Their communication was best-in-class with an immediate automated text to confirm the appointment and then a personal text from Brian stating he was on his way--2 hours early. During the service call he was very informative. He thought we have found the issue but to be safe let me know he'd hold another appointment the following day in case his fix wasn't the cause. Good thing as it was actually another issue. I texted and he said he was doing homework that night at home (a brand of boiler he hadn't worked with). Next day he again texted on his way and was 3 hours early. He came armed with several potential causes and sure enough nailed it quickly. Again super informative about the cause and reco'd some needed follow up service to prevent against the same issue in the future. I couldn't be happier. He's a real pro and I'm already looking for other proactive projects for him to tackle. When you find someone in the trades this good and conscientious, hold on to them. Again I'd recommend Brain and his team to anyone! PS. For some reason Yelp has my location as San Francisco. I'm in Milwaukee where Air Solutions is located.

Ben Ruffalo was suppose to put in a new heat exchange and high limit for our furnace. Upon arriving…read morefor the job he said he had to remove our original heat exchange and take it to his supplier to get the new heat exchange covered under warranty because if he picks up the new heat exchange without the old heat exchange they will make him pay for the new heat exchange and he would have to submit forms to receive his money back which he did not want to do. I asked Ben if he also has the new high limit 150-20 that he said he was going to replace. He said he forgot and he would check to see if his supplier has one. Ben removed our heat exchange and left for about 3 hours. When he returned he said they did not have a limit switch in so we would have to find one ourselves. Ben put the new heat exchange in and wrote on the invoice that the furnace was running properly when tested. When Ben was leaving (after my husband signed the invoice) he said that when he tested the furnace it was tripping the limit switch so we needed to find the new limit switch that day to order and put it in ourselves. We searched online and could not find one that night to purchase. we woke up at 6 am to our furnace not working. I called/text Ben and received no answer. We removed the existing limit switch and placed it back into the furnace. The furnace did turn on, but it sounded like a rocket ship and it would shut off after 30 seconds. The furnace continued to turn on and shut off every 30 seconds to 1 minute around 5-7 times before completely shutting itself down. Finally got a hold of Ben and explained to him the frightening sound and how it was turning on and off every 30 seconds to a minute. He said that when he tested the furnace it was louder than it should be. (Which he also admitted through text messages) I asked him if he put in the same heat exchange as the old one. He said he gave the supply company the serial number to our furnace and they gave him what popped up in their system so he trusted what they handed him was the proper heat exchange. I asked if he noticed anything different about the heat exchange whether he noticed that it was different metal or weighed differently. He said it was heavier than the old exchange. i asked if he looked up the new heat exchange to see if he needed to make any other adjustments with other parts in the furnace. He said he didn't need to because if the screw holes in the heat exchange lined up with the existing holes in the furnace that meant it was a perfect match. He said that he would look to see if he had a used high limit switch in one of the old furnaces he has laying around in his shop. eventually i found one online. After we installed the new limit switch like Ben told us to do, the furnace still sounded like a freight train and would still only turn on for 30 seconds to a minute and continue to cycle through like that until it completely shut itself down. I called Ben and he kept saying he didn't know why our furnace was doing this and he would have to call technical support but he would not be at our house on time to call. I told him our furnace did not act like this before he put in the new heat exchange and now we have been without heat for a substantial amount of time and we needed him to get here before technical support closes. After arguing and begging him to come fix our furnace and make it right he said that he would be charging us additional fees. I made it very clear that I would not be paying him any more money. Our furnace worked fine before he put in the heat exchange and after he put it in, our furnace sounded like a freight train and wont produce heat so he needed to come fix this. He did show up eventually and sat in his car for 30-45 minutes before coming inside. He put in a 195-20 limit switch. Our furnace did finally turn on and start pushing out heat but my husband told Ben that it still sounds like a freight train. Ben told my husband that his ears are playing tricks on him and if he comes back again he will charge us additional fees. Waking up the next morning the furnace was still sounding the same and was so hot that the room in the basement that the furnace was in was uncomfortably hot. Upon calling a different company, they said this is very dangerous and I needed to immediately shut my furnace down and turn off the gas. another HVAC company came to our house it was discovered that our furnace was completely shot. Ben knowingly left our house without our furnace working properly and when he came back he put in a part that he knew was not safe and not appropriate for our furnace putting our family in danger. And left us with a furnace that was no longer usable.

We recently had issues with our boiler…read more Knowing so very little about boilers, we initially had another service provider come out only to find that they specialize in another type of boiler. Ours is a steam boiler. Who knew? Well, probably we should have. But, we didn't. We still had heat and it was during a particularly bitter cold snap when we called. He let us know that since we were dealing with an issue (primarily noise) that wasn't actually causing an inability to use our boiler, he'd like to push out stopping by until the following week. We appreciated his kindness and consideration for those dealing with more dire issues and were perfectly happy to have him out the following week. He came out, promptly at the agreed upon time, and quickly diagnosed the problem and got it fixed in no time for a fair price. We couldn't be more happy with the service we received and will happily call upon Barth Boiler for any and all of our boiler needs in the future. And, should you need your boiler serviced, highly recommend that you do too!

I was told the service visit would be $125. I was then charged an additional $175 for about 45…read moreminutes of the technician's time, for a total of $300. No repairs were performed and I was ultimately told that the AC was operating normally, without a solution to the temperature difference I had called about. I understand paying for diagnostic time, but $300 for this visit felt very expensive, and I wish the additional charges had been clearer when I scheduled. Update: I appreciate the business owner commenting on their charge process. The technician specifically noted charging me for 45 minutes, and I have an email time stamped 45 minutes after he started work. Also, none of the paperwork notes that the initial charge includes 30 minutes of time, which further emphasizes my point about transparency. Update: Update: I previously listed the wrong dollar amounts, so I am correcting them after reviewing my invoice. I was charged $149 for the diagnostic visit plus $130 for an additional 45 minutes of labor, for a total of $292.95 with tax. After the business stated that the technician spent approximately 75 minutes diagnosing my AC, I requested their timestamped records. Their records show that at 12:38 PM I signed their Customer Acknowledgement stating that "all work has been completed," and my invoice was emailed at 12:40 PM. However, they are counting time through 12:51 PM toward the 75-minute visit based on their tracking system. I disputed the additional labor charge and requested a refund. The company refused and offered only a credit toward future service, which I declined. My concern is not that diagnostic work costs money. My concern is being charged for diagnostic labor that I do not believe is supported by the company's own records.

I set up an appointment with this company for my shop units. I was use to going to Stop Heating &…read moreCooling and was told they had bought them out. I explained that I had an air conditioner/hearting unit that needed help. I explained that the unit was smelling of vinegar and moldy smell. I explained that the unit was cooling but that it was extremely hot to the touch outside. I was told that it was most likely a valve that was plugged and that they could come out and fix that and clean the unit. I set up my appointment for 3:00. The next day I called and asked if I could have both units cleaned so I would be set for winter. I again explained that these were hear and air units AND gave them the name of the unit I had in my shop. I was told they could do that. They did ask if they could back the appointment up to 1:30 and I agreed. On that day I get a call at 11:50 that Mr. Michael Gaughan is on their way. I race over there and open up my shop. I am waiting for 20 minutes so I call to make sure they did not come early and leave. The person on the phone tells me they are still on their way. Ten minutes later I get a call from Mr. Gaughan from his vehicle asking me if I am there even though he parked right in front of the shop and could clearly see me inside the building. He walked in and I proceeded to show him where the units where and what was happening. He cut off my sentence by wanting to see where they were in back. We walked around the building and he looks at the one unit and asks me if the unit is working and I said yes, but it is running really hot. I told him that the company thought it was something plugged. He then asks me if water comes out of the unit. I said I did not know for sure because se there has been no water coming out of it. He then asks me why I would think water would be coming out and I said because the condensation has to go somewhere and its clearly standing water inside. He then asks me where the water is. And I have no idea what he is talking about. And he said well the water to hook up a hose. And I said, we do not have water back here. It is in front of the building. Is this so you can clean the unit or what because your company never said anything about this. So he then starts walking the opposite way of where we came in. Not to look at the other unit but just walks away from me. I ask him what he is doing and that there are no water outlets over there. He proceeds to tell me that he is nosy and he just likes to nose around and see what's going on. I tell him that where the trash is and it's easier to get back the way we came. On the way back I show him where the water hoses are and he complains that his hose may not go back that far. Back in the shop, he then turns to me and asks me what he wants me to do? Does he want me to take the unit out? Does he want me to take all the insulation out? How the heck do I know? I called his company and they told me they would clean the unit and fix the draining issue. They never asked me any questions. So finally I ask him if he has ever seen a unit like this. And he tells me he only works on big units and split units. I ask him if he knows what to do because if he is not comfortable doing this I cannot afford to have him mess it up and need a new unit. And he still has never even looked at the other unit. So then He starts complaining about how he would have to do this and I have now lost confidence in this guy. So I call his company back and tell them that this guy is not sure how to proceed and could you talk to him. I am now in business mode voice stating that I told you everything when I made the appointment and now I have someone who I am worried is going to screw things up worse. So I give Mr. Gaughan my phone and they discuss it. He hands the phone back to me and the they tell me that he knows what to do and it will be okay. I again reiterate that if he does not feel confident doing this I cannot afford to buy another AC. So I get off the phone and say you are good to go. But by that time Mr. Gaughan has developed an attitude. He takes two steps and gives me the stink eye. Takes two more steps and gives me the stink eye. He then takes out the filter to the AC which is clean and then shoves it back into the unit. He tries to pull the front plate off of the unit and cannot and clearly does not know what he is doing. I then say to him; I do not understand what is the attitude here. Look, if I am not confident in my job, I let the client know so they do not walk out unhappy. Do you feel comfortable in what you are doing? He turns to me glaring. I am looking back at me and he starts walking past the door and takes two steps and says angrily Competent and then walks some more and says competent. And I say back to him, I have no idea what is going on here or what you mean by this. He then walks around his truck and stands there doing nothing and then he walks over to the other side
