You could probably spend a while here enjoying them all, possibly reading a free copy of the Daily Moral Outrage or choosing something to eat from the sticky menu . Depending on when you go. One of the hazards of a hotel bar is that they let children in (with their parents of course). In this case the parents were doing their best to ignore their obnoxious child, but his tactic of repeating what he said in an ever louder voice until they acknowledged him always worked eventually, by which time all in the proximity had suffered. I'm sure this is quite a nice place, possibly deserving of more than a 3but all I can remember is the devil child.

The midsized rooms nice but a bit tight for space, and the rooms smaller than 226 square feet are really a no-go for couples. There is parking in the forecourt, subject to availability, and a great breakfast for only £10. However, what this hotel really has going for it is location. Right across from Exeter Central and close to the shopping district.

Yes, the room was a little warm and some of the other guests were a little loud (I think there was a school party in!) but what the hotel could control was really good. I agree that the hotel feels a little dated, but the duty manager showed us around the impressively refurbished (but at the time unopened) restaurant and informed us that the third floor was also being done up. The breakfast spread is pretty impressive and I found every member of the team professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

The room was small but lovely, the bed was very comfortable and the tv had a decent number of channels for the short time I would be spending in the room. The location of the hotel itself is really good, near the Exeter St Davids station and not too far from the city centre. Breakfast was ok..I don't really like English breakfasts so I had to ask for certain things to be left off which they didn't always get right. The worst thing about my stay was the light coloured curtains. It was impossible to avoid the early morning sun pouring into the room and waking me up before 7am (fine on any other day, but not on holiday). The staff were friendly and If I come back to Exeter I might well stay here again.

Parking is limited, some at the back of the hotel approx 3 spaces + a garage, and some from 6pm 9am at the front. Usually, I managed to get a free space. There is also a lovely and well maintained pool, but sadly I never had the time nor the weather to check it out. Some rooms are better than others, and I stayed in most of them. Always had an en suite. Always clean and always a good supply of hot water. Sometimes tricky to lug your case up four flights to the top rooms after a long day. Good breakfast included in the price, wide range and always perfectly cooked. Would stay again.
