We were in room number 1 that overlooked the parking lot. The room itself is small yet equipped with a double bed, night tables, wardrobe, desk and chair. There's not a lot of room to move around... especially in the bathroom. I should note, there's no lift so if you've got a bit of luggage, consider staying on the first floor (which is only two flights of stairs). I will say, I was surprised by the breakfast which was included with our room. I expected a continental breakfast, which there was (and a quite extensive one at that) but it also included a full hot breakfast too. So while we ordered our Full English we were invited to help ourselves to the buffet. The selection was fresh and with such a wide variety, there was definitely something for everyone. I'm only knocking it down half a star because, even through I did book a compact room, it was way smaller than I had anticipated, however, the room was clean and the dining room, sunroom and pool area absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again... just in a bigger room. :) 4.5 stars.

The hotel is clean and bright. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but comfortable and decorated in cool, relaxing colors. Wifi works well, and breakfast was the best! There are many B & B's to choose from, but I think we really got lucky in choosing this one. The hotel is located about a five minute walk from the seaside and only five minutes to the old Abbey. The evening meals were not any better the prawn cocktail had hardly any prawns mostly it consistently of lettuce leaves we were told by our waitress that the people in the kitchen worked to photos of how the meals should look on the plates. One of our party had his meal on paper which dissolved when he was eating so he ended up eating the paper with his meal when we complained we were told it was company policy to do this unbelievable. Also there are prominent and large NO SMOKING signs in front of the hotel which is where everyone smokes. Consequently, the cigarette smoke and stink permeates into the hotel lobby. Also us nonsmoking customers have to hold our breath as we quickly try to dash through all that stink. Apparently smokers don't know how to read the NO SMOKING signs and the employees do absolutely nothing to enforce what is a law in the area. SHAME ON PREMIER INN MANAGEMENT!!!!! Probably the worst meal I've ever eaten in my life was in the restaurant ... SWEET POTATO FETA LASAGNA. More than 3/4 of the dish was solid cheese; the spinach was mixed in with all that cheese, the topping was all cheese ... cheese, cheese, cheese. Just looking at the dish caused my arteries to harden. Take it off the menu!!

Lino is bathroom is yellow where people have been walking on it and shower is powerless. Complimentary toiletries consist of a cheap wrapped bar of soap. All other 4* hotels I have ever been in have had at least a bottle of shampoo and shower gel. Tea tray is generously supplied with cheap tea and coffee no brand names here. Food is average can think of a 2* hotel I've stayed in where it's better. And beware Sid the manager never been on a customer service course in his life. Comes across authoritative, abrupt and at times belittling. Have given it 2* as it is clean and comfortable, and bar Sid all other staff seem very friendly and helpful.

I think it is an overstatement to say I am a fan…read more I'm dropping it star for the totally disgusting iron they supplied. I took it back to reception, and they immediately understood. A replacement came rather quickly which was good. Still slightly dirty, but not as bad as the previous one. The person delivering the iron said it was new and had been purchased in July 2016. OK. So it's the guest's fault. It took me about a minute to scrape the stuff stuck to the iron with a razor blade. If I can do that then surely the hotel can clean the iron. I just don't what goes through people's minds. Why on earth they thought first iron could be used is anyone's guess. The hotel is ideal for families. However, I cannot judge all of the facilities as we were only staying a night, and eating out. We used the pool, which the day before had had problems due to turning green (seems familiar given what happened in RIO). It was a cloudy blue when we used it. I did ask the attendant if there was a placing of towels in the mornings, and she said yes. Apparently, no generalisation can be assigned to the Germans. Seems the Brits have the bug too. Also tends to be fight for the parasols too. There is also an indoor pool, not used by us. The outside one didn't appear heated, but once in I felt OK, and so did the kids. I was not able to charge to my room as I was only staying one night, but they accepted my debit card, and, of course, cash. There was a late bar available near to the pool are until midnight. There is an "Aztec" games' area. The kids visited, and seemed happy. I wish I'd got the name of the person' name on reception as she was very helpful, and empathised about the iron. Not a cheap hotel. We got a family room with a double bed and two singles for £184 for the night, that included breakfast. The bathroom was quite small, but a strong force of water from the shower. I guess the bathroom was made small to accommodate the beds. Breakfast. Your table is reserved for you on a board, with your name, and number of guests. I thought this was quite good. No waiting. Usual breakfast buffet help yourself fare. There was also, upon request: porridge, boiled eggs, poached eggs, kippers, haddock, and warm croissants. Several toasting machines, and fruit juices, and cereal. I think there was something there for everyone. I don hate the type of Brit that piles there plate as though a famine is going to ensue, or even going up again for seconds. Sorry, for me, wrong message. Tattoos seem to be the new fashion accessory and there were plenty on display. Again, not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat. To sum up. Great for families, and ideally placed for Torquay centre. I was able to park on the front close to the reception, but there's plenty more at the back of the hotel. This hotel is part of a chain: Torquay Leisure Hotels, and also features: Victoria Derwent carlton Thoorak They also have self-catering apartments. I found the staff to be friendly.
