Super pleased with the service Lance provided for my son during the behind the wheel Instruction. He was communicative and patient. I will also engage him for my other son when he's ready, and would recommend him to others. Appointments were booked out about three weeks in advance, but he was able to meet my son after school and then terminate the session at my home. read more

Lance was excellent! Highly recommend! He straight both my kids 4 years apart! I liked that I could text with him and use PayPal to pay!

I would give a zero star if I could. This review is NOT based on his teaching skill. My child is scheduled a class to start on end of June. He cancelled his class on the very last moment, literally that day. Then he re-scheduled to today, and cancelled the class 50 mins before the lesson. I don't expect any professional teacher would do this. My son has a driving test coming up at the end of the month, and have to find ways to work around that. read more

Super satisfied with the training that Lance gave to my daughter, my niece and my nephew. Lance is very thorough in his instructions. All 3 students are all happy and satisfied with his instructions. Lance also communicated well with us if there were any concerns. He is patient with the kids. Thank you Lance. read more

Absolutely wonderful business. It was easy to set up some appointments (but call at least a month or two in advance....and give yourself some breathing room...my daughter didn't pass the written test the first time & scraped by the second time two days before our first appointment.) Lance has a nice smaller car that makes it easy for the kids to maneuver. He spent time with my daughter sitting in the car going over everything including expectations. And she was a very very nervous first driver. They went out three times, and we drove with her in between. Her abilities and confidence increased dramatically after each session. We hired him for an additional session closer to when she would take the test to review her skills and see if she could pass. Then we had him teach her parallel parking which isn't required anymore but we wanted her to get some experience with it. She passed the first time behind the wheel with only one minor issue. We recommended them to her friends, and I know one friend studied with him, and she also passed her behind the wheel the first time. read more

I just want to thank Lance for the great job teaching my son. My son was very happy because you are a great instructor and have lots of patients and explain everything very well for him to understand and learn lots from you. Thank you so much And by the way my son passed his behind the wheel test. Great job Lance. read more

Over a two week period called twice and left messages and also sent an email. Zero response, which I find very disrespectful. Even if you are booked, just a quick call or email saying I can not take clients now makes a world of difference. Lost business from me and others I might have referred to you. As a small business owner myself, I encourage Neal to make some changes on response time. read more

The man who owns and teaches behind the wheel, Neil Krider, is very nice and happy to be doing what he does. Driving with him for the first time was great! He picked me up from school and we started driving almost immediately. He was extremely patient with me and he was very good about keeping me relaxed and not too nervous. He talked quite a bit which I think helps keep his students more relaxed. His corrections were always nice, and he never got angry. He covers everything and goes over the driving test, all for a very modest price. I would and have recommended him to friends. Definitely give him a call. He's very flexible with schedules too. read more

My daughter took her lessons from Lance Krider. He is incredibly professional, calm, and trustworthy. Well worth the money!! UPDATE: Thanks to Lance, my daughter passed her driving test on her first try!! Definitely the best driving school around!!!! read more

We found Neal on Yelp after checking around. He was very fast at responding to my calls and his rates are fair and consistent. We found other companies charging all over the board. In fact, some had different cost for different teachers within the same company. We chose a time slot at 5:50 AM on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I first thought it was crazy but now having had the experience, I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like their child to learn how to manage in the dark. Neal arrived on time everyday and dropped my son off at school on Friday morning after the lesson. That worked out really well. After the lesson on Sat and Sun, my son came home and went back to sleep. That was also a plus for my son. It didn't cut into his homework or after school events. We loved having Neal teach our son and I highly recommend him. He's mature, patient and kind. read more

I usually just review the restaurants that I go to, but I felt compelled to review this business. I knew that my little cousin just got his license, so I let him drive over the holidays to a family function. He did a darn good job driving us 2 hrs away in heavy, congested traffic. He obeyed all the rules of the road, and is a courteous driver. Also, he does not drive slow in the fast lane! He goes with the flow of traffic- more people should do the same. When I asked about his drivers ed- he told me about the local driving school he used. They did a great job teaching him to be a safe driver, and that is important knowing how bad drivers are in the Bay Area! read more

I highly recommend. Neal Krider is an excellent instructor - very patient, calm, and knowledgeable. My teenager was completely at ease, and passed her behind-the-wheel test on the first try with only 1 error. He also offers a free "refresher" lesson right before the DMV appointment. Scheduling the sessions is by phone -- he's "old school" (a retired teacher) but still easy and flexible. read more

Awesome staff. Friendly, courteous, timely, and brave. Price was reasonable. Nnb

Very happy with Neil teaching my son to be a defensive driver instead of aggressive like how he sees me drive. He was confident taking the behind the wheel after the 3 two hour sessions with Neil. Have referred this school to many people since using them but finally remembered to WRITE A REVIEW! Thank you Neil for providing a calm and soft spoken environment without pressure! read more

Neil was super supportive of my daughters school and sport schedule. She felt he was a good teacher and helped her confidence in driving.

Still 5 stars. My son passed his driving test on his first try! WooHoo! Thanks again, Lance!

Completely disappointed with this business. Very unprofessional and here is the reason why. After reading all of the reviews, I had decided to call to schedule an appointment for my daughter. I reached Neil's voicemail and left my name and number. About 4 hours later, I received a call back. I was unable to answer the call since I was driving, so I pulled over and called Neil back within 2 minutes. I again left a voicemail with my contact information. Now it's been 4 DAYS and 4 VOICEMAILS later, and not a single response. I can understand if he's busy, but by not returning a simple phone call in 4 DAYS, shows he has no integrity! read more

As a parent of a teenage son I wanted to get the best driving instructor I could find and after talking to owner/instructor Neal Krider I knew I found what I was looking for. He's a retired teacher who knows this business better then most. I was not impressed with the OTHER schools in the way they offered their schedules with money up front and after the first lesson they would schedule the other lessons days if not weeks apart. I don't accept compromises nor do I like their way of doing business. NOT so with So. Valley Driving School, you pick your first day and he prefers to run the required lessons within the week to keep the lessons fresh in the students mind. This is what I would expect. Also like the fact that you pay when all the lessons are done, then you get the certificate. Mr. Krider comes to your door and picks up the student. He was always on time and only he and the student ride in the car, one on one, as it should be. He definitely lived up to my expectations. My son is now on his way to be a good driver, thanks to Neal and his ability to teach defensive driving skills. South Valley should be the "Go To-Driving School" Tony... read more

My daughter did her behind the wheel training with Neil and loved him! She had already taken one of her lessons with another school and felt that she didn't get enough drive time or instruction due to the picking up and dropping off of other students. I called Neil and was able to get my daughter scheduled quickly, although he is pretty busy, so plan ahead! He gave my daughter excellent instruction especially in the areas I didn't even think of, downtown, one way streets and parallel parking. She took her test with confidence and passed the first time. Neil is a gem, especially in a business that has alot of turnover and lacks customer service. With something so important as learning how to drive safely Neil is the only way to go. read more

My son's instructor was very prompt and professional. My son felt comfortable with him, and he actually instructed. I highly recommend.

Incredibly caring and helpful when assessing whether my mom would be safe on the road. Can't recommend highly enough for elder driving lessons. read more

What are the chances that my daughter gets the same driving instructor that I had when I had behind the wheel training ?! When I was searching around for driving schools I found this one and read the reviews. When I saw the name Neil Krider, I thought it was familiar. Then when I called, the voice sounded familiar after so many years. Neil Krider is an experienced driving instructor and teaches many, many teens behind the wheel training. It is a 1:1 lesson, 2 hours at a time for 3 days. He is very patient and thoroughly enjoys what he does. My daughter appreciated the fact that the lessons were 1:1 and didn't include any other driving students. In regards to scheduling, we did have to schedule a few weeks out so we waited until after school was out. However, he was open to picking her up at school, taking her on her lesson and dropping off at home. He even mentioned that he did lessons early in the morning to accommodate school sports and/or activities. Very flexible and pricing was reasonable. Please if you are looking for a driver's training program, please call South Valley Driving School. 1/2015: My son also took lessons from South Valley - Neil Krider! Call ahead to schedule as his calendar is booked sometimes 1 month out. Since our lessons were during the school year, Neil picked up my son after school for a 2 hour lesson and then brought him home. Excellent instructor and after the 6 hours of instruction includes a 30-45 min session around the DMV (Santa Teresa) prior to driving test appointment. read more

We read Yelp reviews, chose South Valley Driving School and were pleased. We talked with owner Neal by phone and he was helpful in describing lessons and answering questions. It was easy to reach him once we were ready to confirm lessons and he accommodated our dates. It's reassuring to hear how long he has been in this business and he is very knowledgable. The actual behind the wheel lessons for our daughter were with Lance, Neal's son. He arrived on time and explained how he would go about the training, from basics all the way up to freeway driving in subsequent lessons. He was able to pick her up at home and, for her last lesson, at her school which was convenient. He was gentle, patient and our daughter was comfortable with him. read more

At a very reasonable price, my son was very happy with the way he was taught. Not only is Lance a very nice instructor but also very patient. He is very knowledgeable, safety is very important part of the lesson and my son got a lot of good pointers from him. I have been driving for many years and the pointers my son told me even I didn't know. Maybe I should do behind the wheel training again because I sure learned a lot from my son because of Lance. read more

My teenage son just completed driving lessons with South Valley Driving School. This company is very professional, always on time, had a lesson plan , and affordable. I highly recommend this company for anyone who needs driving lessons. read more

We found Neal via Yelp and also another friend's reference. He gave my teenage son several driving lessons when he started driving. He came today to give a last minute brush up before he takes his driving test next week. Neal always arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time, incredibly patient. One thing we really appreciated was that he picked him up from school for a lot of his lessons and dropped him at home. He is very reasonably priced. The only downside is that he is a very busy man and is hard to schedule. It helped that my wife was organized about it and scheduled well in advance. read more

Very satisfied with South Valley Driving School. My daughter had Lance as her instructor and he was amazing. Very patient and and gave clear direction during her driving lessons so that my daughter was able to understand. Lance picked her up from school, was on time and dropped her off at home once the driving lessons were over. He was very accommodating with her schedule and I felt very comfortable with Lance as an Instructor. I highly recommend South Valley Driving School. read more

I was extremely pleased and absolutely recommend South Valley Driving School. My nephew had Lance as his instructor, who was very patient and informative explaining the rules of the road and always on time. They were very accommodating scheduling his lessons. Lance covered all aspects of driving (Stops, Signaling, Lane Changes, Parking, Reverse, Freeway driving, etc.) On the third behind the wheel lesson, they reviewed everything. He really helped to clarify the road test for him, and gave a lot of helpful tips and told him how he should conduct himself. He really helped my nephew be a safe driver. My nephew passed on his first try. read more

Both my daughter and son had Lance as a driving instructor. He is excellent. He is patient, calm and thorough! I recommend him very highly. Scheduling was great. All the lesson pickups were either at our house or at the kids' school and then they were always dropped off back at the house. Great service and great driving instruction! read more

They weren't available for the date we needed but the owner was very patient and matter of fact. Too bad. I know he's a great instructor. He was just booked well into the next month and we needed someone right away. read more

Neal Krider is a very diligent and patient coach. I felt comfortable with him training my son. He gave him good feedback to his errors and was patient with a teen student drive. I would recommend him heartily to any parent looking for a conscientious and patient driving instructor. read more

Best driving school in Campbell, ca and surrounding area. N.Krider is the best driving instructor around! I took my behind the wheel course in 2000. I've been driving since. His method of teaching is like no other, he has useful tips and hints as well! My defensive driving skills are the best around due to him. I'd recommend taking his course 100% keep up the great work N.Krider! 16yrs later and I STILL tell people about this driving school/instructor. read more

I just passed my driving test on Monday! yay!!! I owe this to my instructor Mr. Krider at South Valley Driving School. He was so patient with me. I actually went to one driving school before this but I could not understand what the old asian man was saying(I am korean so I can be annoyed-he was yakking on cell phone in vietnamese)- and he totally smelled like cigarette smoke..yuck. So I looked online on yellow pages and saw this school and called. Mr. Krider picked me up after school and we had lessons 2 hours a day for 3 days. His office is in downtown campbell but my dad just called and setup appointments. Everything that was on DMV test Mr. Krider taught me how to do....including parallel parking! So excited now I get to drive mommy's volvo till I buy my new civic. read more

Neil Krider was patient, kind and very knowledgeable! He even agreed to a very earlier appointment this am to run my daughter through the steps before her test at 8:30am. Very happy that she passed first attempt. The service provided is well worth it! Thanks read more

My kids have been to a couple driving schools, South Valley Driving School is the best I know of, and I highly recommend it!!! Neal Krider is a talented, gifted instructor! One example my child told me that she appreciated the most is during the first lesson Mr. Krider would help steer and brake, so she calmly and quickly got the feeling of what was correct, instead of being told what she was doing wrong all the time. After she learned and could feel what was right, then he didn't need to help as much, and when there were corrections he would tell her and explain to her in a nice, calm, helpful, supportive way. She came back from all her lessons happy, and proud of all she learned and how well she was driving, and excited to keep learning. He's got at least a few good 'tricks' like that, that make it the best learning experience ever and he gave her important information and tips the entire time to make her the best driver possible. Also a bonus is his car is straight forward to use and he spoke very clearly, and was easy to understand. He uses every minute wisely. He is an absolutely fabulous teacher! read more

Our daughter had behind-the-wheel instruction with Neal and he was pretty awesome. He as very patient with her and was very calm in giving her instructions or corrections so that she didn't get nervous or flustered. He was very accommodating with our schedule which made things very easy for us. We are very satisfied with and highly recommend South Valley Driving School. read more

Our daughter, Melody, just turned 15.5 and took her written driving test. So we were looking for an experienced instructor with a good reputation, who is patient and trust worthee. We did some extensive research on the Internet and talked to friends and family about their experience and recommendations. We finally selected Neal Krider of South Valley Driving School, and I have to say that we are very happy with the decision. Neal was very prompt, courteous and patient. Our daughter loved the driving lessons and the lessons helped greatly in building her confidence behind the wheel. The lessons were very thorough and started with the basic smooth starts and stops, to safe lane changes and parking, and some excellent tips on turning and being a safe and alert driver. We were compelled to write about our experience and re-affirm some of the excellent reviews and references we received about Neal and the South Valley Driving School. If you live in the Silicon Valley, you couldn't find a better organization to work with. We would highly recommend them and look forward to having our son work with Neal in a couple of years. read more
