The tasting room is attractive and features an award wall that inspires confidence in sampling the distilled spirits. The staff are very friendly and generous with their pours. I was impressed with their product and we had a good time comparing the different releases. My friend snagged his free birthday vodka, and we got a tour of the production facility! A great day at the HCD! Go, you will like it a lot!

They've got picnic tables outside where it's great to just enjoy nature before heading inside. You're immediately greeted by some of the nicest folks around who seem genuinely happy you're there. Everyone was so nice, helpful, and happy. It seems like a real nice family run place. The tasting and tours are free and they are very knowledgable and helpful. When the woman doing our tasting didn't know the answers to some of my questions, she immediately got ahold of someone who did. Everything was good, but my favourites were there two bourbons. I love that you can buy barrel strength bottles of their whiskies, and i took several home!

I have to say that this place just added to the great experience in Edgefield. The lady that did the tasting was an absolute joy. Everything we tasted was great and I found some new favorites. This is worth the drive to Edgefield if you are anywhere in the area. Tasting are free and you can purchase bottles of anything you like to go or shop where ever you want. The store is an old downtown storefront, which created a great environment to try all these great whiskies. Do yourself a favor and make a stop here.

All those flavored options just left me shruggin' my shoulders. If you need some high test stuff for a recipe or just a boring weekend, well they have the cure at 119 proof! Hell, it's known to make rabbits rabid. Their Tequila would have made the trip back to Florida too but they are still maneuvering the red tape tangles of gov-ment on some labeling issue. Sorry guys, next time! As a bonus, for you historian types, the two gals outside the shop selling honey and such can give you the low down on their local politics back to the 1800's. They got's some juicy stuff to share too. In particular how this distillery managed to legally locate only 1 block away from the courthouse. Truly a quaint little town Edgefield is, we really thought there should be a "Sac-O-Suds" grocery just outside of downtown. No such chance. Would have been a great photo-op.

We were in town and wanting to visit a distillery, it was a bonus that they made moonshine and whiskey. They are only open in Saturday's so I submitted a message on their website, within two minutes one of the owners, Steve, text me to set up a visit on the only day we were available. He was incredibly accommodating, he even text me the day of to verify our tasting. We later found out that he drove directly from his primary job in another town to meet us there. The tour and Tasting was free! The Distillery was small, but clean and well decorated. We started with a quick tour and explanation of their process. He was very patient with my silly questions and more than happy to explain everything to us. After the tour we moved on to the tasting. He offered for us to try any and all of what they make there. We didn't not need that but tried many of them. We ended up purchasing the whiskey, lemon drop, and blackberry moonshine, although there were several others we enjoyed. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good way to spend an hour and learn a little about the distilling process.

Every gathering me and friends have downtown either START at 2nd City or END at 2nd City. The bar is the best kept secret in the CSRA. (All alcohol is made in house) There's ample seating (I normally opt for the sofas), it's never too loud, the drinks are some of the best you'd get, the bartenders are top notch, and sometimes there's a beautiful friendly dog there. Every month they have a new batch of cocktails that you can try, but I'm not much of a fruity girl. The menu has a wide selection to choose from at a great price. Majority of the time, I have a salted caramel old fashion that comes with a piece of chocolate, it's smooth and delicious! What's cool is that all the liquor I from their distillery so the bartender can tell you all about it, a different experience than going to your everyday bar. **Just FYI they only have liquor and no beer, which was fine for us since that's all we were planning to have but if coming with beer folks be advised. ** Tons of seating for various group sizes, plus the couches made it feel like I was hanging out a a buddy's house. Also was nice that they played good music and not at an obnoxious level like most bards where you can't hold a conversation. The bartender was great, gave us info about the distillery and made one of the best old fashioned I have ever had. I will say that had I not know of this place I would have never come across it since it's off the Main Street, so I am thankful for word of mouth. I can't wait to come back and bring in folks that have yet to try it out!

I went online and there was no update, no indication as they why they apparently cancelled the event. It had simply disappeared from the page. I had been looking forward to learning more about the distillery but now I will never plan on an event at this location again, and honestly, not interested in wasting time coming for any other reason. The event popped up in January and I booked immediately, wanting to have a pocket Valentine's Day surprise. We arrived at our appointed time of 2pm, last available, and the gravel parking lot had plenty of spaces for us. I bet at night it can get packed, they have a local-bar vibe. We went in and followed the signs to the back. There is table seating as well as bar seating, and a nice dark wood funky vibe. Classic rock was playing not too loudly, and it seemed like they were running a staff meeting in the back so we couldn't do a tour. No problem, maybe next time. Our bartender welcomed us and offered table or bar seating, and of course we chose bar. There were several beer taps in the wall, with interesting-sounding names and descriptions that will have to be further explored at a future visit. We were here first and foremost for the tasting and pairing. Our guy gave us the list of the pairings, which was opposite order from the order they were served which was opposite the direction they were intended to be consumed. I enjoyed the chaos and we started with the house gin, featuring lavender and doing an incredibly herbaceous dance with the floral white chocolate. Nice pairing. Hubby is not a gin drinker and found it very floral and astringent. I bought a bottle. The next was the house spiced rum with a pineapple chocolate that was far superior to any Captain or Admiral. Spicy and smooth, a lovely slow sipping rum, or mix it up in a tiki drink or daiquiri. We picked up a bottle. Next, the bourbon. Hubs was not thrilled with their bourbon. He found it had a very acetone hit and while it was not objectionable, it would not be his choice. He is a bourbon connoisseur. I am not. I don't care for bourbon, but this was far smoother, less woody than expected. The dark chocolate would match with anything, really. Last, the rye whiskey. If I like anything less than bourbon, it's rye. But this one was surpringly drinkable, and I could see myself drinking it again. Hubby again picked up that acetone note that put him off the bourbon too. I don't know enough to define it. But tastes vary. We had fun and he wants to do more like this, so that's a W for the event, thanks for making it a fun Valentine's Day surprise! They sold me two bottles and I really like that gin so that's their W. The rest is for consideration. Gotta give em the full 5 stars. Keep your nose to the grindstone, Piggies, you've got a good thing going!
