With this Simed Gyn office, I too had the same horrible experience, the staff blocks contact, and is very rude and condescending. In cases of emergency this puts lives in danger, and they are constantly making errors. Hope you are healthy before you go because they might leave you worse off, the Dr. does not appear to be knowledgeable even in basic things. Remember, if any staff whether its their horrible nurse or horrible receptionists, or the Dr., wrongs you, and causes you grievances, you have every right to file a Lawsuit against them. And you can make the town better off that way. Bad practioners need to face consequences. Otherwise new better Dr.'s will assume this market is covered and go elsewhere. At least, remember you can report any malpractice or even grievances to the government health agencies. Or else the quality of care in this town wont improve. The worst feeling is that they don't care about people, even when the people are at the most vulnerable. The Heads at Simed should terminate any contract and seek some better options to offer. Stay away from this place. We have been waiting for my wife to be put on correct medications to counteract her autoimmune disorder for 5 months. The receptionist run the offices and block contact with doctor's. Good luck attempting to get issues resolved. Was being refereed to Mayo Clinic 6 weeks ago because issues are outside the limited scope of this so-called medical facility. Tried to contact doctor in regards to referral and was not allowed to contact doctor by front office. So at this point we are doing self referral to Mayo Clinic, which I should have done weeks ago. read more

I was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis out of state and upon returning to the Gainesville area I was refered to Dr. McMillan thru my physician. Dr. McMillan agreed with the diagnosis and told me when I am ready that he would perform ACDF ON multiple levels. Until then he suggested cervical epidural and Pt to manage the pain. I had good success with the epidural prior to seeing him. So he put in an order to have the epidural series with my insurances..(note I have BCBS platnium plan, I have great insurance, ) my insurance requested proof of pt, and a peer to peer with the Dr. with also information that I had relief with prior epidurals. My insurance company called Dr. McMillan on 5 occasions and either got an answer machine, or left a message for the Dr. to call. When I contacted the Dr. office, I was treated rudely, I was scolded for calling. I was passed around the office, and no one seemed able to help. I was hung up on. One girl said " this ain't my job, I don't know who you have to talk to". This went on for over 35 days. Mind you I was in pain. I finally got another appointment to see Dr. McMillan, surely he would be concerned with the way I was being treated by his staff. He wasn't. I told him my insurance co needed to speak to him to approve epidural, he said " um, yeah, I am not doing that"...."you need to change insurance companies"....."but we will put in another order for a cervical epidural, maybe they will get tired of asking".....One week later my insurance co contacted my, they denied Dr McMillan's request for a LUMBAR EPIDURAL... Said there's no documentation supporting any LUMBAR issues. I have never been treated so poorly or so rudely by a Dr. office. The staff will cut you off mid sentence, talk over you and be-little you. They had no concern for my health at all. They flat out lied to me several times. 8 out of 10 times when you call you get an answer machine, and NO One will call you back. Requesting the wrong procedure was the last straw, what if he performed the wrong surgury? Anyway I got a referral to another Neurosurgeon, and with in 2 weeks had ACDF on multiple levels and had no issues with my insurance. read more

As the other posts have said, their office staff blocks all interaction with doctor or even nurses. So if you need to speak someone with a degree in medicine as opposed to a receptionist, it won't happen. Of course they'll set up an appointment (equals office visit $$) for you, but don't expect same day. They list 4 values on their website, trust, respect, excellence & fairness. I'm thinking maybe its time for a refresher course on those for their employees... all of them. My husband sees the pain management team. If you are looking for a legal drug supplier and can obey the rules, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for someone to actually help you manage your pain and live a normal life, then stay away from here. My husband definitely had reason to be prescribed the 4 different pain/anxiety/controlled substance meds several years ago. One would wonder why they would continue to prescribe a couple of them together for so long. Even the pharmacist made a comment as to the dangerous situation that could arise from them. Here is where I say SIMED'S "integrated" approach of getting the right care failed. Every month my husband dutifully showed up for his appointments to rate his pain and take necessary drug tests. And every month they gave him his new prescriptions. In and out. My husband successfully stopped taking 2 of those 4 meds on his own. He decided he wanted to see if he would be ok without them. The side effects were beginning to take a toll on his quality of life. While the initial reasons for taking these meds were correct and to help a bad situation, I would think that careful monitoring of the need to continue the same course month after month would be part of this practice. Common sense would tell you that taking the least amount of medicine (especially addictive medicine) to treat the problem the better. But NO, these people just want to keep the factory running at a steady rate. So here we are today, and my husband wants to get off 1 more med. This one has horrible withdrawal symptoms which he experienced temporarily when trying to stop cold turkey. So he went to his "caring" team at SIMED to help. We came up with a dosage plan that decreased this med as little at a time as possible to reduce the extremely uncomfortable side effects. Isn't that what any normal person would want?? NOT SIMED. The nurse/or PA took our request to the Dr. He came back with a different plan. One that seemed a lot more drastic. We requested to discus it with the Dr. Nurse said no, he's busy. WHAT?? After back & forth discussion the conversation started getting hostile. Told us if we wanted to see Dr to make an appt and come back in a few days. Nurse kept quoting the length of years Dr had doing this. Told us that we wouldn't be able to follow our plan because of different dosages. We told him we were certainly capable. He told us he doesn't take orders from us. And stormed out of the room like a child having a tantrum. Not sure what kind of issues this man had. It seemed like he felt threatened. I think if you are that insecure in your position you have no business being in the medical field. Its not about you, its about your patient. Feeling totally bullied and disrespected, my husband had to go seek out Nurse to get prescription. He left and started the program they wanted. (feeling he really had no choice). After 1 day he is feeling exactly how we wanted to avoid. Why would a caring doctor, knowing your patient already has anxiety about the withdrawal symptoms purposefully put them in this situation. It makes no sense. Unless they just want him to fail. Very sad situation that could easily have been avoided. read more

The staff are rude, error prone, and fail to return phone calls. The medical staff are often condescending and rude as well. The whole place looks like it could use a good cleaning. Looks moldy and shabby. They also sometimes refuse to accept referrals from other doctors. read more
