I didn't get the exact details, but apparently they were changing their accounting system and somehow the statements were sent in error. She reversed the charge and refunded the payment. I have to say, the positive reviews here are nice for those that got that treatment. Here's my story. I was referred by my Realtor.. I was told not to worry about anything with my new house well here we go. The installation of the new septic tank is complete, but it left behind a serious mess that had to be corrected twice. Before we even discovered the full extent of the damage, the original installers had to come back out to "fix" things. In reality, they just threw some dirt around to cover it up and called it a day. Once properly inspected, we found the main irrigation pipe had been broken in three places, requiring full re-excavation of the area with a backhoe. Every irrigation line had to be cut and reassembled to get the system working again. Concrete edging was crushed, buried, or displaced and had to be removed completely. Excess soil from the excavation was dumped into nearby plant beds, which all had to be re-leveled. Worst of all, the backhoe bucket gouged the bark of a mature palm tree - an injury that could lead to disease and potentially kill the tree over time. read more

Technician Wizard Extraordinaire Carlos from Southern Sanitary Systems came out the same day I placed the call to replace our 3rd septic pump with a "proper" pump - yes size DOES matter ! And he repaired the buzzer to the external alarm, uncrossed wires which lead to the untimely pump failures, removed a root ball that was growing in the tank ,fixed the cover to the top on the pump tank so no more fumes leak out and a multitude of other tasks... WHEW! He wasn't annoyed by me standing by him and asking questions. Forthcoming with information which helped to educate me and reduce my stress... YAY! I have used blue septic systems in the past and I have had horrible experiences. The last time the guy left without even fully pumping because "he was told to leave it and go to another job"... what a difference! First of all, not only they were not late but actually they were early, called me 10 min away. Behave very professional. Explain to me everything he was doing and the expectations.. he used the water hose thoroughly to clean the best he could.. I was very very happy not only with how they performed, but also that I didn't have to run chasing him to finish pumping like with the other company. Highly recommended! read more

Our plumbing was backed up. Sewage was backing up into the tubs & showers. We called sanitary systems and Terry received our call. She was very empathetic and had Chris call me same day. He was kind enough to fit us into his schedule same day. He noted our systems access was blocked by pavers and was kind enough to help me remove them. He checked the inlets and baffles. Dan the guy who came to pump the septic system was super nice and helpful. My sister-in-law owns the house and after doing a load of laundry the system backed up into her tub and shower. I thought the system may need to be pumped only to find out after Dan visited the property, that the line needs unclogging. Dan is an honest guy who was super helpful. He also suggested putting in a clean out and replace the piece of cast Iron, Chris is a co-worker who will be reaching out to us to quote the job. One day, mid tropical storm, my toilets stopped flushing. They would fill up completely to the top with water and wouldn't go down for hours. I called Southern Sanitary on a recommendation. They came a few days later to pump my tank. The gentleman that came pumped only one side of the dual tank. When I asked him about this, he said I only had one side. Um, ok. I was pretty sure I had a dual tank but he poo pooed me. I don't know if this was laziness or lack of experience, regardless the pump was also incomplete, leaving a relatively large amount of scum and solids at the bottom of the tank that he said he just couldn't get. He replaced the lid, he did not clear the dirt from around it, placing the lid on top of the dirt. His idea of a seal was to sprinkle the concrete powder around the edges like salt and then sprinkle water, rather than clear the dirt away and mix the concrete it properly in a bucket and then seal the lid completely. This, of course, allowed rain water to pour in around the lid so in addition to the water he left in the other half of the tank, I had to call them again a mere few weeks later. I left a message saying I was having the same problem, toilets filling completely with water and the water doesn't drain for hours. The woman who returned my phone call, upon hearing my explanation said "well that's how toilets work, hon, they fill with water." I almost fell off my couch! Then she insisted it was pipe, call a plumber. Certainly couldn't be my tank b/c it had just been pumped. I told her I knew it was a drainfield issue. Once I mentioned the word drainfield, she suddenly became very receptive to sending someone over to give me a quote. I can only imagine it was the dollar signs that brought the attitude change. Thankfully her diagnostic abilities are limited to sewage. Avoid them if you can. Customer service is rude and they charge full price for an incomplete/shotty job. read more

I used this company 10/13/17 to pump septic as a maintenance call. New septic was installed on 2011 from this company. Today we have waited over 3hrs for a return call for plumbing issue before writing review. I paid for a plumber to come out who promptly called back and came within 1hr to dig around top of tank to show us it was full, plumber was paid for his service to show us tank is full surprising after was pumped 10/13/17 Will write a follow up review tomorrow with rate of service for resolution of such an inconvenience and lack of professionalism and extremely costly experiences with this company read more

After having our drain field re-done by another company, we had to have a lift station pump installed which Southern did excellently, finally resolving ongoing problems with our septic system; and they did it at a much better price than the other quote. Not to "bad mouth" the other company - septic functionality is a challenge in this area to say the least. We had an issue which could have been misinterpreted as the need to pump the tank but we called Southern and they came and took care of it right away - it turned out to be an electrical short somewhere causing the ground fault to interrupt power to the tank. Thanks to the supportive expertise of this company our system is still working perfectly. Unless you are blessed with county sewer service, this company is highly recommended as a valuable resource. I live in Bradenton and have a lift pump on my property. Of course it failed Friday afternoon. I have been keeping it working the past 9 months on my own. Well no one else would be able to come until mid next week. They were able to replace my control panel, lift pump and pipes in about 2.5 hours. They changed a fair price for emergencies on a Friday but it was worth it. I don't want to be working in that septic tank LOL. I would recommend them. read more

Had them replace my septic and drainfield, said they would make everything look like it was before they dug up my front yard. They left it looking like I own beachfront property. They filled it in with SAND not even the dark soil they took out. Nothing will grow. Tried calling over and over and no one will get back to me. read more

These people seem to know what they are doing but they do not communicate. I had to call them every step of the way. Will you come? Will you send me a quote? Did you receive my deposit? When will you schedule. They never called me. They did do the job and all is well, but if you are looking for any type of customer service this company is not for you. Unfortunately, when purchasing a home in the sarasota area this company was selected to do the inspection of my septic tank. Septic Tank was in good condition and I was told it was a 1024 tank. To my knowledge afterwards the 4 bedroom home needs a bigger septic tank and upon CALLING another company they informed me that this company didnt do the proper research on the septic. The company I called (DIFFERENT THAN SOUTHERN SANITARY), sent me the records that showed this as a bigger septic and this was NOT a 1024 tank. Very stressful, no help whatsover from the company, standoffish and didnt help the least bit. Didnt make the effort to help research this, or offer to send anyone out. I WOULD 150 PERCENT NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE INVESTING MONEY INTO A HOME. read more

I had Southern Sanitary Systems come out and pump a septic tank in a tenant house. He arrived on time and did a good pumping job. He noticed the tank was overflowing and there was a puddle in the yard. He informed me that I needed a new drain field. We've had tons of rain and the ground it saturated. I called the company to pay them with my credit card. When I told them about the problem, they said they would have someone come out and give me an estimate. That happened but it was over $7000. I called them and asked the estimator to call me to discuss other alternatives. He never called. Not returning calls seems to be the norm for this company. I won't be back. read more
