When I walked into this boutique, I was greeted very friendly. The store was very tidy and smelled really good...The dresses were beautiful too! They have a great selection of wedding gowns for all different shapes and tastes. The gowns range from $600- $3000 or so. Jennifer was a sweetheart, and I think owns the shop. My daughter and I had the best experience here. We were really down after a bad experience with Town and country in New Orleans. Everyone here was tremendously helpful, understanding and kind. I would love to give this place zero stars. Let's see, I to follow up with Southern Bridal about a bridesmaid's dress, and then they decide to tell me it was ready in OCTOBER (it's the end of January). After no apologies, they said they 'called' me 3 times, (it's in my file so it MUST be true) yet the only time I received a call from them and spoke to a person was when they demanded payment - and never said anything about the dress being delivered. Now, I can understand - perhaps they called when my phone was turned off, which would explain no missed call alerts. Well surprise, surprise, they left no other messages! IT'S BEEN OVER 3 MONTHS SINCE MY $$$ DRESS WAS DELIVERED - REALLY, YOU WOULDN'T TRY A LITTLE HARDER? So it gets better. At the outset, I told them that I was an out-of-towner. Only now do they proceed to tell me they can ship me the dress but those charges would be in lieu of 'traditional' alterations, no matter that they said from the get go that alterations were included in the dress price. Guess they didn't have to pay for shipping to their store? The best part is, when I ordered the dress originally, they actually CHARGED me for fit alterations, as well as getting a larger size. Now, I can understand one or the other - extra fabric means extra cost. But doubling up on charges, and then charging again, really? Now, they get one star because a) zero is not an option and b) in all fairness, the other bridesmaids got their dresses. But I'm more livid because of the culmination of everything - it wasn't one little thing, it was MULTIPLE problems from these people. I RARELY write these reviews, but I'm livid enough at this point to do so. Here's looking at you Southern Bridal. All I can say is you better be making the bride a happy lady. I know you bridesmaid's out there may not have a choice, but at least you'll know what you're getting into. I've ordered bridesmaid dresses with a snap of the fingers before - and had to pay extra charges that were understandable - but I have NEVER had this much trouble with professionalism from a store before. read more

My mother and I flew in from Dallas to help my sister find a wedding gown and made an appointment at Southern Bridal. Fortunately we made appointments at other places or the trip would've been a complete waste because: -We were not greeted and when someone finally helped us she had no shoes on and seemed very flustered (surprising given we had an appt) -There was zero help for my sister. My mom had to help her get each dress on and off while I tried to clip them. -When we asked about belts and veils the woman told us to go pick whatever we wanted... isn't that your job? -We had been seated at one place which was overtaken by another customer, and then the worker had us move from the only other stage for other individuals Wedding dress shopping is meant to be a personal, special experience. My experience up until getting my dress from the store after it was altered by THEIR staff was great. (Continue reading for the negative alteration experience) I was measured for my bridesmaid dress and had it ordered and delivered to Southern bridal to pick up and have altered. At the time(October) bridesmaids dresses included alterations through their staff. When my dress came in I went to their establishment to try it on and get it altered. I did not ever bring it home as it stayed at their facility and their seamstress house(as I've been told) until I went and picked it up to take home for my friends wedding. When I tried it on to make sure the alterations were OK at their shop there was a large stain under the left chest area that looked like something was spilled down the front of it. I brought it to the staffs attention and they said they didn't see what I was talking about. After stating I wasn't taking it home they said they were going to steam it because it may be just be the material wrinkles. They called me the next day and said that they couldn't get it out and that there was nothing they could do because I should've noticed it when I first came in to try it on(before alterations). I told them that the reason I never noticed it was because it wasn't there when I tried it on before the alterations were made. I had four people with me when I originally tried it on and if the stain "was on it" at that time it would've been noticed by someone that was with me if not myself. After multiple conversations of me standing up for what was right(dress never was in my possesion so the stain was not on me) they finally offered to give me 50% back of what I paid for the dress. They also stated how unfortunate it was because they were losing out on it when it wasn't their fault(instead of owning the fact that the dress was practically ruined from a stain that either happened during the alterations or being transferred from the alteration place back to the salon). Again, I never had the dress in my possession so this was just ridiculous to even have them say that they were not at fault and that it was on me. My friends wedding was a week away and they said that they couldn't do anything for the stain because they were losing money and they couldn't send it back to the distributor because they had already altered it and the wedding being a week away. Although I strongly feel I should have been refunded 100% of the cost I had to just take it as I needed a dress to wear for the wedding. I did STRONGLY recommended that they update their policy to have the customer AND their team sign off that the dresses are perfectly fine before alterations so if/when these things happen it's not blamed on the customer who never took it out if the store OR is caught right away if it truly is the distributor error. I am human and understand that things happen and there are going to be accidents that take place. My main issue with this whole situation was the lack of ownership the owner and the facility took on this matter. I'm just glad that it only happened to a maid of honor and not an actual bride. read more

I like, Cassie, wish I could give this place 0 stars. When I arrived, they were dismissive of both my friend and I trying to get measured for bridesmaids dresses. They didn't have proper sizes, and gave me a dress 4 sizes too big to try on, and somehow determined a size from that. I fully admit that this might be normal practice, but for those of us who don't buy bridesmaids dresses every day, this can be a bit disconcerting. There were no high heels to try the dresses on with--and my friend, who is tall, had to ask before she was told it was extra money to add more length to her dress. I left here feeling unhappy and completely uninformed about my dress. This place absolutely deserves 0 stars. read more

I don't know what the heck the other reviewers are talking about this place was the best! I had the most amazing experience at Southern Bridal. In fact it was so great that even though I had visited over 5 other boutiques AND I live in Baton Rouge, I happily purchased my gown from Southern Bridal in Mandeville. Why? The CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I was referred to Southern Bridal by a designer's website. There were a few gowns that I was interested in so I e-mailed the Southern Bridal and inquired if they had those particular dresses. Jennifer, the owner, told me exactly which dresses they had and recommended an alternative for one of the dresses that they did not have in the store. I really appreciated this because some places tell you yes but what they mean is, "we carry that designer." So, you could make an appointment to see a particular dress only to find out that they don't have it. Southern Bridal doesn't trick you like that. At my appointment, it turned out that the dresses I picked did not work for me. However, the experienced and informed staff pulled dresses that fit me better and one of the dresses chosen for me was THE DRESS! I had been to other places where the staff was not as accommodating and you were left to fend for yourself. In addition to the staff being wonderful, the owner, Jennifer, is amazing. It is such a comfort to meet the owner of the store and see how involved she is. You can tell she really loves what she does and truly cares about the bride. She put me at ease and made it a fun experience. I highly recommend Southern Bridal. The service is incredible, the dresses are beautiful and the prices are right. Oh, and there's an in-house seamstress, which is very convenient. I just ordered my dress so I'll update this review once I finish fittings. I am confident that everything will go smoothly and my dress will be absolutely perfect, thanks to Jennifer and her fabulous staff. Post wedding update: all of my experiences with southern bridal remained pleasant throughout the purchase, order and altering of my dress. They were helpful and accommodating.
