The environment of the school is very clique-y and it is quite visibly noted during lunch where mostly white students (with some exceptions) eat at the student center while black and Hispanics tend to drift in the cafeteria, why this is I will never understand. Staff doesn't really mind the cliques and in some cases it seems they promote it. Hm... My biggest issue with this institution is the staff. Most of the staff here is very prissy, rude and unprofessional. If you need something from them I advice you to send them a notice 2 years prior because unless someone is dying or it benefits them, they really don't care. Combined, that gives me 8 years of firsthand experience with the school. In October 2021, my black daughter was called the n-word by a white student. Simply because he…read morethought it would be funny and embarrassing to do so. My daughter acted immediately to inform the AP and share her witnesses. Once home she also informed her parents. However, I was never notified by the school. The next morning I arrived to talk to the AP who acknowledged his error in not informing us (however, this lack of communication continued as I had to consistently follow-up). The AP shared my daughters account of the situation was accurate. I stated given the hateful nature of intimidation and bullying, the child should be removed from my daughters classes as well as receive out of school suspension. Neither occurred. The overarching theme in the handling of this has been to dismiss and ignore. The messaging to my daughter and our family has been- its okay. As an adult female who has lived in several parts of the country I have NEVER had this experience- yet, while at HPMS, my 13 yr old daughter has. For the record, this behavior is UNACCEPTABLE. Given the lack of response and concern, this behavior will not only continue at HPMS but fester. It is apparent the safety of their students- both mentally and physically- is not a priority and I will be removing my daughter from the district.

An admissions team member came out and basically gave us the tour on a map while outlining our walk. Seriously. She spent a solid 30-45 minutes with us and gave us food for thought (comparing TCU and SMU). Campus folks were friendly too as we were wandering. Very impressed by libraries, museums, and construction on the business school.

Southern Methodist University is such a gorgeous campus!…read more I went to visit the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, which happens to be a part of this campus. I had missed turning into the parking lot across from the museum and went around the block. I'm so glad that I did. After my visit to the museum, I did a quick tour of the campus before heading out for lunch. I love the wide pathways as you move from one building to the next. The architecture is beautiful and stunning. I loved the status of horses and Blanton Student Services Building. I am always inspired when I set foot on any campus. I will always be a student at heart, but I need to put my money towards my food love for now instead of a PhD! (23)
