've just switched groomers and this was our first time at SouthPaws. They did a terrific job from scheduling, to working with us to understand and get a picture of what we wanted for Jesse - not an exact Bichon cut, to timely completion of the groom, and, most importantly, grooming him exactly as we asked for. I used to bring my dog here a few years ago and did not have a good experience. The staff never remembered me and never seemed excited to see my dog. The grassy area outside the front door was never cleaned so my dog was constantly stepping on other dog's poop when he had to go potty. They had "nap time" everyday which I believe was supposed to only be 2 hours, where they put all the dogs behind the indoor gates to clean the floors. But when I would check the cameras, they always put the dogs in there an extra 1-2 hours, so there were 3-4 hours every day that my dog wasn't able to run around and play. The worst part is that two different times they told me that my dog ate a poop bag, like completely swallowed it. I'm not sure how they let him get ahold of the bags and have time to eat it twice. They must have had the bags laying around and also not been watching the dogs very carefully. read more

After a bunch of dud groomers who just wanted to shave my Sheepadoodle down, we found Vee at southpaws and she has been a God-send. Loves my baby like her own, always goes the extra mile to make sure I get the result I ask for and is just an all around wonderful person. We are moving an hour away and for our last groom, Vee even got Slim a special present with treats, frisbee, comb, the sweetest little canvas of his paw print and a card that legit brought me to tears. Will be going out of my way to drive him up for grooms whenever I can, just so my baby can see his favorite friend. 100% recommend taking your dog to see Vee at Southpaws! read more

We have used SouthPaws for boarding and daycare since 2017 and have had nothing but great experiences. We started using them for our Boston Terrier who was epileptic, so she needed constant supervision in case she went into an episode and they took fantastic care of her and she was always excited to show up every single day for daycare. We've also had our Blue Heeler attend daycare and multiple boarding stays with SouthPaws and he also loves going to stay for a few nights every so often. Highly recommend! read more

My dog was extremely matted and so I knew they would need to shave him. Two hours pass and I get a call mentioning I have to take my dog to the vet because they cut him by mistake and blood was visible. I don't remember the conversation after that because I started driving to go pick up my dog right away. Upon seeing my dog, I had no words. Yes mistakes occur but do not try to sugarcoat a cut from an actual deep injury. They didn't charge me but had they, I would not have paid. My partner and I had our dog get stitches per the vets request due to how deep the injury was. Please please review all 1 star reviews before coming here. Do NOT take your dog here. They were amazing when I first moved to Nashville but with them getting busy, their service has declined. They butchered my dog ! I sent both my dogs and they don't even smell clean and my long hair dachshund hair looks like someone took kitchen scissors and grabbed random pieces of hair. Beyond horrible and I will never be coming back. I even wrote the owner to avoid a review and I was not even acknowledged so never coming back! read more

This place is incredible! I am traveling across country and I wanted to have my dog burn off a bunch of energy while me and my fiancé went out and explored Nashville and we couldn't have found a better place! We did a quick trial and even with that and a couple hours my puppy was wiped! Slept the rest of the night and we picked her up at 630! The next day she spent all day and they fed her, she came out so happy and probably had the best time of her life. I truly believe the staff is great and care deeply about your pet. I highly recommend this place! read more

Not good service. Groomer was late. Hair cut was bad. My dog was so stressed after the appointment he started vomiting blood. My vet said this is caused my major high stress situations for dogs. Do not take your dog here. The groomer absolutely butchered our doodle. And it took her 6 hours. Worst grooming experience I have ever had. The length is uneven and they shaved him down to the skin in some areas. They do not give you updates through the process at all- even when they take 3 hours longer than projected. They do not know how to handle dogs. Do not leave your dog with these incompetent people. Complete joke of a business. If I could get this place closed down I would so they could not do this to anyone else's dog. He also peed immediately after exiting the building which leads me to believe he was caged for his entire stay. read more

The first time I took my American Eskimo here, it was a good experience. They are able to get pets in pretty quickly if you're just in need of a bath rather than a full groom. But the last time wasn't as good. They didn't clean her ears and didn't comb out the matted fur she gets behind her ears. They also cut a few of her toenails too short and she had bloody paws :( (she is a white dog with white nails, so it's not too hard to tell how far is too far). I'm bummed, I had high hopes after our first visit and the price was pretty reasonable. Seems like it was a rush job and that annoyed me, I'd rather they took their time and were more thorough. read more

They always take such good care of my Blue girl!!! She sprints in the door when we park and whenever I check in on her on the webcam she's having a great time. once she wasn't eating during a boarding stay, they called to tell me and followed up to let me know that she ate after being hand fed... I took my doodle here and I really was hoping it would be good because of the convenient location. I let the groomer know he had a couple mats on his legs that needed to be worked out.
