I organized a retirement party for my co-worker who specifically wanted BBQ. I came across Southern Creations and after today, I definitely will call them again! From the initial phone call for consultation, the ordering, the ease of paying online, the extremely prompt delivery and the fact the food was delicious and remained very warm for over 2 hours from delivery, I am extremely happy! I received many compliments on choosing a great caterer and now everyone wants their number. Thank you, Southern Creations! I am so happy I took the advice of these fellow Yelpers before me and called you to cater a very important event! read more

We hired Southern Creations for a large 125+ resident event at a multi-family community that I manage. The food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I cannot wait to host my own personal event and utilize their services. They had excellent customer service, super sweet and communicative. My residents really enjoyed the beef brisket, BBQ chicken, BBQ beans and potato salad. I will have to try their famous corn cake next time! Thank you, Mrs. D and Chef D, you helped make our event a huge hit! read more

YELP FAMILY-USE THIS BUSINESS! I can't say enough about the EXCELLENT SERVICE AND FOOD! I hired Southern Creations to cater (drop off) food for my husband's retirement. I As person who can and does cook I was nervous because I had never tasted anything they made before. Well the DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The food was delicious! I ordered enough for 70 people and there was enough for seconds! Tee guests LOVED the food. (I have two calls already asking for their information). We ordered rib tips, brisket, mac and cheese, green beans, and yams and of course the incredible corn bread! The presentation was great with menus and identifiers for my guests. My first to my last interaction with the Southern Creations team was beyond 5 stars and I would highly recommend them!!!!! read more

EDIT: Thanks for the quick reply! Please do NOT feel the need to do anything!! I got two voicemails and will call back after my work meetings but please don't do anything!! My family ordered from their ala-carte menu and got the following: BBQ Pork Ribs; Tri Tip; Mashed Potatoes; Mac N Cheese; and 2x Corn Cake. We got 1 Corn Cake free with our order and 10% off for being first time customers! I have to be honest and say I wasn't fully prepared for what I was ordering, I knew I had to heat it up, but I wasn't familiar with the specific instructions. Just for you to be aware, and plan ahead with, our meals came frozen and we baked it at 375F for about 2 hours. We baked it frozen, so we didn't defrost it, which is why I think it may have taken longer than their instructions said. FYI the instructions didn't say if we should defrost the meal or not either. I would defrost if I were you because our mac and cheese ended up watery :( The instructions said to bake between 350-400F and to not go over 400F. Timing would be 50-60 minutes. As mentioned above, because we cooked from frozen, things took way longer and the overall texture of some dishes didn't hold up well. The sides took longer than the meat to heat up. I don't believe they have an option to drop off hot food, at least not at my scale (IDK about large events). The main highlight is how kind the owner is! Donell was the person who dropped off my delivery and they answered the phone to help me with my questions. The packaging of the food was beautiful as well. Big points for this. I have a few suggestions that might be helpful, but honestly these are just personal preferences. It would be awesome if you could include cooking instructions on your website under the 'How It Works' section. Also, on Yelp, there's a coupon that says "20% off for first time customers" but upon check out only 10% was applied. I appreciate 10% or 20%, but I do suggest to fix what it says on Yelp to avoid confusion! Also, this may just be because we had 5 adults eating, but we didn't think the meat entrees were big enough for all of us. On their website they suggest their meals for 4-6 people, but I think 4 people was a more appropriate estimation in our experience. We felt that the side dishes were great portions though! Lastly, for the tri tip, I wish (because it came frozen) that it was a whole piece rather than coming pre-sliced, so I could control the cook of the meat more. I found our ribs to be a little tough, so maybe I suggest the rib tips instead. Overall, I was happy to support a local business, with such a kind owner to boot. However, I'm not sure if I was as blown away as I was hoping from the other reviews. Tri tip - 3/5 Ribs - 3/5 Mac N Cheese - (flavor 5/5 but bc of the way it was cooked...) 3/5 Mashed Potatoes - 3/5 Corn Cake - 4/5 read more

We held an office gathering on Friday in our office. We had the whole nine yards, smoked turkey and gravy, dinner rolls, garlic mashed potatoes, garden salad, and ham. They came in, set up our conference room and the food was so good. Let me tell you when, I say it brings back memories of good eating, this was it. It had everyone talking after they were done eating. When the room or tables are silent, that's a sign that the food is good. Don't take my advice, try them out for yourself. You'll see just what I mean!!! read more

I wish I could give Southern Creations 10 stars. I had a backyard birthday party for 75 adults and 30 children. We chose Southern Creations because they had such great reviews, and we loved their menu choices. I also loved the personalized customer service. The pricing was very fare for the amount and quality of the food we received. I ordered Smoked Chicken, Pulled Pork, Mac and Cheese, baked Beans, Collard Greens, Veggie Sausages and Corn Cake. The food arrived right on time and was very hot on arrival. I had ordered for 75 figuring the 30 kids would not eat too much and that was a good call. We had plenty of food for everyone + leftovers. And now for the quality: WOW, everything tasted so good. The pulled pork was very yummy with a great BBQ sauce. The smoked chicken was moist and flavorful. The Mac and Cheese was baked and super tasty. Baked Beans were just spicy enough with a hint of sweet. The Collard greens tasted just like my West Virginia grandma made. And the Corn Cake was amazing. On top of that Chef D and Mrs. D are so warm and kind. It was just nice working with such nice people to make my 70th birthday party a huge success. Thanks to everyone at Southern Creations. You guys are the best. read more

I was a part of organizing a company Summer Party, and luckily found Southern Creations to cater for us. This husband and wife team is INCREDIBLE! We got the BBQ chicken, mac and cheese, green salad, and corn cake -- wow! Everything was hot and seasoned to perfection. You could really taste the love they put into their food. The team loved it!! For set up/to start the event, they were professional, helpful, fun, and seamless with their service. I love their energy, such kind souls. If you have an event coming up, DON'T order from some boring/played out chain -- choose local, choose Southern Creations. You will not be disappointed. read more

WOW! what a great family owned small business that prepares incredible bbq and the sides to go with it!! discovered chef and miss "D" at a bday party i attended. partook of their brisket, chicken, and hot links and every bite was amazing. my own bday was just a few weeks away, so i contacted them and placed an order for my party. miss D has a wonderful friendly personality and was extremely helpful in assisting me with making the order. we ordered the DIY brisket, chicken, hot links, southern corn, bbq beans, garlic mashed potatoes, and of course, the corn cake. we had 28 guests at the party, and EVERYONE raved about every single dish. a couple of the guys, who are meat masters in their own right, liked it so much that they took contact information for them. mr D and miss D personally delivered all the pans frozen the evening before, and after thawing, we followed the cooking/heating instructions and everything cooked perfectly. really, everything was deeelicious, especially the brisket which you could cut with a fork. THANK YOU mr and miss D for preparing a wonderful and very memorable "feast",,,,definitely a bday party to remember for a long time by all who attended!! i also want to ditto several of the favorable comments found in numerous prior reviews. read more

This review is way overdue. But Southern Creations catered my daughters sweet sixteen picnic. I ordered the diy option. The owners spoke to me in depth to make sure I had all the right instructions on heating and serving. They delivered straight to my door. Excellent service. Amazing food! We order food from Souther Creations ever year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This year I could tell there were some service improvements. They made sure they had my order printed and checked it at drop off and made me sign saying it was right and I received it. Wonderful. Thanksgiving Day I cooked my food like I know how and my pan of yams seems to have all the ends of the yams as they were very very stringy and difficult to eat for that reason. I'm not sure what happened but this is my favorite fish and I was very very disappointed. Next year we may have to rethink our dinner as I can't allow this to happen again. Our green beans, dressing and my father in law loved his meatloaf but them yams were wayyyy to stringy. Not sure if they sat too long before the were cut and cooked but something wasn't right. Fresh yams that haven't sat are not stringy. read more

I wanted to thank Donell for such an amazing experience. I had him cater my dads celebration of life. We ordered 3 types of meat and 3 types of side and let's not forget the Corn Cakes, yum! We talk the night before to finalize the meal and time of delivery and pick up. Donell and his staff came on time and set up. Food was so flavorful. The Brisket melted in your mouth and the ribs and chicken was moist. I'm not a white meat eater but the breast of chicken were tender and juicy. We got the creamy mash potatoes, Mac and cheese and you have to have the collard greens all delish!! We order for 50 people but truly fed over 50 since everyone ate twice. I thank you again Donell for doing an amazing job on the food and making my life easier on my Dads celebration of life. read more

You know when you have 250 employees raving about the food for days, you made a great decision. And that's exactly what happened. I work for a large corporation and I'm in charge of organizing and planning all events and employee engagement activities. Our latest event was a Wild Wild West BBQ Party for 250 employees. From the moment I reached out to Chef D and Miss D, I felt like family. They are the most professional yet warm and friendly individuals I have ever worked with on any event. They spent the time getting to know me, my location, my employees, and our needs for our event. And went to work to create a fabulous menu for us. Not only was the food outstanding, but the presentation was beyond what I ever imagined. They presented the dishes so beautifully with labels next to each item. The beef brisket was the most tender delicious brisket I have ever had, with the most incredible BBQ sauce. The brisket was a huge hit! The smothered chicken was equally as delicious! And having the Mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes made the perfect combination. And their famous "corncakes" will change your life. Put it this way, I had to turn people away because they kept coming back for seconds and thirds! I lost count of how many people said it was the best BBQ food they've ever experienced. And even more employees asked if we can have Southern Creations from now on for every event. Thank you Chef D and Miss D for providing an experience that our employees will never forget! Your warm personality and passion for good food made it a successful event! I'm already thinking about our next event with you! -Jael, Chief People Officer, McKesson Corp read more

I first heard of this place when they catered my wife's company picnic. I then had them cater a meeting at my job a couple months later. Both times, everything was fantastic. The chicken, ribs, everything was great. However, special mention goes to the tri tip and Mac n Cheese. The tri tip was soft, perfectly seasoned, and the sauce was amazing!! The Mac n Cheese, yeah that hit the spot. This isn't your fast food, powdered cheese, boiled Mac. This is Southern grandma in a hot kitchen baking a huge batch of stick-to-your-ribs Mac. The kind you sneak a plate to your car in some foil at the family dinner. The corn cake definitely lived up to the hype. Sweet, moist but not doughy, perfect end piece to the meal. At the end of the meeting, everyone was ready to take a nap, which of you know southern cooking, that's pretty much the best compliment you can give...lol. Last but not least, the people are great. You can tell they are sincere, genuine people that are doing what they love! When I called to place the catering order for my job, they actually remembered who I was from the picnic a couple months before. They definitely have a repeat customer here. Keep up the great work!! read more

This family run business exudes kindness, professionalism and love in all they do! From the moment I first spoke on the phone with "Mrs. D" I knew they were going to be amazing to work with. Together, "Chef D" and "Mrs. D", thought of every detail to execute this event providing Togo meals for the fire fighters to enjoy and even went out of their way to bring these meals to another local hotel for the fire fighters who were resting. I could not have asked for a better catering company to work with to help me with this heartfelt #feedthefighters event. So I'm going to be completely honest. This was my first time trying this place and I wanted to support a local black owned business . I usually cook thanksgiving dinner but thanksgiving 2020 I was 9 months pregnant and I wanted to give the reigns to someone else. And based off great reviews I gave this place a try. I ordered the thanksgiving dinner online which was smoked Turkey , Mac n cheese, yams, greens , dressing , gravy and pound cake. They gave a nice personalized card thanking me for supporting the business and of course reheating instructions. Now as far as the taste of the food this is my opinion and everyone taste buds are different .the smoked turkey was tender but it didn't really go with everything else I got I wish they offered a regular Turkey but it was ok, the greens were ok, yams could have been a little softer sweeter, Mac n cheese was ok a little bit too runny I like mine a little stiffer but it could have been because it was frozen idk the best parts were the dressing and the pound cake ooh they were sooo good. Nothing tasted particularly bad it was just ok. And the portions are nice size which is nice . Also I had a delivery window from 1p-3pm which was confirmed but they didn't arrive until almost 5p and the driver only reached out after I texted the owner at 330p asking where they were at. I had something to do that day that had to be canceled because they arrived late I understand things happen but they could of at least let me know ahead of time if they would be Past 3p. I may try this place again to give it another chance we'll see. read more
