I stayed here at the end of August 2008 and have to say that the best thing about this hotel is the fabulous view over the bay - it is absolutely breathtaking.
It is only classified as a 3 star hotel, and I did find the room rates to be rather expensive considering. But worth the price for the views and the nice bar area.
On entering the hotel, the reception area does give off quite a feeling of grandeur, with a large staircase and large hallway, despite the fact that it is very old fashioned. There is a comfortable piano bar and verandah area where you can sit out and enjoy a drink whilst taking in the spectacular views of the bay. There is also an outdoor heated swimming pool with sun loungers around it, which was a little tatty in places, but was probably the warmest outdoor pool I've ever been in, it was almost like taking a bath! This was welcome as although it was August it was not a hot day at all! I did not notice the pool area getting crowded at any time.
Our room was fairly large which was a plus point, but I wasn't impressed with the furnishings as they were a little dreary and old fashioned. We had our breakfast delivered to the room for a small extra charge and it was a good hearty breakfast. The bathroom was nice, much more modern than the bedroom.
The staff were helpful and friendly, though we often had to wait for a drink as there was no member of staff permanently dealing with the bar. Recommended! read more
