So while my wife and I were at market days today, we decided to give it another try. She ordered a cheese burger which was a prepackaged, gray mystery meat. There was so much cheese and grease that the bun was mush. We decided to bring home "the patty" for our dog. Upon cutting it up for him, I found a plastic bag clip between the cheese and "the patty " right in the MIDDLE of the burger. This was no coincidence because of where it was placed and covered with the cheese. Just a warning be careful..

My table ordered two appetizers: fried okra and onion rings. I am not a fan of okra...ever. THIS okra, however, was actually more than tolerable. I found myself going back for more. The onion rings were also tasty and not a pain to eat as the onion didn't slip out with the first bite. For my entree, I ordered the fried catfish with tartar sauce and a side of coleslaw. The catfish was fried to perfection. Seriously. So tender. And the tartar sauce was bangin'! The coleslaw was a little on the sweet side, but that's how it's preferred by many. I will definitely be returning when I am back in town!

Bbq beef plate was just shaved beef with lettuce and tomato. $11. My $16 club was decent. Turkey tasted like deli meat. Children's chicken finger plate was $8 and he got one singular chicken finger. I know sometimes they go off weight but that was a little absurd. Overall, we would not travel off of 75 to return here but if you're in the area I think it could be worth another try.

Walking in, the place has a good ambiance. It had pictures of celebrities on one wall. It had a cool enough barbecue shack type vibe. I mean this in a positive way. My server, Kenzie, was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly and professional and definitely enhanced my overall dining experience. I went with a large pulled pork sandwich on garlic bread. The sandwich was pretty stellar. Kenzie brought me some of their spicy barbecue sauce, which was also very good. Derrick's Barbecue is definitely a great choice for barbecue in Live Oak, Florida.
