Five Star Property Management - Small stain in carpet

Five Star Property Management

(54 reviews)

Five Star Property Management in Pocatello is well established and a reputable business here in…read morePocatello. I did not hesitate to rent one of their properties. Whenever I had a problem it was addressed very quickly except one issue that was never fixed (the constant running of one of the toilets). That is why I was so incredibly disappointed when I learned that they took out almost $600 of my deposit to do "repairs" as they stated. I have NEVER had any amount of my rental deposit not refunded to me... NEVER!! I always leave the rental in better condition than I received it. In fact, the place I rented from them was not left clean. The interior of the windows were filthy, items were left in the kitchen cupboards, along with hair items left in the bathroom drawers. No biggie.... I just cleaned them out as I unpacked. But now that I see how they nickle-and-dimed me from my deposit I am not only shocked but extremely disappointed. They claimed nail holes and painting in the amount of over $500. Seriously?? I use the tiny picture hooks that barely leave a hole. Yes, there were a few places I had to put an anchor in the wall, but there certainly wasn't over $500 worth of damage as they claimed. What's amazing is because I had moved out of state I called Five Star a few weeks after moving out to make sure all was good with the place. I was told that everything was great and that they "didn't have to do hardly anything" in their exact words. So, as I patiently waited for my large deposit to be returned to me, which you should know they hold on to for the full 30 days after you move out. As their employee Kevin stated, "they usually use the full 30 days". Why? The lease states that it could take "up to 30 days" to receive your deposit back. They didn't mail me my deposit until after the 30 days had lapsed. Doesn't make sense especially when I was told by their staff two weeks prior that "everything was great and they didn't have to do hardly anything". So... I am shocked by the way Five Star not only held onto my money longer than their written move-out policy claims, but I am extremely disappointed by the way they literally stole a large part of my security deposit. Had it not been for the underhanded theft of my deposit I would have given them a 4 or 5 Star rating. But that is not the case. Shame on you, Five Star, for being so greedy. Mark 10:23- And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the Kingdom of God!!" Mark 10:25- "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God"... as Jesus also stated. I Timothy 6:9-10....But those that desire to be rich fall into temptation, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils". So if my money brings you happiness here in this world of sin and greed then I shall give it to you without hesitation.

At the time of move in baseboard scuff marks were present and also the room shelves were dusty and not cleaned the window mesh was torn (proof of which was documented in terms of a ticket opened to fix the mesh) non working carbon monoxide monitor, there were several things which were not right no internet connectivity for over week and half. Dirty bathrooms carpet in the hallway common area was also filled with broken chairs tables all covered in dust. Dirty fridge where youre supposed to store your food. After asking for my security deposit i was told i have created scuff marks in the baseboards what a bunch of liars. If youre a parent or student thinking of renting this for your child you will regret this. Also very slow to react to open issues .

I didn't know where to look and tried several different agencies who wouldn't take me to view ANY of their listings and said I couldn't go inside. I was frustrated since I had limited time. I called several agencies before calling ANR on a Friday and all of them said they couldn't show any listings on fridays and I was feeling helpless since I had been up there a couple days and no one would let me go. I explained my situation when I finally called ANR and Jennifer was super sweet and decided to take me to a couple Properties- even one that hadn't been listed quite yet- which is the one I ended up living in. We got everything signed that morning and I was able to go back to southern Utah with ease knowing I found a place because someone went above and beyond! While living at their property, we were great tenants- the owner stopped by at one time and was happy with how we kept the rental. We paid our rent ahead a couple months, kept the rental extemely clean, and they showed their appreciation by quickly attending to any maintenance calls and waiving a $50 fee when I accidentally put in one wrong number for my bank account on my ACH withdrawal. My husband and I ended up moving to Alaska before our lease was up in August of 2018- we put in a month notice, paid up, and left a week after our notice with the place super clean. ANR even gave us a refund from our deposit which we weren't expecting at all since we terminated our lease early! They only took $25 for cleaning which was a huge blessing. They have been nothing short of amazing to work with. I HIGHLY recommend. Best rental company I have ever gone through.

I've been working with Axiom Property Management and PRS Realty Services for over 10 years…read more Although California is home, my wife and I investigated real estate investment opportunities in many of the Western United States. Most areas we looked at only made investment sense if the properties appreciated dramatically. We like a greater margin of safety. PRS and Axiom helped us find a location with low vacancies, stable long-term appreciation, high capitalization rates and excellent rates of return. We appreciate the fact that the company running the pro-forma numbers on potential investments also handles the property purchase and the management afterwards. You'd be surprised at how many property management companies have no idea how to put together decent assumptions on a real estate investment. These guys are the real deal. Business investment acumen, high moral character and a true desire to make their clients' investments successful...it's a winning combination and why we've chosen to continue expanding our real estate portfolio with them. It' s our pleasure to recommend them. Jonathan & Heather Johnson Camarillo, CA

People who live in their houses and apartments are constantly moving in then out when they actually find out how heavy handed those leases are. And the WSG has to be shared with other tenants in their apartment buildings. So even if you try and save water, and your neighbors don't, you end up paying more for your water bill every month also. The grounds are always trashy and look like a dump. Word to the wise, don't move into any of their properties unless you absolutely have to.

Before I traveled to Pocatello to investigate income property, I left voice mail for a few realtors…read morethere I'd found on the web. Gina Lee at Gate City Real Estate was not the first I called, but she was the first to call back. That alone says a lot about her. Her customers are her first priority and she doesn't waste time. My schedule allowed me only five days in Pocatello. I arrived with a list from Zillow and Trulia, to which she added some of her own. Using her own car, she showed me 17 properties in the first two days. I put the numbers into my spreadsheet and was encouraged, but didn't trust my own rent estimates. Gina gathered her colleagues having rental experience, who gave me their input. The numbers suddenly didn't look so good. Not one to give up, Gina then introduced me to a property manager. Since I would be an absentee landlord, I would be needing one anyway. This one did some rental investing on his own account and led me to a property that was available. This time, the numbers worked. I depended on Gina's local experience to come up with an appropriate offer. She helped me with the initial offer and handled the negotiations through the seller's agent, giving me valuable feedback as to how low the seller would go. The seller and I ended up meeting halfway, and I had my property. My own insurance agent wasn't licensed in Idaho, so Gina then referred me to one in Pocatello. With buyer, seller, title company, insurer and property manager all lined up, closing went off without a hitch. Gina is a hard working go getter in tune with her clients' needs. She is organized, uses her time well and works to a deadline. She will save you a LOT of footwork.

I even showed them the video and they said they dont need to hear from my land lord.. that was good enough. He said put in your app and pay the $45 app fee and you will be fine ( before the video) ( because I explained it to him).. is there anything else I should know.. he said..I said I have a brother that had hip surgery and shoulder surgery and helps take care of my son for me.. they ask how long will he be there and I said about a month from moving in. everything was great.. I had a couple of choices to choose from.. I was very happy.. then the day before I was to pay my deposit. I get a phone call saying I talk to your nm landlord.. and you didnt tell me the truth about your brother.. do he now will not except my application.. what is that.. Tracy Bixby with Homeland Realty is dishonest from the get go. We were told what our real estate…read morecommission was going to be. Great. Her numbers were better than the 6% other realtors were charging. The home sold in one weekend. ONE HOUR before our closing we got an email from First American Title Co. letting us know what our closing fees would be. Our fees suddenly had doubled. We called Tracy immediately. She tried to say that was what we agreed on. She backed down when we said we had our written contract in front of us. She said she would correct it. When we got to the Tittle company she hadn't notified them. Luckily another agent who works for Tracy was in the room, (seems Tracy had suddenly taken ill) and the other agent had the form corrected as to what the correct fees were. Another lie was telling us that our buyer was buying it for her ISU college son. We were more than willing to help out. As we are snow birds, we left the home 98% furnished with new items only used 5 months a year. We had only owned the home 5 years. Included were couches, mattresses, lamps, washer and dryer, dishes, silverware, pots and pans and even the lawn furniture and lawn mower. I even left blankets, sheets and towels. Three weeks later, I looked it up on Zillow as our neighbors said no one had moved in yet. Surprise, surprise they now had it for rent at $2450 and Homeland Real Estate was the property manager. What had really angered us was earlier we had canceled an appt. with an estate dealer to manage a sale since we didn't need any furnishings at our Winter home. We figured their son could use all we left behind. Plus to add insult to injury, I took great pictures of our property when we listed it as an FSBO three weeks earlier. I gave Tracy permission to use them when we listed with her. Now she's using my pictures to try and rent the property. Tracy is sneaky and dishonest.
