I was their first participant and Ms. Nikki made me feel so welcomed. I love how the bookshelves are arranged with the new books in front and as you walk through the building they're sectioned off with various fiction, sci-fi, nonfiction, children's, religion, and suspense books. Plus they have a sign that tells you the prices for used hardback and paperback books. The new books are pricier but I know they're worth it at least for me. This was a real treat to check out.

Good Books in the Woods in a used bookstore in a house in The Woodlands. Watch your step as you explore because several time I stepped off a small step too hard because I was looking around in awe and not watching where I was walking. I was immediately greeted when I walked in and the man working at the desk made some light conversation when I was checking out. They have a lot of books and they're organized pretty well. The selection didn't have much of a variety as far as what I was looking for (classics and some newer - in the past 5 yrs - titles) but I'm sure it's probably a good selection to others. The pricing matches the name of the store, I suppose. They are priced better than buying a brand new book, but they're not as cheap as buying used books from a second-hand store or a warehouse sale. It's also odd that two of the same used books will go for the exact same price when one has writing in it and the other doesn't. I'd imagine it should be cheaper. Based on some other reviews, for the amount people get for selling their books here, the resale price shouldn't be as high as it is.

It was incredibly crowded and the books being sold kept piling up. I could tell the employees were overwhelmed, but despite their stress they were still kind to me. They didn't make me feel like a burden for adding to their workload and they were honest about how long it would likely take. I ended up waiting in the store for around 2 hours (which is the longest I've ever waited to sell my books). However, the store is huge and there are so many things to look at! I ended up finding a gift for my brother and a birthday card for my mom! And then, when they called me back they offered me around $45 for all my books! If you've ever sold books or clothes to thrift stores or Half Price Books, you know that's a great offer (especially because I only brought in a box). I brought in a lot of popular books in near perfect condition, as well as a few educational reads from a physics class I took in college. All in all, I love Half Price Books! There are always so many awesome books and items to discover on the shelves, especially at this location. If you're looking for your next favorite book, to sell your old books, a copy of something for school, a new board game, a record, or so many things in between, I would highly recommend Half Price Books!

The level of customer service that I received here has been unmatched- I appreciate their attentiveness to their inventory, too. The store owner was kind enough to remember what I had been looking for initially, and also took the time to reach out to let me know when the item was available many months later. For me, there are stores that I have visited that specialize in a similar trade but this one in Katy is preferable over the equivalent vintage/antique stores in either NYC or LA. More to the point: this is the only shoppe in four states, two countries, and the whole of the world wide web that was able to locate my unicorn-like item that I have been hunting for, for years- and I'm not being hyperbolic when I write "years." You don't have to actually visit the store, I didn't, but the exchange is just as personable as if you are there in-person and shaking the store owners' hands as they hand you your shopping bag.
