Again, without at least providing 1 star rating, you are unable to provide a negative or zero rating. Since 2018, my daughter and I are obligated to use Southland Transportation - specialized busing to provide door-to-door service in picking up my child from the north side of the city and dropping her off at school on the south side of Edmonton. This is the worst bus service as many before me have outlined. Where they FAILED us? I am unable to count how many times since 2018 of how many times, they have either been extremely late, in extremely cold weather, of picking up my child or either missing her stop completely. There is limited contact with their office and/or the dispatcher as it appears no one is sufficient in answering their telephone lines at 7:00 am - 8:00 am in the morning when most schools start at 8:45-9:00 am. The contact number will continue to ring until disconnection, will direct you to a dispatcher cue with repeated indications to press a number to reach them with no answer, or may in fact revert you to Diversified Transportation where they cannot address your call as they are a separate entity. Of recent, the driver failed to pick up my child and she was standing outside for 20 minutes in -25 degree temperatures (this was Monday, January 7, 2019). They were late in picking her up on January 8, 2019 and had two young children approach my door to seek out my child! What?!! Anyone could have also abducted these two young children as the bus drivers are unable to leave their bus with children. Luckily, I was at home during this time to take and drop off my child to her school and was prepared to do this again for the week. However, I was finally able to reach a physical person in their office at 9:05 am to inquire on their poor service, and of course, they were apologetic on the situation, but unable to address why she was not picked up and offered to send someone to pick her up and take her to school!!! Excuse me, as working parents, we rely on this company to perform their duty obligations and show up on time or have some mechanism in order to address immediate contact! Their "Where's My Bus" app on schoolzone is ridiculous and does not reveal adequate times of pick up or will show a "skipped" pick up when in fact, the child has been picked up, or will show the driver all over the map and not taking the most appropriate routes to pick up children. When you think about it.... we have a young child, standing on the side of the road and in poor weather conditions, for anyone to abduct as these buses do not contact by telephone to report a delay or absence in pick up times, their drivers certainly do not report their tardiness or failed pick up to the head office, you cannot reach anyone in head office on a consistent basis, nor will they get to the matter and have their supervisor or manager call you back! And they would report to provide excellent service. I am sure their turnover with hiring and keeping sufficiently trained drivers is extremely high as this is my daughter's 6th driver and only 1 of those drivers were prompt and on time each pick up and drop off; however, they resigned after 2 weeks of providing us service and we were back to the failed system of delayed or non-pick up. I have yet to be contacted back by this company. My child has reported to me several times where a driver has stopped to personally pick up their own children who are not scheduled to be on the bus or one bus driver that continues to bring her crying infant on the bus and placed behind the driver. Well this driver, did eventually, get into a collision, and who could say why, but failing to adhere to company policy and procedures would be my first thought. So today, is Friday, January 11, 2019 and neither the school board personnel or Southland Transportation has contacted me back to address their poor service. My child continues to be late for school and is marked for her tardiness on a regular. I am so tired of having to call her school to report no bus pick up or she will be late to ensure these absences/lateness has a reasonable indication of why. That being said, I believe the above information will show you why you should think twice about using their service on a regular basis. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with when it comes to securing children's safety and as they have yet to address me with a telephone call with some suitable solution, I can only caution parents requiring "Yellow Bus" pick up or drop off of their children to think seriously about this, especially when winter temperatures are frigid and there may be poor driving conditions. Protect your children as it would appear that they will not, nor will they have a viable excuse for failure/breech of service, except for "sorry" coming from the personnel that picks up the telephone as they are at least a human being! read more
