I am very upset with Dr. Gotlieb at SH Pediatrics. My daughter saw him at 24 months, complaining of pain in her diaper area. She was waking up every few hours at night, crying to be changed, and was not herself. She would say that it hurt. Dr. Gotlieb took a urine sample from her, and the preliminary came back positive for an infection. He had to send the sample to the lab, and started her on a 10 day course of antibiotics.
Two days after she completed the medicine, she started having the same symptoms as before, so I brought her back in. The nurse then told me that the culture wound up being negative at the lab. I was very upset that they didn't let me know, but instead let a 24 month old take a 10 day course of anti biotics for what was, a negative test. We saw dr. Gottleib again, He looked her over, said it was probably just a behavioral issue, and told us to come back if she had a fever, and wasn't going to re-test her urine.
Two days later, she was screaming crying every time she urinated and would not swim or sit in the bathtub. I brought her into urgent care and saw Dr. Kot, who tested her and she tested positive for E. coli in her urine, and put her on a 5 day antibiotic. He was shocked that SH peds had put her on 10 days previously, given her age.
Please don't send your child to dr gottleib. He is not thorough and doesn't listen to what you are telling him. I wish that I had seen Dr. Kot from the beginning, and not had my daughter be in pain for 3 weeks on and off. read more
