Every single canvas here could have gone home with me and I'd have been thrilled. The collection is so fresh and contemporary, it actually made me want to start five projects at once. They don't have a ton of large-format canvases, but there are some. Personally, I just wrapped up a belt project that took me...wait for it...20 years. Yes, two decades. I like to think of it as slow stitching, not procrastination. After finally finishing, over the past 6 or so months, I searched and searched for my next project and am a little bummed I didn't find this shop sooner. Turns out they weren't on Yelp. I actually stumbled upon them on TikTok, and in true enabler fashion, I set them up on Yelp myself. I had already bought my next canvases online, so when I came in I only needed all the fun extras to get started. Alice, who helped me, was fantastic. She set me up with the perfect thread colors, a needle minder, needles, stretcher bars and pins, and even a stitch book. Basically, she made sure I had everything except the snacks to sustain me through my next marathon project. And get this, they have in store classes too (check the website)! I'm absolutely psyched to go, because I could use a few tips to shorten my average project timeline from 20 years to less than 10. This place is such a great find. Whether you're brand new and "needlepoint curious" or a long-hauler like me, stop here first. You'll walk out happy, inspired, and probably with way more goodies than you planned. This place was literally the highlight of my week!!!

They don't greet you, don't offer help & seemed bothered when I have a question. No customer service etiquette. Essentially, they are aloof & rude. The older women are better but can also use a refresher in customer service. Needlepointing should be fun, they need to remember that while working. They're not solving worlds problems in there - be nicer!!

I had a very disappointing experience with Oak Hill Academy, especially considering how strongly…read morethe school markets itself as a place for children with speech delays, ADHD, and other learning differences. We came in expecting a supportive and understanding environment, and instead left feeling confused, judged, and honestly a bit shocked. After just a trial day, I was told my child was not invited back -- with very little clear explanation. For a school that specializes in children who may need time to adjust, this felt extremely premature and contradictory to what they advertise. Children with communication challenges don't always show their best on day one -- that's exactly why families seek out schools like this. What was most concerning was the lack of professionalism and communication. When my child was struggling to express something on the playground, I experienced a moment from a staff member that felt dismissive -- including an eye roll -- rather than supportive or patient. As a parent, that is incredibly unsettling, especially in a school that is supposed to be equipped to handle communication challenges with care and understanding. Instead of guidance or collaboration, I was left with more questions than answers. If this school is truly designed to support children with different learning needs, there should be more patience, clearer communication, and a willingness to work with families -- especially on a first visit. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the inclusive and supportive environment that is promoted. I would not recommend based on our experience.

We were at a very well known school that unfortunately would not continue to educate my son and less I medicated him. Him only being in kindergarten that was not an option at the time for us. OakHill not only helped my son learn to read but now has made it where reading is one of his favorite past times. The teachers are wonderful and truly care about the students along with the principal and all staff members. We have been at the school for going on six years now and you cannot put a price on the confidence the education and happiness this son has helped and still and my son. If I could give 100 stars I would, there actually is not enough stars to grade how amazing this school is. I read the review above stating that the principal is a bully I'm sorry that that person had an experience in that manner. In the six years I have gone there I have not heard anyone else complain about that problem and frankly feel that it is false. Many many would agree that Oakhill and their staff go above and beyond to make sure everyone involved in your child's education and happiness is on your team. I am a single mother and father is not in the picture. I have not once felt judged or looked down upon. In fact I have never felt more comfortable and confident in my life knowing Oakhill is in our lives. Thank you Oakhill and Staff for helping me educate and raise such a smart sweet boy. We have gone to the best and we have researched it all. Oakhill Is not just a place for education, it is also a place that we call home. If you are so blessed to have a child that would need the type of education Oakhill provides then you would be doing your child and yourself a disservice if you didn't give them a try to see what options are needed for your child. Thank you again Oakhill for changing and saving our lives.

They leaned all their weight against the babies when washing their faces in the sink (which can injure their organs), lifted them by one arm (which can dislocate their shoulder), grabbed them aggressively, shoved food in their mouths aggressively, made them stay in their cribs for several hours, yelled at them for wanting to get up or for crying, swaddled them when that's against the law in daycare, and spent a lot of time texting & talking on their phones instead of watching the babies. The Lead Teacher in the Toddler Room was very impatient & squeezed their shoulders when they didn't obey, instead of using redirection. I explained these things to the director, but she said, "It's going to be a lot of work to replace those teachers." I later asked her what she was going to do about the incidents & she said her lawyer told her not to talk to me about it, so I reported the incidents to Child Care Licensing. They visited the school, but weren't able to do anything because I didn't have pictures or videos. I asked the director to install cameras, but she said no. Something must be done to bring awareness to the parents. Those lead teachers are still there & the director doesn't want to make the effort to replace them.

I've also visited multiple Aveda Institutes over the years in different cities--New York, Mason (Ohio), and East Lansing (Michigan)--and the consistency is exactly why I keep coming back. You truly can't beat the price for the quality of service you receive. The students are professional, attentive, and clearly well-trained, and the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. They've been in the industry for years and are always present, offering guidance, stepping in when needed, and making adjustments to ensure the client is happy with the final result. I've always felt listened to and well taken care of. One thing to keep in mind--this comes with any hair school--is timing. If you're booking color or more involved services, plan accordingly. Appointments can take a while, so I recommend clearing your schedule and expecting to be there at least half a day (sometimes longer). It's well worth it if you plan ahead. I would 1000% return and will continue coming back. Between the great experiences, amazing value, and the Aveda products, scents, and services they offer, this place is truly a gem.
