We were in the area and decided to stop by. The parking is extremely small so we parked at the grocery store and walked. The place is not to big but they have a lot. They also had a sale rack for kids clothes and I found really good sweaters for a great price at the clearance rack. The guy who rang us up was Will he had extremely great customer service. He was nice asked us if we found everything we needed. He was just great. Overall good experience.

This Goodwill location can be great or just okay depending on what you are looking for. They typically have a decent selection of electronics and tech items, ranging from Xbox 360 controllers to retro portable TVs, that tends to rotate on a fairly consistent basis. I have personally scored near-mint condition Xbox controllers for $7.50 (online value $25) and an Xbox 360 Kinect sensor and cable for just $5.99. They also carry a large selection of movies/tv shows on Blu-Ray, DVD, and VHS which can be perfect if you're looking to pick up a cheap classic or expand your film library. That being said, they way this Goodwill location sticks it's video games is far from ideal. It would appear that they only ever put out around 20 games at a time, regardless of how much space is available in the shelf or how many games they actually have. New games only really get added when one's already on the shelf have sold. In theory this is a fine idea, but the reality is that there are some games that nobody really wants, making the turnover rate very slow with copies of Just Dance 2015 and Pocket Bible clogging up the shelves, stopping actual games from being made available. The staff is incredibly friendly for the most part, both good at their jobs and pleasant to talk to while checking out. A good experience of you know what you are looking for.

Only a few weeks away from Xmas and I've decided to check out Ashland's Goodwill Store. A small section of household goods such as glasses, kitchen wares. The majority of the space is clothing. A very small area with shoes. I was actually surprised to see the enormous amount of Xmas decorations. Not having grown up in the USA I ask myself: do people really buy new stuff every year? By the look of this I'm thinking they might do. This goodwill store is great for those who are interested in clothing. I'm glad I got to explore this a bit, it's not really for me but I'm sure it serves an excellent purpose to some.

And, again pleasantly surprised, there was another store I have not spotted from the car. Between the coffee place and the shop on the corner is another store, I think, is an absolute must when visiting this part of town. For those who visit this might be a little 'off the beaten track.' Most people might go straight to Main Street and end up on "The Plaza,' but there's more to charming Ashland. I have a feeling one should almost be 'in the know' to end up on 4th street. Hence the face I'll review a few stores on this street. Being half Asian (Balinese to be precise) I was delighted to see 'Old World Artifacts, a name fitting to this store. It's like stepping into a different world, different south East Asian cultures combined with local art. Should you be in the area, I can highly recommend you to pay this store a visit. The owner, Franklin, is friendly and welcoming. No snobbish attitude I have often found in similar stores. Instead a man who loves to talk about his favorite places to visit and makes you feel at ease. My photographs will -hopefully- give an impression of the inventory of "Old World Artifacts." There's a plethora of artifacts from different Asian cultures. It feels like so much has been hand selected by Franklin on his travels. I heard him about Cambodia where he rode the bicycle; drop by to chat with this well-traveled man if you're interested in traveling to that part of the world and see what the culture has to offer. Not only Asian artifacts are for sale. When I walked in my eye instantly caught incredible art on the wall. It turns out thus is from local artist, Kat McIver. There's something deeply touching about her sculptures, they're all very different and I have added some pictures. I was told this artist works one day a week in this store. I saw big Buddha statues with a hefty price tag, which is totally justifiable and understandable knowing where it comes from. Having said that, I also saw rugs from turkey at a really great price for a good quality Turkish rug ($195 for a real Turkish rug is a steal). Being half Asian, half Dutch I'm aware of the prices of these rugs and I paid a lot more when living back home in Amsterdam. A set of locally made cards of $4. In other words: there's something for every budget. That's something I think is -especially in these times- a good thing. This store has only been open since October last year, so not too long. I will definitely be back on a regular base.

Then the last time i complained was told " we go by the rules that lowes goes by which when i contacted lowes, they said Dd-214 of course ,just like the DMV or any other government agency, well maybe I don't want to pay the damned DMV the $70 or whatever it costs to have it on my liscence or my plates! I see people regularly saying im a vet offering zero proof get their discount there while buying a few screws but someone who's spends thousands annually offering a dd214 with matching odl gets ZERO discount! Complete and udder BULLSHIT in my book and most other folks books as well , because I complained the once chatty kathy manager (Scott) no longer even offers a hello goodbye or get f***** comment to me at all. I have done my due diligence trying to politely inform them of what a dd-214 is to no avail. I have given up on even making any further comment whatsoever whilst others in line before me say "im a vet " offering zero proof get their discount with a smile and a thank you for your service , i then get the "oh this f****** guy look" like im trying to pull a fast one over them for offering the only Goddamned proof in the entire f****** world of military service and it ain't good enough! Don't take this the wrong way. There are many employees there that go out of their way to help me and have been outstanding in every Way Possible (rabbit, juan and his brother ,veronica or melany I forget her name sometimes but she knows who she is and i cannot forget to mention john! All outstanding people and that's what keeps me coming back are those folks who sit out side of the mental wrangling of dd214s and military service awards.
