Southern Methodist University Stadium sits right off in a very beautiful area. Practice field just before the SMU Stadium.

My son earned a MBA on an accelerated program here completing it in one year. He enjoyed the program and the challenge of getting two years of work done in one year. The graduation was wonderful. The campus is beautiful with plenty of parking and free space. Everyone we ran into was very helpful and even would run up into a building to check things for us as I was pushing a wheel chair. Wonder place - go mustang

A neatly manicured, and spacious university. The classical architecture seemed to be appreciated by all the visitors I saw. The only downside is parking can be hard to find. Burleson Park has plenty and it's free, it leaves you close to the campus for walking around.

Pros: Beautiful Campus Human Rights Program (Minor, w/Major in the works) Cute but deadly mascot named Peruna Improving Football Team Improving Basketball Team Main library has 24/7 Library Hours (part of the year/SMU ID needed at night) Pretty low crime rate Student Mass Transit Pass that covers the whole metroplex for only $5 Great recreation center complete with requisite 2&1/2 story climbing wall Meadows Museum (SMU students get in free) Tate Lecture Series Decent food Student Health Center Hunt Institute for Engineering & Humanity Pretty good recycling program on campus Excellent Journalism faculty Cons: Tuition = Cha-ching [main reason for no 5th star] 24/7 Library Hours are not year round (would be useful during accelerated Summer classes) Parking permits are expensive No direct weekend mass transit service (it is a hike to the light rail station) Not all residence halls have elevators Reputation as Southern Millionaires University not totally undeserved Writing Lab/Testing Center not centrally located Can be clique-ish at times. [More students should mix with others who do not share their major &/or their Greek letters.] Current total "Reading Days" per academic year = 1 Other things to know: Religiously diverse & Methodists are a minority, except at Perkins (theology grad school) where Methodists are not a minority Politically skewed to the right, but active group of College Democrats Ethnic diversity is increasing Limited number of non-traditional age students Fountains - lots of fountains with at least one more currently under construction The Board of Trustees meetings are closed doors affairs

What can I say? I go here, of course it gets five stars! Beautiful campus, knowledgable professors, great amenities, great social life (lots of events going on throughout the year), shallow people, not-so-shallow people, the meadows anyone? Anyway, the list goes on and on. So far so good.

My alma matter, my second home, and the place I grew up the most at. I didn't know SMU was in Dallas until someone contacted a professor at my previous college requesting to meet me and inviting me to visit the campus. I went and I loved it. Just walking around campus made me feel much better and anytime I felt stressed, I would take a long walk around campus. I will say that tuition is pricey but I'm glad I proved that I was meant to be at SMU because my tuition was taken care of after my first year. I also love how organized this school is. I met many people, made a few friends, and was inspired by a handful of people. I didn't fit in with many groups but I'm glad I didn't because that's what made me get to know those that stuck around and actually cared the most. I was able to meet and make many connections through some of my professors who for some reason liked me and tried to help me as much as they could. I was able to attend many great events and meet other great people there too. I learned so much from my lessons here than at any other school I've been to. Pony Up!

Last I remember they changed their name to Alterius, I was even given a tshirt from the school when the name changed. And the "Alterius"Campus closed around 2018/2019 in Arlington. I know one of the last schools was in Florida which closed a few months back. If anyone has had any luck please share a review. I will attempt to update once I hear back from the Texas Higher Education Agency to help anyone else having this problem. Update 5/29/2024: I've contacted Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) I've emailed them multiple times, no luck and according to the company reviews others are having the same problem. I somehow came across a fillable form that lists All of the Everest/Alterius Colleges in DFW (as well as ITT Tech and multiple other schools scattered across DFW and its outskirts) in a drop down box do the news is promising. I'll update with news later Access the form here (fingers crossed): https://forms.thecb.state.tx.us/forms/TranscriptRequest Update 5/29/2024 the method using the link above works. First day of my new class I loved the instructor she taught us everything we needed to know such as how to take vital signs, and also how to do injections! In just 2 weeks I already knew how to do all that! By the end of my 2nd Mod I had already became CPR certified!!! I started in February, and I'm already on going to my 4th mod! I'm half way done with my course! Some say that Everest is a scam because of the Government but not this one! This is the only school that's been bought by the Zenith Program so this school happens to be one of the most fantastic school I have been too! Everyone is super friendly, teachers know what they are talking about, and they are serious about your education too!

Every single canvas here could have gone home with me and I'd have been thrilled. The collection is so fresh and contemporary, it actually made me want to start five projects at once. They don't have a ton of large-format canvases, but there are some. Personally, I just wrapped up a belt project that took me...wait for it...20 years. Yes, two decades. I like to think of it as slow stitching, not procrastination. After finally finishing, over the past 6 or so months, I searched and searched for my next project and am a little bummed I didn't find this shop sooner. Turns out they weren't on Yelp. I actually stumbled upon them on TikTok, and in true enabler fashion, I set them up on Yelp myself. I had already bought my next canvases online, so when I came in I only needed all the fun extras to get started. Alice, who helped me, was fantastic. She set me up with the perfect thread colors, a needle minder, needles, stretcher bars and pins, and even a stitch book. Basically, she made sure I had everything except the snacks to sustain me through my next marathon project. And get this, they have in store classes too (check the website)! I'm absolutely psyched to go, because I could use a few tips to shorten my average project timeline from 20 years to less than 10. This place is such a great find. Whether you're brand new and "needlepoint curious" or a long-hauler like me, stop here first. You'll walk out happy, inspired, and probably with way more goodies than you planned. We came in expecting a supportive and understanding environment, and instead left feeling confused, judged, and honestly a bit shocked. After just a trial day, I was told my child was not invited back -- with very little clear explanation. For a school that specializes in children who may need time to adjust, this felt extremely premature and contradictory to what they advertise. Children with communication challenges don't always show their best on day one -- that's exactly why families seek out schools like this. What was most concerning was the lack of professionalism and communication. When my child was struggling to express something on the playground, I experienced a moment from a staff member that felt dismissive -- including an eye roll -- rather than supportive or patient. As a parent, that is incredibly unsettling, especially in a school that is supposed to be equipped to handle communication challenges with care and understanding. Instead of guidance or collaboration, I was left with more questions than answers. If this school is truly designed to support children with different learning needs, there should be more patience, clearer communication, and a willingness to work with families -- especially on a first visit. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the inclusive and supportive environment that is promoted. I would not recommend based on our experience.

We have been at the school for going on six years now and you cannot put a price on the confidence the education and happiness this son has helped and still and my son. If I could give 100 stars I would, there actually is not enough stars to grade how amazing this school is. I read the review above stating that the principal is a bully I'm sorry that that person had an experience in that manner. In the six years I have gone there I have not heard anyone else complain about that problem and frankly feel that it is false. Many many would agree that Oakhill and their staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone involved in your child's education and happiness is on your team. I am a single mother and father is not in the picture. I have not once felt judged or looked down upon. In fact I have never felt more comfortable and confident in my life knowing Oakhill is in our lives. Thank you Oakhill and Staff for helping me educate and raise such a smart sweet boy. We have gone to the best and we have researched it all. Oakhill Is not just a place for education, it is also a place that we call home. If you are so blessed to have a child that would need the type of education Oakhill provides then you would be doing your child and yourself a disservice if you didn't give them a try to see what options are needed for your child. Thank you again Oakhill for changing and saving our lives.
