We stayed in the hotel Virginia for a week in August and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
The rooms are of an appalling standard, holes in the carpet, leaking showers, the shower curtains didn't even fit, the beds were that uncomfortable we actually ached in the morning.
One of the nights it was cold outside and the radiator didn't even work in our room, I spent the night under the covers freezing. The towels were only changed once a week which isn't a problem if you could dry them on the radiator, or if you didn't have to use two of them to dry the floor once we had showered.
The food was even worse, serving roast potatoes you could blind someone with, serving granulated gravy to paying guest, only having soup as a starter and only one type of soup per day, we complained about the soup being too salty only to have the reply it's just how it comes in the PACKET so they were serving paying guest the equivalent of a cup a soup and don't get me started on the rude waiting staff.
The coach excursion was a joke, we spent an hour in one place and then an hour and a half in the second, we actually spent longer on the coach than at the destinations. Only to be moaned at by the driver because we were 5 minutes late getting back on.
The owners are friendly and you do feel welcomed by the guests and I understand why people would want to stay there for that kind of welcome friendly atmosphere however a friendly face and a chatty owner cannot make up for the many flaws we found with the hotel.
This is not only the opinion of myself, there were 8 of us staying in the hotel and we had 4 rooms between us and all of them were of the same terrible standard.
To sum up if you are considering this hotel, please do not stay there. The only reason we didn't leave straight away was with so many of us, the cost of going to a new hotel at such short notice would have been far too much, so we had to put up with it for a week, we were all glad to leave that place.
DO NOT STAY THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. read more
