I called Arbor Oaks Tree Professionals based on an advertisement from one of the circulars we get…read moreevery week. I called to inquire about a big maple in our back yard that had not leafed out. John, the owner, came out the next day and took a look at the tree - turns out it had an incurable fungal disease and needed to come down. After discussing the process by which this would take place, we also looked at the other trees in the yard. Most were OK, but each had its small issues that could be remediated with the help of a professional. One, for example, was infiltrated by a neighbor's tree and needed help reaching the sun. Another had girdling roots, and all needed to be cleaned up and shaped. Additionally all needed the root collars exposed from the sod that had grown around over the years. John was able to get a crew here the very next day to work on taking the big maple down and clean up the trees. The crew arrived at 10, not too early but right on time, and worked diligently all day. By the end of the day, the 35-foot maple was in pieces on the truck, with no damage to surrounding trees, our lawn, or our brand-new patio wall or bricks. The other trees were pruned and shaped as well. The original schedule was for the stumps to be ground the next day, along with the root collar exposure via a tool called an "air spade" but mechanical difficulties prevented that from immediately happening. Nonetheless, John and Mike were on top of communicating with me and I never felt like they were going to abandon the job halfway done. Mike was able to come out mid-week and grind the maple stump, plus a cedar stump in the front yard that had been left over from previous work. Just yesterday he was able to come back with the air spade and clear around the root collars, prompting this review. I will say that in every way Arbor Oaks Tree Professionals more than met the standard of the "Professional" in their name. The price for the entire job was in line with expectations, and perhaps even a bit below what I thought it might cost. John didn't try to upsell me on things I didn't need, but explained the benefits of each procedure. The actual work done by the crew and also by Mike in the stump grinding and air spade work was also first-rate. Moreover, everyone was very polite and friendly, and I had great conversations with each crew about how things were going. I also feel like I learned a lot about tree maintenance and care, and will follow the recommendations to keep the trees as healthy as possible. We are more than pleased with the quality of the job, and highly recommend Arbor Oaks Tree Professionals to anyone who needs tree maintenance in the Austin area.

At noon on a Thursday, we called Affordable Lawn Maintenance (ALM) to see if we could get some help…read morewith our overgrown acre lot. The recent rains had our weeds sprouting up like, well, you know, and being busy professionals ourselves, we just didn't have the time to keep up with it. The by-phone estimate for 43,560 square feet of yard was $100. Within 2 hours of our call, a team of 3 fully equipped lawn ninjas were relayed to our property. Due to the deplorable condition of our yard (lots of 2 foot high weeds - yikes- plus a huge hill to mow & weed-eat), the estimate grew to $175, which we were happy to pay to get the yard back under control. Within 90 minutes after *that*, our huge yard had been completely transformed: all grass cut to golf course specs, 200 ft concrete driveway edged, weed-eating done around 20+ trees and the pool fence, steep hillside trimmed perfectly, cuttings mulched back into the lawn. Holy cow! I am impressed. Your experience may vary, but we were lucky to call on the day for which ALM happened to be in our part of town, so we received same day service. What a relief to find a lawn service that is so prompt, thorough, and reliable. Our neighbors will be happy to know that we will now be on the regular biweekly rotation for ALM.

They come out about evert two weeks in the spring and early summer and less often in the winter as well as dormant times in the late dry summers. My only complaint has been their use of a weed eater to trim bushes. It spew bush material all over the house walls and windows. However, once I mentioned that, they changed their method, so I don't ding them for that. Overall, I consider them honest and reliable. I would recommend.

I live on a heavily wooded acre on the west side of Austin and the storm did some significant damage to my forest and mature oaks. I knew clean up was going to be major and definitely wanted a tree company that was bonded, insured and knew how to trim/cut oaks. Four seasons gave one of the more expensive quotes but definitely worth it. They got up high in the canopy, trimmed the broken limbs, cleared my canyon to mitigate fire risk this summer. They took two days and did the job.

Once removed, I had un-manicured areas with no grass. I hired John to put metal edging in where the grass ended and to fill a huge amount of yard with river rock. I also had a entry pathway edged with limestone border rock/mortar and more river rock. I expected this to be a one-day job, but it turned into a three day job. They had some labor challenges as some personal things came up with some of their staff, but John's other half Max was incredible, the guy worked so hard and did a lot of personal and unnecessary things to improve the appeal of the yard even more, including making a bench out of stone. John and Max hustled, even finishing up on a weekend to meet our deadline with short staff. The price paid for the work done was of great value.
