I found Jorge through yelp. I initially contacted him a few months ago and then reached out in November again to rent the canopy for my baby-shower in early January this year. I had made my initial deposits and reserved the pictured canopy, tables, chairs and table linens. It accommodated quite a few people (50+ guests). The canopy was set up in our backyard. Initially, we had planned to have the tent grounded to the grass but with the rain, last minute pivoted to the side of the house. One star has been removed, mainly because the communication closer to event was a little unclear. Specifically, because the event took place on the 3rd (right after new years), it was unclear when the set-up would take place. I did end up texting and reaching out and the correspondence came later in the day by Jorge. In addition, the rain delayed the set-up time and we did have to make up the last minute pivot. I found out later that due to the rain, his co-worker left early sick and he came alone to set up the canopy the night before. He did a great job securing the canopy and appreciated his service. George came over the house and measured the front yard as I inquired about a canopy tent, tables, linens and chairs for my Mom's 90th birthday at her house! She wanted a private affair for the 60+ friends & family we invited months ago! George offered his recommendations for round tables vs. rectangular, port o potty for the men and use the single bathroom for the women inside and heaters if it was going to be a cold day! January usually is! He helped me decide on extra chafing dishes, 2 extra rectangular tables and 2 extra black linens. I ended up adding more white chairs and green astroturf to hide the cracks in the driveway. We had 3 of our own pop-up tents and tables and together, it was a HUGE success! Everyone complimented me about the set up! only during the cake & tribute video did people go in the house. We expected people to go in the house and backyard which was set up for table games and corn hole but only the young people did that! The canopy had lights that turned on in the evening and by then, most people left as it was an afternoon party! I created a yelp account just to write this review because I have NEVER been treated this poorly before. I unfortunately had to cancel my event less than 24 hours after giving Jorge a deposit payment. The day after paying Jorge, I learned that many of those invited were weary of Covid cases rising (Delta variant) so we canceled the event. Jorge refused to refund my money,  but he called me and told me that instead of refunding me, he will honor my deposit as credit for up to one year.   I contacted Jorge within a couple weeks later to use that credit for a funeral event my family member was reserving tables and chairs for. My cousin had already spoke to Jorge about the needed date and time, so I wanted to apply my credit towards her reservation. Jorge completely ignored my phone calls and messages and still to this day has not responded.  I am at a loss of words over the fact that anyone could treat a customer this way. My fault in all this was in not trusting my instincts. I thought it was very strange and unprofessional that Jorge never spoke a word to me about a deposit amount, terms, conditions, policies, or cancellation rules. In fact, when I texted him that I was good with the price he quoted me, all he responded with was a link to his Venmo account.      Jorge told me that his policy is to honor my deposit money for up to a year. When I contacted him to use that deposit, he ignored me completely. He kept my money and provided no services. Who does that? This guy has shown me ZERO integrity as a "business person." This is America; we should have the freedom to drink on the lawns of the property we own and not fear repercussions. Alas, it's California and god forbid we get some kegs and a round of Beirut going on the grass. Enter George and South Bay Party Rentals to the rescue! The First Annual Beerlympics would not have been possible without George! He came by, measured the lawn and driveway, and helped us figure out which tents best suited our needs. We were able to order able and chairs from him as well. The event was on Saturday at noon. George came on Friday and set everything up to perfection. These were the CLEANEST party rentals I have ever seen. Numerous guests commented on how clean the tables and chairs were. Fast forward to lots of partying, drinking, etc.... George comes to picks the tents up Sunday and sees we've taken advantage and were finishing up a barbecue to get rid of the last of the goods. Jorge is the best hands down! Last year we rented a tent and chairs and were charge for delivery and set up. Jorge gave us a quote for 2 tents (20'x15' and a 10'x10' EZ up) plus 7 tables, 56 chairs, delivery PLUS set up and break down for the same price from the other local rental shop. Everything was handled very smoothly and Jorge was able to get us everything we needed within a week!! At the last minute we decided to op for a heater which he provided and the way the tent was set up, there was no way it was going anywhere. Our party happened to be on the day it rained very heavily and there was a lot of wind, but not one of our guest got wet! The way Jorge set up the tent and explained everything ended up far exceeding our expectations from the experience we had the last time. When hosting events, there's always a little anxiety about the rental company you go through. Wondering if they will show up on time, will there be extra charges, etc. However I didn't experience that with Southbay Party Rentals. I followed the instructions to text George for all questions. I needed a pop corn machine for a baby shower I was hosting and I texted him to ask price, give date/address of event and confirmed. I eventually called because I wanted to be 1,000% sure. I asked him what time would he be there since the event started at 2pm. He responded "I don't deliver same day, I like to get it to you beforehand so you don't have to worry about it." I thought that was so considerate. He actually dropped off the popcorn machine 2 days before at no extra charge. This allowed us ample time to figure out where to put it and decorate around it. Since I wasn't available when he dropped it off he was ok with someone FaceTiming me and he showed me how to use it and gave tips on how to avoid burnt popcorn. I have to mention, when he texted to say he was on his way to drop off the machine I realized I needed 2 extra tables and he delivered that as well!
