Title: Poor Communication, Lack of Responsiveness, and Unprofessional Experience I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at South Lake Counseling, particularly regarding communications with therapist Alexia Manning and office manager Jessica Alvarez. I have been requesting a copy of my therapy session notes, which I am legally entitled to receive as part of my medical record. Despite multiple emails and calls explaining that the request was TIME SENSITIVE, I received no clear follow-up, no timeline, and no sense of urgency. I also reached out to the office manager, Jessica Alvarez, and received no response at all, which was very frustrating. To be clear, I was not asking for forms to be completed or changes to diagnoses -- only for my existing records. As a patient, delays in accessing my own medical documentation are extremely stressful and concerning. It also made me feel ignored and unimportant as a client. While my in-session interactions with Alexia were polite, the lack of follow-through has been unacceptable. South Lake Counseling has shown poor responsiveness, poor communication, and a lack of professionalism in handling a very basic and reasonable request. I hope the practice improves its administrative processes and communication, so future clients do not have to go through this. read more

Southlake counseling advertised their intensive DBT program as the most effective alternative to traditional outpatient therapy. We were concerned that our child was not a good fit for the program and was not yet prepared, and that his needs far outweighed the abilities of any outpatient treatment plan, but we were assured by SC that we needed to give this opportunity a chance for our child's well being and that we hurriedly needed to enroll in their $2800 program. We all agreed that it might not work and residential treatment may be needed, in which case we would get a full refund due to the complicated nature of our situation. Three weeks later, upon the advice of the facility, we placed our child in a full time, long term residential program. SC promised to liaise with the facility and follow up us regarding making sure his treatment team at the new facility was well informed, however SC stopped returning our phone calls and emails and did not refund our money as promised. We can't get ahold of anyone, but someone from the front desk does call me at work endlessly to ask for me to contact my insurance company because she filed the claims wrong, which is unbelievable on so many levels. Matt Causey is the employee we were promised would give us a full refund, he ignores our repeated attempts at contact, as does my son's former treatment team. If in fact, as they say, I paid for months of treatment and am not due a refund, where is the elite 24/7 service I was promised? It's been two months without a word! read more

I was disappointed at the front desk reception, and then by the energy and seeming lack of skills of the therapist. The whole experience felt a little unprofessional and a little awkward. It might be that we're in a smaller town and there's just not the quality of service is in a bigger city but I wouldn't come back here. read more

I wish I could give Southlake Counseling 10 STARS! I was very apprehensive about going to see a therapist due to past experiences. I was told Kimberly is so sweet and smart and the best. After a year of contemplating seeing her I finally made an appointment. She knows her stuff, makes you overcome anything and you have a great feeling when you leave her. She is very skilled and I love her! They also have some amazing, beneficial classes every week. Wendy is the leader of my weekly class now and she is great! I don't want to say too many good things because Kimberly is already booked up enough and I want room for my own appointments LOL read more

My daughter was seeing Wendyleigh - my daughter started an evening DBT group while seeing the therapist - my daughter benefits, greatly, from DBT - for various reasons, the therapist was not a good fit - my daughter was hesitant to change counselors, because she liked the group therapy and feared that she wouldn't be allowed to continue - a financial contract was signed that said she must be seeing a therapist at southlake, in order to be in the group - My daughter was just released from a 2 week hospital stay - it was at this point we chose to see another therapist - most important thing is for her to gain from therapy - because of this, she is not allowed to return to DBT - this is a very vulnerable time for her - I can understand not taking patients from the general public - but I feel contract or no contract my daughter was already in the group and the business priorities should be her continued support and well-being - I understand not being able to enroll in the next group session - however, I find it very concerning that they put policy over a teenage girl's needs - my daughter deserves someone who cares about her read more

My daughter was a patient at southlake - during that time, she started in an evening DBT group - we signed a contract that relayed that she must be a patient and we will pay no matter what - the money is not the issue - the issue is that the counselor at southlake was not a good fit for her - while my daughter did not feel she was connecting with the counselor's style, she feared that she would not be allowed to continue in the group - to my shock and dismay, she was right - I can respect not opening the group to the public - however, she was an existing patient - to boot her from the program puts profit over patient care - my daughter is struggling, immensely - DBT helps her build skills to help her cope - I am glad that I am aware of their priorities, but I hate that my daughter pays the price for the lack of genuine care for the patient read more
