Had to get an oil change and read some good reviews about this place so decided to give it a try…read more Didn't need to make an appointment and the oil change took about 10 mins even though they seemed to be quite busy. Unlike some other places I have been to for oil changes they didn't up sell me on any additional product like air filters etc. They told me my vehicle could take regular oil or synthetic and it was completely my choice. All in the oil change with the synthetic oil was under 88 dollars.

Had a very disappointing experience at this shop. I came in for a second opinion based on proximity…read moreand positive reviews, but ultimately left with a very bad impression. I initially came in for an oil change and asked the owner / owner's son, Riaz, to check a few items while the car was on the hoist: the belt drive, control arms, brake fluid, and brake pads. I was completely fine paying for an inspection, and he mentioned it would be easy to check since the car was already lifted. After the oil change, I was told that all of the above items needed attention. Based on his recommendation, I authorized the brake fluid service and belt drive replacement. The old belt was never shown to me after replacement. Regarding the brakes, I was told--both verbally over the phone and in writing on the invoice--that the brake pads were 1 mm in the front and 3 mm in the rear, and that they needed to be replaced ASAP. I found this odd and questioned it, but he doubled down and assured me this was accurate. I was quoted $550 per axle, trusted the assessment, and agreed. I was also given labor quotes for the work and asked to return once I purchased the pads and control arms. The labor pricing was on the higher side, though still lower than the dealership. The parts took about a week to arrive. Once the parts came in, I called around and found another shop that beat their pricing, so I dropped the car off there instead. Midway through the day, the new shop called me to ask whether I actually wanted to replace the rear brake pads, because they measured 6-7 mm remaining and didn't understand why they were being replaced at all. I have never experienced an auto shop calling to confirm work because they believed it was unnecessary and unreasonable. That alone speaks volumes. I returned to Amin's to see if they would make things right. When I first called, I was told, "What do you want us to do? The manager isn't here and won't be back for six weeks." After pushing back, I was told to come in and discuss it. When I arrived, Mr. Amin was extremely confrontational and stated that they "only eyeball the brake thickness." I explained that I came to their shop specifically for a professional opinion, and that I had written confirmation from their invoice stating the rear pads were 3 mm, which was clearly not the case. Had I not chosen to source my own parts, I would have been charged $1,100 for brake work that was not needed. I was ultimately told to "get lost and sue me if you want." There was no attempt to resolve the issue, no accountability, and no professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop. im out money for parts and labor which i never needed.

This shop does business as Sunny Coast Auto Service but on Google Maps they show up as H Tech Motor…read moreInc. This auto shop is under new ownership as of a a little over one year ago. My trusty old Mazda had a faulty thermostat and needed replacing. I shopped around for a few quotes and I knew exactly what was wrong, bought the parts myself and so I decided I would try to find a trustworthy shop in the area. The quote from this shop was on the lower end of the labour quotes I received from several places. I previously used Minit Tune in Richmond to have a brake job done (about a year ago) based on all of the 5-star Yelp reviews, but after one visit, I'm not going back there. While I was waiting at Minit Tune I witnessed one person arrive to pick up her car and was told she got an oil change (that she never asked for) because she "needed it". Jackson (the owner or manager of Minit Tune) later phoned another client while I was sitting in the waiting area to tell him his car was ready. And that Mint Tune had done an oil change, again, it wasn't requested by the customer, but justified it because the client "needed it". Huge red flags when any shop does service that wasn't requested. I don't know how it gets so many great reviews. So I shopped around and took a shot with Sunny Coast Auto Service. Ben, the current owner of Sunny Coast, let me bring my own parts in (which, generally speaking you shouldn't do if you like your mechanic) and he performed the service at the bottom of the estimate range which was the most competitive price around. I am always wary of mechanics, so I always put them through a few tests, giving them opportunities to take me for a ride, so to speak. This shop passed the honesty test. My front suspension needed work as well (leaking strut), so I had it replaced at Sunny Coast a month later. Ben gave me the option to bring my own parts in as I did last time, but I was fine getting the parts though him for my second experience. Mechanics earn their living on both the labour and markup on parts, so for my second time around I let him sell me the parts. He gave me the part options from the budget options to the OEM parts. He went so far to say that he put the budget ones from the same after-market manufacturer on his father's vehicle and they're still doing fine two years later. Not often a mechanic will tell you something that may steer you to the lowest price part, yeah? Based on my own research (because I'm like that), the mark up I believe I was charged on the parts was very small (sub-20% and that markup includes whatever Ben paid to have the parts delivered) for something similar @ Lordco corporate account rates. After delivery/tax charges, buying the parts from Amazon.ca (which is what some of you might try to do) would have been more expensive than I was quoted by Sunny Coast for the after-market parts. Very reasonable, unlike Dealersh... Stealerships that will only sell you higher priced OEM parts (OEM vs aftermarket is another debate, but suffice it to say for many parts, aftermarket is just fine.. if you have a leased vehicle, check your agreement if non-oem is permitted), charge you MSRP for them (which is usually more than double what any corporate account at any auto parts store would actually pay, nevermind the fact that the Stealerships get them at wholesale pricing, which is what an auto parts store would generally pay. Shortly after getting my struts done, a colleague was having problems with her brake light coming on periodically (usually going uphill or accelerating on flat road) and then turning off. I referred her to Ben's shop. Her front brake pads needed replacing. Job done for half the price quoted by her Stealership. I had front brakes done at Minit Tune 2 years ago w/ 50% off the parts - my colleague paid 35% less at Sunny Coast than I did @ Minit Tune. I always think mechanics are out to rip me off. After getting two different repairs done at Sunny Coast Auto (and waiting a month and a half to write this review so I could get two different jobs done at Sunny Coast Auto and let my colleague get her repair done), I believe this is an honest shop run by an honest mechanic. Chatting with Ben, I discovered his business is almost exclusively word of mouth and mostly comprised of the same people that patronized the shop for many years in the past (under the old owner as well as under Ben for the past year+) - this shop has virtually no reviews anywhere. On the weekends (when I've been there), it's just Ben and one other mechanic. This not a big shop so you do need to take that into consideration if you need service _right now_. Give him some love Yelp and show him that honesty pays off when it comes to fixing cars. Tell him Ed with the Mazda referred you. I'm pretty sure he figured out I am a bit of a skeptic and hopefully that means he'll treat you as well as he's treated me and my colleague.

The repair costs were reasonable, and 2 days later I was back on the road and drove safely home with no further problems. I pulled it over to a quiet residential street, and the road was immediately covered in coolant. In short, not good! After some careful roadside diagnostics I realised that I would definitely need a mechanic's help to get a functioning pump going and reset my serpentine belt. I called a few places up, but Samson was the only one who could see it the next day. So I bring it in the next morning with a a new pump, ready to go but... it was defective! Had to rush an exchange and they redid the work ASAP. And the road coolant? A busted radiator! Totally unrelated, but they threw it in for a very reasonable labour rate and below market price on the radiator. So I got a pump installed and then reinstalled, my serpentine belt re tensioned, and a new radiator with install for well under $1000. Done after a single day, next day service. Amazing! And they noted another job that might need to be done soon (my van's 20 years old, go figure), but didn't pressure me to do it. Probably my best experience with a mechanic yet!

No gimmicks, no frills, but did good work for real cheap (due to the less expensive parts they secure). In the end though our wrecked controlling arm, trailing arm, etc was replaced for a very reasonable and inexpensive price, the alignment (which they don't have the machinery to do so they referred us to Pacific Alignment) cost us an arm and leg!! We do understand that alignments cost more money but we wish we understood their limitations because we might have just gone straight to Pacific Alignment instead, but I don't know if they would've reduced the price or not. It was just an extra hassle to move the car to Pacific Alignment to finish the work. However, I would still recommend this place because they're honest people doing honest work and they didn't charge us an arm and leg like the KalTire folks (we got a quote from them). However KalTire has great service and Samson's is more a mom and pop neighbourhood autobody. I would choose this place in a heartbeat because I love supporting honest small businesses, and this place is one of them!

With RCMP assistance, the full repair amount was paid on December 12, 2024. There has been no outstanding balance since that date.
