As our in house wedding planners Laura and Samantha ensured that everything was taken care of from start to finish! This meant that we received vetted, top tier vendors from across the Birmingham Area without having to manage complicated contracts and timelines. Although we were not living in Birmingham, they worked with us to ensure that every detail was handled including in-person and virtual vendor meeting scheduling and day of timeline coordination. All we had to do throughout the process was show up! What we were most impressed by, however, was the kindness and attentiveness shown by Laura, Samantha, and Allie (our design and decor expert) in the weeks leading up to the wedding. Finding parking wasn't bad and the venue is very spacious. My friend knows how to throw a good party so of course it was decorated beautifully and had awesome entertainment. There is no elevator unfortunately, but the bathrooms are handicap friendly and there is a separate back entrance for vendors. Parking is a bit limited to alleyways and street parking, but as the area finishes their renovations, I wouldn't be surprised if a parking garage would eventually make its way here. The fun in a raw space is seeing how much it changes for whatever the theme merits. There is a dedicated team here that works to make that vision come true and they're a professional and friendly bunch. I think their operation is stellar from top to bottom that perspective folks should really consider this gem of a venue.

What? There's baseball in town the same week that I'm here for work? BASEBALL!…read more Tickets are quite inexpensive. I got a front row seat along the third base line for $12! The ticketing system works quite well and now I have a "free" souvenir because I chose "will call" instead of "print at home." The game was really good. The Barons hit a three run homer, got a double play and had a few other dramatic moments. Including the third base player chasing a foul ball that nearly landed in my lap. Good times! Yeah, there were a few bad calls by the umpires but they seemed to be evenly divided for the Barons and the Suns. As well, a few really poor plays like the pop up fly that hit the ground because the player fell on his butt. But then, this is Minor League and that sort of stuff happens. The Birmingham Barons are the AA farm team for the Chicago White Sox. Coincidence, the Charlotte Knights (my town!) are the AAA farm team for the Sox!

My friend reserved a table for a group of us, which gives you a time slot to work on your craft. When you are done, they fire it for you, then contact you when it is ready to be picked up. They have such a wide variety of pottery pieces to choose from as well as many paint options and tools. Each paint option was labeled with a number and had a tile showing how the color would end up looking after the firing process, because the wet paint itself is a lighter/different color. Every employee I encountered was a delight, and so helpful. They walked you through the process and helped me with any paint questions I had. I also discovered they have stencils and things like that! There's a big parking lot in the back, or a few spots out front, easy for pick ups. Great experience for any type of outing, and it is family friendly. It's not the biggest space, so I do recommend booking a table. All of the pieces are labeled with a price that comes off in the kiln, and there's a wide range of price ranges for any budget. Some really cute items to choose from. Will be coming back :)
